Combat logging experiment in Cail, Results

Quester - when you continue your experiment, try letting them know you will be a good boy before starting the interdiction. See if that changes the pattern.

Yeah the time-to-kill is so low against trader ships (especially with engineer mods) that there's no point even waiting around.

It's ridiculous to pit a bunch of crossword-solving mystery enthusiasts against people who intentionally look for players to interdict, fight and kill.

The question is how many would play in open if frontier would do something about "legal" and "illegal" combat log. How many don't play open because they see no point to play with cheating people who can't accept if they lose in video game. How many people have stopped playing elite because combat logging ruin hole online part of the game?

I understand that there should be official pve mode and there is mobius and solo for those who don't want pvp, but open should be place where players can go and pirate and kill players and fear players who know how to fight or players bounty hunting rather than seeing 80% combat log. Like why do someone play in open if they don't want to interact with others?

Imagine this: You go to a night club and I turn up with some friends and we are going to beat you up. You are not there for a fight, but hell we dont care and hit you any way. So if you call the cops youre just a loser who cant accept losing, right?

I dont PvP. (in my early days I killed some cmdr when I was PowerPlaying and I felt so sorry for him, that I havent done it since)

Just when I got level 3 Dirty Drives from Felicity on my FDL, I was on my way from the planet to the station above it, when FDL interdicted me.
I chatted "hello, what can i do for you?"
Commander xxx was actually very good fighter obviously... Once he started hitting me hard with his modded lasers, my temp went up very fast.
I chatted "wwwwwwwww rrr tab tab tab"
Then I managed to boost. :-D

I did a FA-off turn, facing him... We went nose to nose, boost pass... I kept boosting away (my boost speed is 450ish). I thought I would build up enough distance to be able to safely run away, but his FDL managed to turn around and keep the distance about 2.5 km, started launching rocket salvos on me...

I high waked with 10% hull... I did not even deploy hardpoints in this encounter...

Did I think about logging off? Yes I did, and I knew that if I chose to try it, I would surely die. 15 seconds is a LOOOONG time.

But I must be honest with you guys, once I combat logged agains NPC :-D It was with my weak mineconda, when elite conda pirate almost shreded me to pieces.

Well... I do not really mind, that combat log possibility is in the game. I do understand the OPs point though.

Fly safe, run fast, o7 Karlos

"You go to a nightclub that is known for beating people up if you happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. You know this in advance but chose to go there nonetheless. You're not there for a fight blah blah"

Now it's more accurate .. that is "OPEN" - where anything can go if you chose.

Open is not a deathmatch arena.

I prefer to wait for the authority to post on the forum, not a random off the internet.

Note: No more replies from me on this subject in this thread - we're derailing it.

If you don't consider FD support an authority then I don't know why you have faith in FD employees in general.

And okay.

I don't agree at all, my sample was perfect.

In order to access that particular CG, you NEED to play open. So you accept everything could happen to you, because the people I interdicted were high rank enough to understand how the game works.

The system is terribly flawed, we know it and frontier knows it, but, again, I thought only explorers and traders combat logged. EVERYONE does it, even for a simple reason like "I don't feel like fighting an interdiction".

I mean, even an Elite anaconda combat logged on me, and I'm just dangerous, far from being an ace of combat by any means.

Not EVERYONE does it. You are exaggerating even your own results. A spectrum of people across all skill levels and preferences does it, but that isn't everyone in the whole game.

I agree that it is cheating and a problem. But saying that everyone combat logs is simply not true.

I like combat logging on PvPers. It brings me great joy to taste their salty tears. I do it intentionally too - just float around a CG waiting for someone to interdict. Even a hard combat log now and again if I feel like it. It's the ultimate "I win" button.

It is.
Cuz the people who dont want pvp dont play open

Thats why I stay in Mobius. Thanks to real life losers with a need for compensation I left open long time ago. I have enough to do all day long so I want to relaxe while gaming and dont want to run away from 16 year old trouble makers.

But open isn't night club. Night club is meant to be place were fight isn't supposed to happen, open is place for fights and bad things are meant to happen as its the only place to go to have that. Open isn't meant to be safe place. Open is only place where people can do this kind of stuff and other people come there and ruin their experience. No one ask them to come to open they can stay in solo and croup but they come to open and then combat log. Those who want to play alone in safe have their option to do so. Those who want the piracy/bounty hunting game play and fight other people have no way to do that because combat logging isn't punished in any way.

Thats why i say dont play open unless you want to pvp.
Cuz thats the only thing you need to go to open for anyways.

And they would have if the Hunt event was open only, what happened to the BGS is the same and all modes equal? FDEV failed because they didn't code NPCs to find but used actual CMDRs to deliver the message which could have easily been done by NPCs in all modes. Instead they forced those who wanted to participate to go to open as if left there was the chance as DB said player's first encounter with the aliens would decide the aliens stance. Do you really want the PvP griefer groups deciding that for you cause they will shoot first, collect the tears later especially from PvPers in Open that can't play shooting at other players cause Aliens keep killing them.

"if you happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time" it is .. people will interdict and kill you. So what ? Elite isn't the happy-clappy club you seem to advocate - this is a mean cut throat galaxy, as defined by Frontier themselves. Now, that's not to say everywhere is like that but some places are like magnets ...

I have played Open(90%) for two years. I have never been interdicted by a commander. All my PvP encounters have been in RES. I admit that I mostly look for strange things and rarely venture in the most active parts of the bubble but still, Open is not a dangerous place.

Name call and stereotype people ... what a lovely combination.

Not only do you have anger issues you also like to name call and stereotype people ... what a lovely combination.
Compared to you I dont have intentions to ruin the game for everybody.

You have to respect that there are other players who want to go mining, exploring, do transportation work and so on. But you pull them down to your ruleset and behave like you HAVE to ruin their game now, because braben said "cutthroat galaxy" once.

I don't PvP (but 90% play in open) ... soo maybe you want to calm down a little and engage your brain before reacting to people on a forum ?

People in open are not there to specifically ruin it for everyone else .. there are some nice people (like me :D) however you have to accept that in open not everyone is nice ... that's the added risk you take by being there. You couldn't take that risk which is why you joined Mobius - nothing wrong with that as it's your choice, but for the rest who go into open that's the risk they take. If they can't handle it they shouldn't be there and they definitely shouldn't cheat when it goes wrong (combat log - menu logging is something else, it's not cheating but it's scummy)

How about you get beaten up on the street? YOUR risk. You could have stayed at home. Outside most people are nice, but some are not. So its your fault if you get beaten up and robbed.
