edit: in what speed range USS2 was found (100% thrust) to estimate the depth of grav ur should be in

edit2: might be an idea collect data about USS2 signal distance from body and its gravity - that way for each body by scanning we get the most promising distance...

Only thing about Obsidian Orbital is it was already shut down by UAs and fixed with meta alloys so may now be immune
due to its location it was the first station shut down by UAs so we can expect it to be the first effected by UPs as long as its not immune
Users of OO might not be too happy if it gets shut down again, Canonn Institute is the place to sell for the "responsible" scientist ........ thats if we have any

a good point - my reference was more to what will happen with randoms outside of this thread, is the closest.

The better logic is yes to sell it at cannon


My observations is more what will more than likley happen versus what is good advice (third person type observation) thats about it.

so far the max spawn range observed is about 26mn range, i dont think anyones reported ls ranges yet mgiht be a bit far out

Dr Arcanonn is paying a good premium for them - the Institute is the 'premier unknown artefact research lab' (and now probe s) after all

As yet the Institute has not experienced any Unknown Artefact related issues, despite having had Artefacts sold at it. If we can get it to experience issues, we can make a little story out of it

UA=Green=Anomaly Detected THREAT 4=Thargoid. Thargoids are not a fan of the humans...
UP=Red=Anomaly Detected THREAT 2=Oresians. Oresians were friends with us in the past games.

The Klaxians. are a known/unknown race that are coloured blue. we dont know alot about them as we never had much interaction with them in the games. They were hardly ever seen. We know there coloured blue though.

Having listened to other recordings, I think that's after the second wail (there would have been another part of the transmission after the first). I transcribe this as (in Probese using "-" for high, "|" for low and "#" for what seems to be a separator):

That's the implication as I currently see it, but with MB saying "it's not just ammonia worlds, but the ammonia is the significant part" then I wonder- as always you can read his hints with at least 2 interpretations. Either he means also find at GG with ammonia based life etc in which case it's probably looking for Thargoids, or he means its looking for all signs of life so we'll find them by GG with water based life etc & it may be Thargoids who are doing the looking for other lifeforms.

I really don't think this is the case... The latest patch note said the UPs transmission was quicker than 6 minutes. The 5min 20sec recording from CMDR MyklAtrum shows this repeating message has 5 sections to it. They all start with a triplet and then a pause. If you take high pitch to be 0, the first triplet of bits is counting up for each part of the message. This really does strongly suggest high=0, low=1.

But doesn't that just mean if high pitch equals 1 then the first triplet is counting down? I think for the moment you've got to consider both possibilities; one of them will lead to meaningful info while the other won't.

@jmanis, distance to the body < 20Mm-25Mm, speed 30km, aim to the planet until you reach 8Mm, then step back and repeat. Need to get really close. This helped me.

No what you said was they were friends with us in past games. Not only have they not featured in any past games (I am obviously not including Oolite), but there is no record of us being "friends". Not that such things stop you from sprouting them as fact.

That's not strictly true. Basically everything that happened up to the point of the end of Frontier still happened. The last mission in Frontier where you could take the virus or cure to them, did not happen.
