Relying on the System Map isn't perfect, given the current (odd) mechanic relating to lower population systems needing to be "personally discovered" before the map is revealed to us.

It would lock out a player from transferring a ship to a low-pop system they've never visited.

Still, that does follow logically from FD's decision to keep some system details behind the curtain... only revealed to us once we've travelled there ourselves. It is what it is, I guess.

Either way, it doesn't bother me. There's so many things in this game that make no sense at all, this is just another in the pile.

I'd prefer the option that pleases everyone. Except the ones that don't want transfer at all. Too bad for them :)

I don't like it, it would add unnecesay hassle to the players and technical complexity to the operation.
However, I could accept it as a compromise solution since it would be less disruptive to the gameplay and would add a certain degree of depth to the mission planning.

Kinda better that just asking the players to just do something else for x hours.

What hassle? Choose system. Send ship. Bye ship.

It's exactly the same as summoning, only from the starting point rather than the end point.

EVE does this, and it's possibly one of the most tense moments of the game, having to flee BY ESCAPE POD from your attackers, believe me, when it's your *LIFE* and your XP and Skill Implants on the line, it's brown trousers time. No joke, that makes anything in Elite Dangerous feel muted by comparison, you jump into a gate trap and it's beg, beg for your VERY LIFE.

indeed. scrap instant travel and just make first person eve pls.

Perhaps you could summon or send. Send only working for places you've been.

to remain in a state in which you expect or hope that something will happen soon

Do we not like the word wait? delay, holdup, interval, interlude, intermission, pause, break, stay, cessation, suspension, stoppage, halt, interruption, lull, respite, recess, moratorium, hiatus, gap, rest

Any of those work?

Droogie I'm in agreement with you on transferring ahead of time
I think that would work well and make sense, if the player doesn't plan ahead, well that's the players problem.
want to get your Vulture to a CG then plan ahead don't leave the transfer days late, or if you do then run some missions, mine, bounty hunt, whatever, in the meantime no need for waiting.

Out of curiousity, where are people pulling this 78% figure from? It's a multiple tickbox poll - looks like 69% of players want transfers, 2% don't, and what, 30% of people didn't pick an option from the first two? Are folks adding together the ticks for the various "I'd like a timer on transfers" options? Because it seems like people could tick all of these.

Well. Time within the bubble would be trivial anyway. The real issue here is Jacques. I don't even think arguing about transfer within the bubble is worth it.

I was thinking about transfers with the purpose of buy ships, fit them or have their modules engineered. In those situations I would preffer to be able to insta-call for a ship.

But again, I'm fine with this alternative if you guys are. It's a good compromise between both points of view, which is far more than I was expecting from this discussion.

some have little time ?
well why do you guys play a sim game then ?
you are exactly like the bird asking to remove the air that is limiting his speed ...but guess what, without it: HE FALL...
why not buying remotly ship while your at it [downcast]? and then send it to you.
ship transfer should be like this:
do it yourself or pay an NPC to: disassemble your ship, fit it into a cargohold big enouth (ex:230t for a vulture), get it delivered by a NPC (who can be part of a delivery company) or do it yourself if you want to moves assets with you (cheaper)
else, are you saying ANYONE can enter in your ship without the keys ?

To clarify; Everyone wants transfer. It's the implementation...

If they added any delay people would complain about time sinks, I personally don't mind but I understand the decision.

I said the same thing because that is EXACTLY what would happen if they had put a delay into the process. The delay would be too long, or too short, or whatever blah blah blah.

Getting all bent out of shape about the immersion aspects is just plain silly when there are dozens upon dozens of things in this game that are physically impossible to do, yet they happen every second in the world of ED. We can start with faster than light travel and go down the list from there. Its a rather long list if you want to get serious about realism.

What worries me is that they are going to end up charging some insane amount of $$ to perform these transfers and the further the distance the more expensive that fee is going to be. Well, who but someone with ships 300 light years away or more would need such a feature in the first place?

Personally, I own 10 A rated ships. So how much $$ is it going to cost me to move the lot out to say Jaques? Something tells me that a billion + ain't going to cover it. ;)

But bottom line... This is a feature long overdue, and everyone should be grateful that we are "finally" going to see it in the game.

Me too, actually. I'm surprised I stayed. It's only a forum. However, there's always this:

Well, 18 people don't, apparently, unless they're really bad at filling in polls ;)

Well, 18 people are wrong and should feel bad :)
