I like limited edition content to be just that, 'limited'. So I said no. I also don't want wireframe cobra mk3 skin to come back. I don't have it, I missed it fair and square. That should stay that way for the limited editions to have any credibility.

Why would you need a cobra IV in the first place : all you need now is a taxi (asp / conda / hauler) and an FSD-gimped fighter hidden in it.

I voted yes solely cause that ship is trash and currently doesn't deserve the Cobra name and if it gets opened up to everyone then maybe, just maybe, FD will do a pass on it to make it actually capable of bringing all 5 of it's weapons to bare without being out turned by planets.

I do get the pre order side of the argument but, right now it's god awful so the pre order is kinda pointless anyway

I get the 'no' camp and agree with most of the arguments, however, the role playing person inside of me says 'wrap me in cling film and smother me in chutney' - no, no it doesnt! - wrong thread and wrong forum - jeez I have told you about this before...

No, the role playing part of me finds it a little hard to believe that Faulcon DeLacy didn't take the opportunity with the Mark IV to upgrade to something really rather special. There's the AMG Mercedes and then there is the 'Black' which is AMG on steroids (to use a car metaphor)?

I've gotta say the handling has got to improve, I switched from a mk4 to a type6 to do some hauling and I'm pretty sure the fully loaded type6 actually handles better, if not at least the same.

This is not ok.

Conversely, the mk3 handles too well. Apparantly it's one of the faster ships in the game barring a viper or eagle. For a ship that's supposed to be an all rounder not excelling in any particular area but also not being bad, this again is just not ok.

These aren't cars though, a better metaphor is warships. It's a much bigger task to resdesign a warship than it is to put spoilers on a car and tune the engine a little. Plenty of dud warships have been scrapped or ignored. Take my country, for example. We could have upgraded our piece of      Collin's class submarines. But it's cheaper and smarter in the long to just make new ones without all those flaws.

Would love it if everyone had access to the MKIV as i hate exclusive stuff in games in general. I dont think it needs to be rebalanced it's fine as is.

I guess if all you do is travel around and fight things....sure. I guess now players who want to do that can just do that without spending so much time looking at hyperspace...I don't see the bad part of that.

I actually have the ship ... which is why i put in the bit about rebalancing it ;)

lefty, what are you looking to do with it? There are folks here that can offer some guidance.

I'm willing to sell mine used. It's mint condition save for stellar charring from a fuel scoop incident, weapons fire pockmarks from over zealous security ships and bent landing gear from a landing on a 6G world.

Otherwise, fine.

No,

why not instead develop a MkV instead.

or maybe.... A completely new ship that has never ever been mentioned in Elite before!!

Absolutely not. If you weren't available for pre-order either financially or not...then you don't get the prize.

To be completely honest you're not missing much

So... you don't want people to get a bad ship?

Why not give them a good ship then? All the work that went into it is wasted if people don't use and enjoy it.

But people do use it and enjoy it. I use the Mk IV quite extensively, and am quite fond of it as it is.

I wouldn't want to see any of the module slots taken away for better speed/maneuverability.
