we get interferences when targetting the probe with sensors and placing ourselves between the Probe and Merope. Sounds to me like the Probe is transmitting data towards Merope. That would be why.

Exactly. Also following this train of thoughts, we could say that the UP is in fact pointing to everywhere as well ! Searching and transmitting back. Why Merope 5C ? Maybe there is a relay there that we haven't found yet.

Merope 5c is probably the most probed (no pun intended) landable world in the game. Unless the thing only shows up occasionally via RNG (gah), then it would have to be small, very small.

Hmm maybe the whole planet is the receiver, like a giant reflector that bounces the signal off to wherever the recipients actually are. Come to think of it, that big crater does look like a giant parabolic reflector (ish). Lol

dunno, out of ideas

wait though, that diagram. signal comes in, top right. goes out bottom left (the crater symbol) out to the left panel. hmm

This is a quick and dirty copy of the 116 Ammonia Worlds recorded from http://www.elitegalaxyonline.com/planetary-research-facility/

The list is from all over explored space, but there may be some of interest. I have sorted it in alpha order:

[/spoiler]

well, some additional to that list

Phylucs NE-G D11-6 AB6
Syralie FR-C D6 ABC3
Syralie NJ-O D7-8 A3

They are findings from my current tour, so not reported yet, but I share the locations for the greater good. I like to ask commanders using this info the respect
and not report.

thanks Randolf, understood.

some of the ammonia systems on that main list don't exist, however (or they are misspelled).

I wouldn't rule out Merope or Merope 5C yet. The pleiades was searched a lot, but it wasnt until someone got in the right place (ammonia worlds) that they found FF UPs. Pretty much just means lots more testing, especially since we can get them easily now.

Greetings Commanders,
Rear Admiral Midnight Ninja here with some SCIENCE to boot. Gather around, help me dig into this. We've confirmed that getting in between a probe and Merope causes the probe to begin emitting notes of sorts. I've recorded several different notes. Consistently (thusfar), when the probe is low on health (around 40%-10%), it emits a longer chain of these sounds. Below I've provided both sounds and spectrographs for your sciencing pleasure.

And finally, the longer series of sounds near the end of the probe's life...

We've confirmed that getting in between a probe and Merope causes the probe to begin chirping of sorts. I've recorded several different chirps. Awesome!!!

I'm confirming the UA doesn't have this effect.

I've just spent 20 mins cruising 6-15 Mm out from an ammonia world in Heart Sector BQ-Y d40 3 (just on the edge of the Heart Nebula). No dice.

Anyone know of an ammonia world in the Seagull or Witches Head nebulae? Be interesting to check out the vicinity of Barnard's Loop, too.

Hey crushdepth, could you also track the distance to a couple of relevant systems, e.g. Merope and Sol?

STILL NOT CHIRPS ARRGH
Look people- if you call it a chirp, you are saying that there's a sweep between different frequencies. Then you say look at this chirp, and there's nothing like that in the picture. I gotta stop and figure out if I'm not looking at the right place, or it's the wrong picture, or you're just using the wrong word.

A chirp has a specific meaning in audio and radio. This aint it.

My bad. What's a better term, I'll update the original post?

Requesting data on systems with ammonia worlds, for:
* California Nebula
* Witches Head Nebula
* Running Man Nebula
* Orion Nebula
* Seagull Nebula
* DoINeedToContinueNebula

If you're sitting on data spillit. Please. Or go check it out and let us know :D
