I have a slightly wild idea about the UP. It's easily testable, so bare with me. :)

By honking it in high orbit, it will case dammage to SRVs, ships and other stuff on ground and in low flight.

The UP does not affect SRVs. Also it does not damage, only shuts down your HUD. Read the first page please.

why does commander one take damage?

Because that's what Han_zen's idea says it will do. There's no precedent for it, because it's a new idea and, as he said: testable.

Beware reminding Han_zen, who has posted consistently on this subject since thread #1 over a year ago to 'read the FP' - Like many 'old-timers' there ain't much he doesn't know about everything we know.

Secondly: there seems to be an increasing frustration here at the moment, borne out by the baitiness of certain people with each other. It's understandable, but I remind everyone that a lot of this frustration is caused by a feeling from us all that we're not getting anywhere.

It's natural, but it doesn't serve us as a community. Progress is slow or, even, nonexistent at the moment, and that bleeds through to how we talk to each other - but it mustn't.

The only option is for everyone to keep plugging away and remaining civil to everyone as much as possible. And I speak as someone who's demonstrated that same frustration.

We will get there - but it's going to take time. In the meantime, if you find yourself consumed by that frustration, just chill!

Sorry to respond late.

It's just an idea, that has not been tested. Farily low ods that anything happens, but who knows?

Here is a pic of a misile battery next to a barnacle, taking a blast from the UP in orbit.:D

Transcription to MIDI sequence of the chirps and purrs from Vent's Prae Theia D13-7 recording of UP:

This reminds me of the beging of the "school scene", where us humans were being taught by the giant mothership how to communicate with them through music in the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Yeah it does kind of seem that way, eh? So can we garner any clues from how they solved that?

BTW—I am fairly convinced now that this is morse code because (a) the UA was, and (B) the position of the trills (higher pitch purrs audible in certain places in the original audio where a chirp word is missing) breaks up purrs into valid Morse where otherwise it would not be. I'm operating under the assumption that purr letter boundaries are set by the end of a chirp sequence. Wherever they overlap we use the end of the chirp sequence as the way to know where the previous group of purrs should end and the next one starts for the next letter. That could be a false assumption though.

But I think now we need to ask, what are these Morse letters for? In the UA they were for drawing a picture on a 2D grid. I suspect this time it's a 3D grid or the surface of a sphere. It could also be 3D coordinates. Any other ideas? And how do we plot this?

These are the chirp and purr morse codes via this method from that message:

Chirps
... -.. .-. --- ..- ... ..- --- .. -.. -.. - --- . .. .-. -- ..- --- .. -- --. ... -.. -.. --- .. .-. -..
SDROUS UOIDDTOEIRMU OIMGSDDOIRD

Together (temporally, with spaces where trills are)
