Horizons A complete expansion aimed at large ships only?

Wow Really?
For us little people that do not or will not fly any ship larger than a small or medium size. Nothing I've seen so far.
Ship launched fighters? Useless
A large passenger ship. Useless
I guess I'll have to wait until the expansion is released and read the dev notes to see if anything pops out for the smaller ships in content. I'm sure the big ship lovers are liking this. It just has no use for so many. I'll keep digging.

the last few updates were great for small ships, made them all faster and more fun to fly across the board, and they got the option to mount enhanced thrusters for more fast on top of it.

Meanwhile large ships were expensive to run with nothing to set them apart from the rest.
It was about time large ships got some love.

Ya the small ships are a gas with those mods. Mainly I was hoping for more content. Not just a weapons package for the big ships and a large ship being added. Who knows, maybe more will come. And then, FD may be prepping all the ships for what is coming. I'd go for that too.

The small ship pilots got Enhanced Performance Thrusters in 2.1. Now it's time for the large trading ships that have been almost completely neglected in 2.1 to get some nice fighter toys in 2.2. Every single expansion does not introduce gameplay elements that affect every ship/playstyle equally.

The mid range ships might get ignored by us ..... with the introduction of immediate summoning of a ship, will we all be leaping around in high jump distance Hauler taxis, then summoning an inexpensively kitted out big ship, because we no longer need the immense jump range of expensive FSDs?

Will we all be owning taxis and eneavouring to purchase the cheapest version of fighter-equipped big ships  ?

There's always something.

I am a soloist, even in open.
CQC wasn't for me.
Wings wasn't for me either.
If ship crew can not be npc then I will miss out on that one too.

That is what it is.
But every major update has a lot of tweaks and additions that benefit all. 2.2 certainly is no exception. I think overall it will be a blast.
Try to see the bigger picture here.

I hope we will be able to hire npc wingmates in the near future.
That would be a great feature for a guy like me.
But I'm quite patient.
In general ED is getting better and better with every new release.

FSDs are cheap though, it's the power plants that are expensive. On the anaconda, the top power plant costs more than the hull, while the top FSD costs like 15% of the hull. On the FAS, the top power plant costs three times more than the top FSD. It's only on the smallest ships that the FSD costs as much as the power plant.

If you disregard improved station interior, improved route plotting, improved planetary maps, improved looks of hyperspace travel, passenger missions, tourist spots, the SIN broker, ship and module transfer, new assets for installations in space and whatever kind of aliens which are going to appear, yes then it's an update only for big ships (disregarding Keelback and Federal Gunship).

Pretty much this.

A lot of content for the big ships for sure but I think there's a fair amount of love for everyone. Nice listing from CMDR Barking Mad here
Pieces that should be good for everyone
  • Passenger/Toursit missions (can still be done with smaller ships)
  • Module storage
  • Ship transfer
  • Visual upgrades to stations and avatars
  • New Locations (CQC station and dock-yard)
  • Enhanced planetary maps
  • Improved route plotting
  • Remote clearing of fines and collecting bounties
  • Improvements to hyperspace (visual enhancements, system security warnings)
  • New features on planet surfaces
  • Improvements to neutron and white dwarf stars with new jump boost feature
  • More ship kits and paint jobs.
It's not really a bad list when you take into account that this will be complemented (I hope) with a bunch of general bug fixes.

Your milage will always differ. I got no benefit from season 1 really. I play solo, so Wings, CG and Powerplay were all a wast on me, I've never been part of any of them.

They may have made it so there is a wait time when requesting a ship based upon distance and size, thereby preventing someone from flying to a distant community objective in their ASP Explorer, then transferring their Corvette instantaneously. Maybe someone else can shine more light on the specifics?

Content like....
Aliens?
Ship transfer?
Module storage and transfer?
A new powerplay faction with a new special weapon?
New stations?
Passenger missions?

That's content last time I checked

Passenger cabins are not limited to the Orca and Beluga.

I am sure you'll be able to fit them to much smaller ships, both Economy and 1st class cabins, to allow bulk passengers as well as VIPs

VIP cabins are supposedly Beluga/Orca-only.
But "economy" and "business" I believe we will be able to fit into any ship.
