Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

I think I know the bit your on about. That was a little tough. I just kited them out one by one by making noises either by throwing things into various shady corners or jumping about when one of them is in hearing range (you can see this when you move in high pose on the mini map). Get em into a corner and choke em out.

I did it with quick cover dashes to get round the alley and upstairs. Then a lot of close quarters violence. So much for the non-lethal play through... :)

*Edit* And yes, all through the opening sequence in Prague I was thinking 'City 17' :)

I do enjoy the Deus EX games. This one too.

But....

I was shocked to see how bad the human models look and move in the game.
The faces for example are awfully modeled.
Also the movement control system is a bit awkward, even on PC.
Splintercell and The division do these things so much better that it is beyond belief.

Perhaps I am too spoikled by the perfection of games like Splintercell Blacklist and The Division as far as movement and models are concerned.
Compared to those games the new Deus Ex is clearly second rate.

Yep. I agree with you on these points. The control system has got me killed a fair number of times, and the character models aren't great. Lip synching seems especially bad. The hacking minigame is also a lot worse - the isometric graphics make it a lot more confusing.

It's good, but not great so far (as in I'd be giving it a ~65%-ish score after 5 hours play).

I'm hovering around the 90 mark here. I can forgive the graphics a bit but I agree generally with you guys. There's a patch in a week or so that brings dx12 I'll hold off on final judgement on graphics till then. I'm not seeing the control problems you guys are having. It's pretty good so far for me. I wasn't expecting top notch but I have no specific complaints in this regard.

What!?! There is another new Deus Ex game!?!
I will get around to it......eventually. As for now, still playing this..

Ah. I'm possibly being a little unfair - the combat AI seems quite good, uses cover well, and its quite... visceral. :)

Enjoying the first mission so far. It's a minor precursor to the actual game though and I feel like I'm rushing through it to get to the main game. Controls are taking some getting used to but I selected the advised ones that will supposedly make Adam feel much more slinky once I get them down.

Quite disappointed with this one, I'm afraid - after seeing a lot of footage and the whole micro-transaction scheme (which wasn't in the press release, mind you - SE deliberately hid that to avoid showing it to public before the actual release, what's that if not a lie?) I don't think I'll be picking this game up anytime soon.

The other thing that puts me off - is the season pass' bonuses to the game (as well as some pre-order stuff which I'm not concerned because I never pre-order games) in a form of items, parts for crafting, credits - that sort of thing. Why even do that is beyond me, you create this game right? You balance it around the gameplay and you actually supposed to snowball in these kinds of games, the feeling of "progression" is when your character gets stronger - in this case getting levels and new augments on Adam, but HEY if you pay us a little money we'll just give you free stuff so you feel more OP from the start. That sort of thing is what people called cheating back in my days (I can't believe I'd say that in 2016 lol), firing up cheat enging and getting yourself some items is what it's called, but now you have to PAY for it? It's unbelievable. What a disgrace to Deus Ex franchise this is, and don't get me wrong - the art style is on point, the gameplay seems pretty decent (at least to me, I love it) but the marketing decisions and shady business stuff ruined this game for me. Feels bad man.

I'm not a fan at all of micro transactions in game either. However in this it's not pushed on you at all from what I've played. If you click into the store menu then yeah your going looking for it. I haven't seen any need to do so personally, I don't feel as though the game is being meagre with resources and can't see why I'd bother.

From what I saw the pre order stuff was mainly cosmetic. Different looking costumes etc. No biggie.

This whole microtransactions thing is surely an absolute          that should die ASAP. However, understanding a little bit how business work I'd say we should blame a greedy publisher rather than developer. Often studios have no saying in the matter - they either do as said, or lose the right to develop a game.

Micro transactions? I haven't come across any yet. I've noticed there is a store link on the main menu but not been pushed to buy anything yet. Microtransactions are the worst thing to happen to games for a long time but in terms of deep, substantial DLC I am mostly on board.

Having said that, although I eventually bought it, I still am disgusted with Bungie about having to fork out the price of a full game to unlock access to previously available content in Destiny.

The game is a bit short. They want to make a Trilogy. I think the other aspects are good though.

I'm not that far into it but I'm sure I read most review sites saying about 40 hours play if you don't just mainline the main story?

They called me 'Clank' one time too many :)

Don't worry, they are all asleep as I'm on a zero kills run (was going to be a shadow run, but that's real hard!)
.
Good game so far, my only annoyance is the really stingy aug-power free recharge cap forcing you to be more frugal with the powers.
