I don't have a definitive opinion on the other poll, just curious if the results will be similar. Should FDEV remove rebuy from the game? Every time you die you'll lose everything and start in a free Sidewinder.

Your poll results once again demonstrates just how small the minority wanting these whacky changes actually is. Just like the campaign to remove SOLO from the game, forcing everyone into OPEN, their ideas are frankly just plain stupid and if ever actually brought into ED would surely destroy the game in a matter of days.

Lets just be glad that these player's concepts of what ED should be never get any further than the shortest bar on feature suggestion polls. ;)

I voted yes, because I would personally prefer it in general since then we could all play ironman mode on the same terms, knowing that this will never happen for the game in general and that it likely wouldn't be the most viable game design feature for Frontier to implement. :)

Cheers.

Why do some players in this game continue to think that true immersion comes from making the game as hard as possible. They have done it with AI, they are trying to do it with ship transfers, and now this. Why, why, why? I have said this before in other threads. If you want to make the game challenging, do it for yourself. Immersion is in the eye of the beholder. The rebuy should stay. If you want the extra challenge, just choose the sidey.

Wow,yes i would absolutely love this. I would love to know that the past 20 months worth of work, working my way through the ships, getting to elite, ranking up with engineers will all be wiped so that i can start all over again from scratch. Bring it on.

I like to play the game somewhat as a survival game, and seeing the rebuy screen does kind of break the immersion for me.

To each their own. I will also ignore and avoid ship teleportation features as best as I can, if they're implemented as currently described. It's kind of a shame they have so much potential to destabilize and unbalance the game as they would seem to.

But yeah, Eagles are great fun to pilot. One of my favorite ships in the game. :)

Just how many people did you think where going to say "Yes",Half of people who said "yes" probably did no read the question correct assumed you get your ship back for free

What level of realisam are you willing to work with,At the most extreem level of realisam when you die you should delete the game and never play it again

It would seem they're trying to make a point to invalidate the opinions of others in their mind. Confirmation bias and all that.

Cheers.

It would be even harsh than EVE. Or Dark Souls :)
as someone said already (i think?) it would be good to have this GAME MODE. I know some people play the "IRONMAN mode" or how it called...
But not for the WHOLE game.

So you caught on and are now choosing sides. Congratulations. :p

It isn't a "black and white" issue, in my opinion.

Dude, this went so far above your head you could fly a dreamliner between this topic and your scalp...

Yes, remove it!

REBUY is just a simple and lazy way to implement coming back from a lost ship. How it should have been done is as follows:

1) The CMDR is ejected out of the ship in an escape pod. They may look out the window and gaze upon the beauty and vastness of space! Enjoy the rest time, you just had a harrowing experience!

2) A mission is posted to the nearest station's Mission Board "Save CMDR Jypson!" (Mission pays a standard Pilots Federation prize of 250K cr)

3) A player must then find, collect (or destroy ) the stranded CMDR and return them to the Mission giver.

4) The CMDR then visits the Insurance screen and is offered a cash settlement on the spot, minus fees of course, or a 'rebuy'.

5) If the CMDR chooses a rebuy, multiple missions appear within 100ly of said station offering payment for delivery of a hull and modules to construct the CMDR's new ship.

6) The CMDR waits until the ship is assembled, or buys whatever the station has on offer to tie him over!

Look at all of that glorious gameplay we're all missing out on because of lazy developers! Instead, now, we're treated with a rebuy screen and magical ship is given back to you instantly with little-to-no consequences and a heap of missed gameplay and immersion!

I would have loved this. I imagine it is just too complicated, however. Call it lazy or whatever, but I can understand why they chose to go with pre-existing mechanics for respawn...but man, this would have been cool

There is a serious question here among all the .... should the loss of a ship be more (or less) inconvenient to the player?

Personally, I think there aren't enough consequences, simply keep enough credits in reserve and you're back to where you were before. I think there are a number of ways to achieve this, and the inconvenience can be in terms of credits or time or a mixture of both. I could set out a suggestion that would be reasonable, plausible and not break immersion too badly, but I don't think this is the place for it. The first question is, is a change desirable? If the answer is yes, we could discuss the exact form it could take,

Would be nice if they included an option for iron man mode. But mandatory? Nah. I like realism, but I wouldn't impose that kind of re-grind on anyone else. I would like to have the ironman mode still running on the Open Server but just applicable to the CMDR on an account I create (on creation, not togglable).

As Sandro stated earlier regarding NPCs and their perma-death "it creates a sense of attachment" when you have something to truly lose. This is as true for ships as it is for people. Not everyone's cup of tea, but definitely mine.

I would buy a separate account if they made iron man mode :D But I guess I could just buy a 2nd account and click "delete CMDR" every time I die? Ha! Maybe I'll do just that ;)
