There are 'bits' of an alien space ship. Broken pieces of a greater whole. A sphincter even! I have been trying to imagine what might come out of it.....

This post requires moderation......oh wait........damn..........one rule for the many, another for the few! :D

Tangible?

There are no tangible rewards: This is a computer game. No amount of credits or mods are tangible. We play for fun.

I haven't heard any words of complaint from the people who were first to the wreck site regarding rewards.

Personally, I had a lot of fun with this. If I wanted credits I'd have been doing the CGs instead.

It's been about three hours. You expect the military to be able to respond that fast with capital ship deployment, 500LY outside of the Bubble, based entirely on independent pilot scuttlebut?

Actually the CMDRs who found the wreck are likely to be characters in Drew's next book. Has anything the OP did get mentioned in book for all time.

FailedDev treats everything they do for this game with the "minimal viable product" mentality.

You do have some okay points, but the level of general salt is off the chart. And calling them "FailedDev" is like socially challanged kids in the 90s that call Microsoft "Microshaft" or "Micro$oft".
It undermines your entire argument.

Thanks for posting, ..... out on the journey to Jaques, so couldn't participate and, like some others, didn't know photos had been posted. Looks similar style to the UA's so, presumably owned by the same aliens who built those.

I will keep a look out for any ships looking like this on the way [where is it] ...... but wouldn't it be great if one of us caught a glimpse, but nothing else, at first ...... then a slow reveal gradually through the year, yet without any extra clues - just sightings by commanders (with cameras !).

Now we need an Engineer who can retrofit alien technology for our ships ..... wonder if one of those is planned ?

This is true. CMDRs and groups throughout the next year who do 'significant' things will be part of the story and effectively chronicled as part of the history of the Elite Dangerous universe.

Cheers,

Drew.

Will I be in for admitting to Ziggy on an open forum that I ate and washed up in my pants Drew?

OT - nice to know some nods in the right direction.

Something I have been thinking of a lot : are CMDR names call signs rather than names.
If a CMDR is called something like XxXloreKiller69XxX that cant be his/her birth name , right?

Sometimes the names we use are names that have been with us fer years in dozens of games, over several platforms.

And sometimes, it's best judged by how many patience someone has when trying to be original...or even logical past punching the keyboard to see if it's the hundredth name already taken, please choose another ^^

I call everyone who puts numbers in their names "Bob"

I know that. I dont go by privata in elite.
But was just wondering if in lore the CMDR names are different from our birthnames

You were expecting something different? Elite lacks even the most rudimentary narrative tools beyond links to the offline galnet metagame. FD literally lack the systems necessary to do anything other than currated community goals with longterm effects that the developers must manually add into the game. If Elite actually had a way to construct basic plot and missions revolving around it, it would have already been done. I wonder if that's why first contact has been put off for this long, the devs have no idea how to implement it in a way that isn't a hideous anticlimax. Since they apparently want instant ship transport before the Great Invasion, we can't even expect much more than these sorts of dodgy events until October.

Awww diddums didn't get a cutscene.

The best idea is hastily erected tent structures on airless moons, those seem very likely and certainly miraculous
