So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

INRA would be the primary organization i'd consider to be the ones responsible for keeping whatever it is, a secret from the public. It fits the bill of being a cross-factional neutral military force with above-the-law clearance to do their mission (keep humanity safe)

The Dark Wheel is more about discovering and coveting the universe's mysteries. It (one of it's many spokes) could be responsible, but the governments would know about them being there ...and they're supposed to be super secret :)

Alright

As far as the system map shows though that is the weirdest looking Earth-like ive seen in the game. Though it has been terraformed.

I've got a vague recollection that it used to be classed as a waterworld, until FD squared it with the description in Reclamation.
Or maybe that was someplace else.
Someone will correct me, I'm sure :)

Hey people, why i cant access drew wager's site? I've tried 3 different browsers, with each of the 3 PC in my house and my phone. Is the site region locked or some weird thing?

This just brings Galnet up to date with the story of Reclamation - no new information, that I can see.

I have to agree. With Drew officially writing for Elite: Dangerous I'm sure that we'll see more mention of his characters in the headlines. I think this particular article was meant to introduce Kahina/Salome to people who haven't read Reclamation. It is going to be interesting to see how the story unfolds with Drew behind the scenes.

Too bad the Galnet article contradicts the book. Imperial propaganda spun by Kahina's rivals.

I think that is the point of the article. It's not the first time Imperial Citizen is critical about her.

The Imperial Herald seem more friendly aligned.

Awesome news about the book, congratulations Drew!

Also, so many interesting articles on galnet, here is the latest on Salomé/Kahina -

Mmm, not into PowerPlay politics, but that sounds like Patraeus' minion muck-spreading

Have Pilot's Federation applied a permit lock? [big grin]

Back when I first started investigating this mystery - before I discovered this thread - I made some calculations and plotted a line down towards the Rift.
I added my own bookmarks to the map to act as waypoint markers. This was the line I was following on my previous trip, when I got sidetracked and returned.

However since then I found you guys and we had the new clue.

I'm a little concerned that my line doesn't go near the H&S nebula...

However I'm only 1 person, forging my own way through and if I'm finding undiscovered (and unnamed) systems, it means no one has followed this path before.

I'm enjoying poking around out in the Rift, but mainly because I like exploring. I can virtually guarantee everyone here that there is no Big Mystery that has been waiting to be solved for 2 years out there.

Remember, Drew whatshisname was just a fanboy writing fan fiction 2 years ago. FD might have thrown him a bone back in 2014 as a little Easter Egg, maybe made sure one or two systems were hand-generated to be a little odd, but nothing beyond that. The game engine couldn't support much else.

So, anyone expecting a big payoff for some awesome discovery of a "solution" to an intricate mystery is going to be sorely disappointed, unless FD have added a whole pile of material in conjunction with Drew recently.

Drew is playing this Salome character now in-game, apparently, dropping a whole pile of vacuous platitudes about exploration that are supposed to sound deep and inspiring, but actually read like a 14 year old Dungeons & Dragons game master's narrative. It's kind of sad.

Sure, I want there to be a grand and very clever mystery that is 2 years old that's just waiting out there there to be discovered and solved. But my guess, based on how badly botched the original Unknown Artefact clues were (they weren't even *there* until the patch...), my guess is that there IS no real mystery that is from over a year *earlier* in the game's development. It's just a        Easter egg that is going to be hugely disappointing to everyone who has sunk hundreds of hours into the quest to "solve" it (i.e. stumble blindly on some random system or two in the outer arm beyond the Rift).

I don't blame Drew for trying to drum up interest like a good fanboy. And good on him, it got him the gig to be the official writer for the game (which didn't *have* one before? - lol). But unless FD has added a pile of good content to the mystery recently, my guess is there is barely anything to really discover. And remember, *good* mysteries can be fully solved by deduction - just ask Sherlock Holmes. They don't require hundreds of hours of random guessing in the vague general direction of the right answer.
