Elite: Dangerous release date?

Hi all,

I've been searching this information for a while and I couldn't find anything more than simply "2014". What is the expected release date for our beloved and long-awaited game? ;)

Hi domel,

there is no official release date, yet. I suppose it's too early, especially, as just Alpha went by, now we're in Premium Beta, than there will be Beta and Gamma and only then there will be the release.

Alpha took from december until end of may, Premium Beta is likely to last another 2-3 months, with Beta to follow... you get the picture.

End of December 2014 or the beginning of 2015.

Alpha was by 5 months.....Beta ??? I think it will last 4-5 months and Gamma for 1 month.

It will be released on a day with a 'y' in it.

September is the 30th anniversary of the original Elite, so my guess is David is hopeful for that to mean something in E: D terms too. Possibly gamma release.

But, when it's done. :)

A lot of people on the forum, me included, think this date is highly likely at least for the gamma with the final complete game being released in time for the Christmas rush. Either way Michael has confirmed that Frontier expect the finished game will definitely be out this year barring a major issue cropping up that nobody expected.

If you have pre ordered the retail version, then you have access to the gamma which will be released in September? The retail version could be released toward the end of this year or early 2015. But these are only speculations

It would be sooo nice if any of staff would answer to this question. Why you say 2015? Did anyone from the staff mentioned this? They say 2014 all the time...

It depends what you call "release". If you buy the game now (never mind premium or standard beta, just the game), chances are you will get it in 2014, as you'll get the Gamma release.

If you wait until boxes are shipped, then it might be 2015. Who knows. I do suspect that Gamma is intended to last quite a while though, like Minecraft's perpetual beta...

I've already bought an electronic version as a Kickstarter pledge during the 2012 campaign... So.. Do I get the gamma as soon as it appears? :)

And well Michael declared that Frontier " is in search of 2014 ". Thus 2014 is not 100% guaranteed. They "are in search ". It may very well be a sliding for January / February 2015. In the worst of the scenarios, of course
