Picture as the canopy shatters and your powerplant shuts down, suddenly your speakers blip with the sound of the radio crackling into life... and then...

https://youtu.be/YJVmu6yttiw?t=26 - This. This is the last thing you hear before you're confronted by the insurance rebuy screen...

In another game I used to play I used to listen to that (along with plenty of other stuff to get the adrenalin flowing) during full-on pvp fights. If I got ten seconds of Skrillex after my canopy blew out there's a decent chance I'd stay in the fight :D

The more I am learning about Frontier`s way of dealing with stuff like this, the more I appreciate CCP. EVE has its own set of problems ofc, but they've built truly great scientific lore and carefully built actual gameplay upon it so that very few things have been left sticking out ugly.

Yeah. Over the course of thirteen years...

Is it to early to start the rage quit over ship transport thread or should we wait?

I think around a week before anybody has had the chance to actually try it seems to be the usual time window to threaten to leave a game over gameplay mechanics that people have no direct experience of, so maybe leave it until the beta is formally announced.

It's a real shame i was really hyped for 2.2 and the future of elite till the moment sandy said instant transfer it took about 3 seconds for me to realize that the games core mechanics were about to be ruined, thanks a lot sandy for ruining my day.

I can only hope the folks at frontier have a real serious look at the implications of this. This is the first time since Beta that an announcement has made me consider whether or not i would even wont to continue investing my time and money in this game.

How can you even consider ruining the core frame-shift/outfitting mechanics like this you might please some casuals and kids but you risk alienating your hardcore base. I consider this to be the worst idea ever proposed for this game.

For many of us this will be game breaking.

i know someone who can :
"Now, I know some people might think, well that's ya know, it's a bit gamey, but it is a game, and I think the pros of having un-interrupted gameplay outweigh the cons of getting the transport there straight-away." Sandro Sammarco

(assuming it s real since i just found out about this one because it was posted here)

It is a shame. I couldn't really believe it when I heard it either. Mind you, I can't wait for more surprises coming in beta. Do you think we'll actually need plenty of materials to "print" fighters in our ships or are these going to just magically appear too? (Sorry - OT)

For the insta-magic transfer... I guess I'll probably end up trying to ignore it and pretend it never happened... like The Engineers.

Still love this game, though.

Yes Ive seen it and in my opinion and i imagine the opinion of the majority he is wrong, I think if sandy reads this entire thread he may re think his statement. If not i can only hope David B steps in and restores some sanity to the situation.

How is it going to be game breaking? You don't need to use it if you don't want to. You can completely ignore it, just like so many other things. It's not ruining any core mechanics. Stop it.

A need for Materials might actually make it less common practice. So a price set based on distance and size of ship, but then also a materials price maybe set based on extent of modification. One might go to, say, Farseer, then and instantly summon the Beluga one just bought at Founders World. Then after modding it fully, one might stare horrified at the amount of rare mats needed to get it instantly transferred to anywhere else.

Of course, people might just consider it a wall in the way of their fun times, another grind just to keep them from having maximum fun all the time. It would, though, be nice if something could stay a time-sink to achieve: Remember how much effort it took to get the Thargoid mission in First Encounters, and how exciting it was to finally get there...

:D S

Well you said it "You don't care" I doubt your anyone's target audience.

Yes, I don't care about any realism implications and I don't care about how it makes me sound. How does it remove me from "anyone's target audience". I've played this game quite enough to be part of the target audience, thank you.

But you don't care why would i waste my time on you, if you want to understand the implications read the thread like everybody else. If you don't care about realism and how you sound your not in my target audience and i wont stop it so you can like it or lump it.

People like him hate the idea that someone else might have fun differently than them.

No reason to worry. Highly unlike FD will crumble to the whining. ED forums is where the immersion/realism crew resides and they have spoken that they don't want instant transportation however they do not make up the majority of the player population. Reddit has an overwhelming votes for instant teleportation and its many times the number here.

Can easily say the same about those of you who want to add additional time sinks to the game just for the sake of doing it to spite the "casual, entitled" crowd.

EDIT: I may have misinterpreted your post, if I did, I apologize. :)

There aren't any implications other than being able to move your stuff quickly and getting back to playing the game instead of waiting on it to be played. I already have to make sure I allot several hours to get anything out of it. I don't need any more arbitrary sinks for the sake of "realism" and "hardcore gameplay", we have quite enough of that as is.

By the way, next time you feel like announcing you aren't going to engage with someone, just save your post. No reason to tell me about how you aren't going to tell me anything, wasting both of our time with that.
