Sounds good

Wasn't there a Pirate like CG in the Lugh Conflict?

Sounded fun but was for the wrong side

I heard that in the 2.1 beta there was some stupid ''piracy'' CG? I have no clue what it was it sounded really stupid.. something about pirates can only fly these ships while bounty hunters can only fly these ships. It had nothing to do with piracy it was just a PvP brawl CG in a ring or something stupid.

If people want them, let's have it. I wouldn't participate though because the piracy CG we had during the dangerous games was painfully boring IMHO.

Pirate specific hardpoint mounted weapons. Oh man, they're be so infuriating too. As a pirate, the last thing you really want is to kill your custom. So the best thing to do would actually be to replace all pulse/laser weapons with ion based charge weapons, for overloading and disabling. They'd be good for taking out shields, but also be more likely to malfunction systems, with a much greater likelihood when a module is low on health.

And then, replace the normal munition based weapons with weapons based on pure kinetic imapact. These would be like, noble gas bombs. Something non-reactive and not actually meant to do anything more than screw up your trajectory. These would be to prevent running as well as harass, though the smaller classes of these for something like an Eagle should require a drive to be knocked out or something before its full effect is felt by any larger vessel.

This would combine pretty neatly with the Zoom and Boom concept I've pitched before too, creating a heavy class of chase ships that are indeed pirates, but not actually doom incarnate. They're gonna take your cargo though.

What do we have, pulse lasers, beam lasers, burst lasers, multicannons, and cannons.

Ion Steamer
Ion Pulsar
Ion Burst

Impact Cannon
Impact Shredder (Shotgun style weapon meant to damage a number of modules at once.)
Pinpactor (Multicannon style weapon designed to pinpoint destroy modules, high damage but zero effectiveness against shielded targets.)

So basically, a suite of weapons for pirates to leave your targets broken, crying and disabled, but still alive and with their ship. The weapons would be geared mainly for stripping shields and destroying subsystems, but it essentially removes from all but the most determined player the option to outright kill the target, unless you really want to dump all of your ammunition into killing him.

(The Ion Weapons would obviously be confined to shield and subsystem damage, and not effect the hull itself. So, they'd have to get their destruction on manually with the low impact boom weapons.)

Course you could still just blow out the cockpit and watch him suffocate to death. His fault for not buying that escape pod.

Yeah, the one for dangerous game worked well, why not.
I don't voite against pirating CGs. But I'll make sure I am not near once it happens.
The idea is valid and if you can convince FD to initialize one. Go ahead. But players like me
will avoid the region where it happens as long as it lasts.
So be prepared that there are not many players to be pirated (except priates).

Miklos

wait..

and the lawful guys hunting the pirates would be the CG trolls for this?

which side do the PVP-OPEN-I-KILL-YOU-ALL guys take?

this makes my brain hurt.

This is PvE piracy. Players won't be flying around carrying the commodities to be pirated (lets say specific convoy signals chock full of antiquities).

The only reason you won't want to be near it is the same reason for any CG. Players actively opposing it.

Same as always. Not exactly hard to figure out.

I'm sure that'll make some heads spin.. ''Wait.. they're griefing.. no wait... are they playing the game.. !?!?1!!? DOES NOT COMPUTE DOES NOT COMPUTE''

But yea wouldn't bounty hunters in this case be the griefers by the standards set by people who don't want to play in open because they don't want some ass ruin their experience.

Would be nice if they actually did it though. Like make it so there is a HUGE reward if the traders can get to enough tiers and such. But of course unless there will also be a wall of NPC pirates waiting in solo it wouldn't really work.

Ahoy lads,
i have this one question:
Would you like a pirate cg, like in having to steal stuff in PvE (as PvP piracy is bugged recently)?

We have had combat, mining, trading and exploration cgs,
but where is the cg for piracy?
I have an idea on a cg, that i might come up with in the next week(s).

Ahoy but there be an exploit see. Just jettison cargo to a buddy and it shows up as illegal salvage aargh matey! So bring ye Cutter and plenty of limpets and let's be droppin' thee some cargo. *applies as PvE as can be private group, no way to tell difference between illegal salvage from source*

There is no mechanism for piracy Cgs, as Mr Jupp says stolen goods can be counterfeited (ironically).

The only way I can see it working is if they made it NPC piracy only and had them carrying a unique commodity that can not be found anywhere else.
