I know at least one of these has been suggested earlier but I'd vote for either Elite: Evolution or, my favourite, Elite Legacy.
I know both have been done to death by both Hollywood and the games industry, but they both fit really well. Especially Legacy, a subtitle that could carry multiple meanings both within the game and as a reference to the whole Kickstarter thing being funded in part by a bunch of old farts who were there for the earlier iterations

THE ELITE
I'm with Liqua.
Elite is fine as a name. Particularly as it's plenty long enough to consider it a reboot.
And I'd also agree that Elite Dangerous is most likely initially intended as a working title.

Hmm....
I like the "Elite IV : The Journey" because it so hits the Nail on his Head. In every direction. It just fits for us as pilots, for the long Travel Elite has done until the KS Goal was reached, the ongoing David B. saying: "We working on it" and so forth. I could continue that for a some words more i think. For me it just makes so sense.

Elite 4: About time
If I were FD's marketing department, I'd be putting pressure on keeping Elite : Dangerous.
I doubt anyone that is itching for it's realease much care what it's called, they just want it to be awesome ;-) but it has had a lot of media attention over the last couple of months, and there are a lot of people out there that dont really know what it is, but know the name 'Elite : Dangerous'
in 14 months (or so) time, it will appear on game-shop shelves, that name recognition will mean a percentage of people that would have otherwise walked past, will instead pick it off the shelf and read the back, and a percentage of them will subsequently take it to the till (or later mention to someone 'oh that game you saw on the news last year you told me about ... saw it in the shops today')
Yeah, I want it to be awesome, but I also want it to make loads of sales, because loads of sales will mean we get to walk on planets and wander round our ships sooner.
So I think stick with this rather 'odd' name, I'm used to it now anyway, and have grown to like it.
Hopefully FD will think about the first expansion name and maybe involve the community before the media makes it known as 'Elite : Dangerous expansion 1' ;-)

I like these but also
Elite: Beginnings
because of all of the expansions.
Naming a product is hard, really hard, so best of luck to FD whatever they decide upon.
If they have not decided that Elite: Dangerous is the final name, they could run the risk of running a poll, but I suspect that lots of peop... Commanders will say that they do not like any of them and start another thread like this one
On second thoughts, as someone said perhaps it would be wise to keep the name as that is what the KS was called.
