That reminded me about the bug report. Player got stuck at Horsehead Dark Region when game area suddenly got "unknown system permit" locked and CMDR can't get out from there.
Which recording is the Merope one from? Is it Zenith's 2a recording or is there another one (5c maybe?) I'm listening to all of Zenith's recordings at the moment and they are indistinguishable. I'm just wondering if maybe the audio corresponding to that particular image or maybe the other ones could have been altered in any way. I know I had worked on another recording for someone looking specifically at that noisy part at the beginning of the message and the recording that he linked to had been cleaned up with a lot of background noise removed and it sounded like that noisy part had gone through a filter of some sort. Do you have links to the audio for those images?
I've tried a few things with the first block of frequency varying noise (vs the time varying spikes), some increasingly random, for example selecting that period of signal and setting it as a noise filter and then applying to the rest of the image to see if it cleaned it up (no surprise there, it didn't). To my mind though that block with varying frequency is intended to convey some form of information and the time varying spikes are intended to convey something as well.
I'm not optimistic about just blindly cleaning up the image, but if they provided a hint as to how to go about it ...
Again, it's already been pulled out and available on Reddit. I respect your opinion, but do not believe that it represents the majority.

They were supposed to all be locked with the release of 2.0, but there was a bug that stopped it, that was squished in 2.1
well so far i foud an unrecogniseable wereck

did anyone noticed that merope 5 has pristine resreves?
Is it just me or... do the right-hand and left-hand ends of the image both look like views across a flat, grid-marked plane (galaxy map? system map? planet surface?) but with an angular separation between the viewpoints? Maybe linked to the two angles marked on lower-left quadrant image?
I was just looking at those bars again and wondered if they could represent planetary rings or something. I've had a look at the Merope system map and the first planet has four moons - first block is four bars. Second planet has again four moons, and the corresponding bars = four. Then we have the circle symbols etc (3rd planet). Idea goes wonky then on

I remember about 2 months ago posting a random theory based on nothing and getting a few reps and a discussion about it now i think i could explain the reason for human existence and it would be ignored! Gotta love the canonn also hats off to frontier for what they have created remember when you get mad at instancing or rng goes wrong frontier did this....

I think the majority of people who were originally working on this have given up. Its now all people who can do stuff with sound etc.

Hence I can't go any further and would need some audio engineer to check this for me.
Yeh, if I knew how to work with audio AND had that images audio to start with I would not work with image processing software.
I guess someone will need to look deep into that chunk to discover something, my resolution here is limited.
