No thanks.
The sneaky Alliance have a listening post out there. I think they're the cause of all the trouble....

So, here's something I've been struggling with today. The UP transmission clearly prefaces each block of information (except the first) with a number, and these numbers handily enough go up from 1 to 4 as the transmission goes on, like so:
No preface, meaning unknown
1, surface temp ratio
2, gravity ratio
3, radius ratio
4, meaning unknown
But when we look at the spectrograph "key"
If I had to assign meaning to each of these quadrants, I would assign radius to the bottom right, temperature to the upper left, and gravity to the upper right. But the key numbers don't match the transmission prefaces for that information. Maybe I'm wrong about temperature and gravity, but radius seems pretty obvious.
Anyone have bright ideas about why this mismatch might be?

Unfortunately being new to Elite (2-3 months old) I thought the system name would be on the left panel, so I made sure to include that realizing only later that the last part of the system name was cut off. Since I snapshotted my discoveries, I found that I had visited both C7 and C9. I know they're old news, but I haven't seen the system named in other spreadsheets. (Current reference is https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nbAAtymsXCJib_plQtbjGPkVqlr3VuJxEE95N2n6Phs/edit#gid=0)
The Story: I got vaguely interested in the Unknown X's after watching a video. I thought that there was a line of thought not being explored: The UA's have to come from somewhere. Since the data I found online listed many points spread through populated space, and a few points around the MAIA area, I thought that this would indicate a cone of dispersal. Bookmarking every system from the data I found (which I have since lost track of) I projected where I thought the cone would converge and went there. Every jump I pulled up the galmap, re-checked, and sometimes changed my prediction, which is why it's not burned in my mind.
When I arrived at the predicted system, there was an anomaly (UA) [I'll get the screenshots in when I figure out how to use the forum].
I'm not even close to having a corrosion resistant cargo rack, and I was in a 20Ly Cobra MkIII with an underpowered (35/s max) fuel scoop at the time, so I dropped it in the next system like a hot potato once I realized how much damage it did. This report is about a month afterwards, I've been trying to get more educated on the UA, UP, and Barnacle situation before submitting and getting "oh, yeah, we been 'der" back.
Thanks for the heads up first loads of MAs headed there already.

Anyone got the distance from Merope to Pleiades Sector KC-U b3-1 to hand? Just had an idea.
Finally i have one UP for myself! ^^'
Well, I've been flying around HIP 18908 B 5, a gas giant with ammonia-based life for half an hour now and no joy. A single USS in total...I've tried to find some gas giants with ammonia-based life near the Pleiades that I have scan data for but it's a nightmare trying to find systems I've scanned whilst docked 22KLY away.
