Depth and Motivation in E:D - the case for corporations

why is that important? to regulate access to backing?

Sometimes i don't want other commanders to back the faction keeping us in a Boom state, do you know how long we had to wait before our faction got out of boom state just because players were trading to our station?

ONLY if players cant name them without FD checking the name.

We do not need battleship bob , we do not need un lore friendly corp names.

So yes , we need palyer corps but its need to be done in a lore friendly way.

I don't like such names too but don't you think that in 3302 people don't give a crap about what others call themselves?

yes - you are not alone in this galaxy. part of the fun playing the BGS for me.

What can you do in ED? can you effect other players?

of course. ever seen a discussion about systems in lockdown? rare goods not spawning?

you could regulate who uses what kind of services of the stations and outpost in your systems, you could set the rules on who can enter your stations and outpost...etc..

well, there we differ. i'm very happy that we don't have that kind of game in ED. not sure whether this is what OP wants?

In fact that is the reason i left the game because the feeling of no matter what i do i don't move or change a dame thing, don't have control and unable of control, once you get the best ship in the game then there isn't much to do really because there is no purpose, sure you can go and search 400bil system for Aliens or go explore but its only for a certain time before you start the ask about the reason of playing this game since most of what you do is observing, most of the changes which happens through the BGS are hard to witness and takes a long time to take effect.

That very much depends on the population of the system in question and whether there is any opposition.

I've managed to shift a Faction's influence in a system by several percent in a few hours play.

Rare goods not spawning? what is the big deal with that? you can't make a couple more credits?..

Just cosmetic Lock-down since people can come and go and you can't do anything about it.

I know, you like the cosmetic aspect of the BGS, i got that...

Exactly!!!

So as a single player you can change the course of a faction in a STAR SYSTEM, that kind of power should not be permitted...

Just like no one forces you to join a Corp in Eve, but you really have to in order not to be shark bait.

Stop trying to make Elite into an Eve clone. If you want Eve then go play Eve and leave the rest of us alone.

Sorry but that is an incorrect statement, I was a billionaire in EVE. Owned every type of ship from battleship on down. The only people in my corp are me.

Why not? what is the problem with that, what a name bothers you that much?

Yes. Yes it does.

Ed is about immersion and a sound naming policy is important to that. I like the idea of a player owned station. I don't like the idea of a player owned station called blazeit420

The BGS is a bad joke, we tried to work on this BGS and all what we got is disappointment and confusion, there are very few who really knows how it work and most of it is unknown to us since most of it is in the background, you can't even decide the direction of your expansion let alone regulating who is backing the faction and who is not, there is no way to protect against actions against your faction other than engaging in a repetitive NPC farming or mission which gets really boring after you control one random system or two...

again the best way is to give players the power to shape the galaxy and remove this called the BGS...

I love that logic.
Dozens of Player factions exist and they work together to grow their faction and expand.
You find it confusioning, so lets remove the entire feature

.... and a few players "owning" a system doesn't seem even more far-fetched?

A group of people like a corp or an organisation would!

Oh don't put words in my mouth, i didn't say anything about naming station only group names...

How did they earn the credits to buy the system?

They don't buy it. There are 400 billion systems in ED. They could literally build something in an uninhabited system and bam it's theirs.

Do you really care if some group of players own a system outside of the bubble that you would probably never ever visit?

So you propose preventing people from jumping in to "your system" if you could control them
As that would be the only no cosmetic lock down you could manage
