Still sore after the npc combat downgrade ?

The high ranked ones aren't so bad as they used to be pre buff but overal I have to agree it's kinda annoying. Better they just raised the value of the bounties accordingly. During the brief and enjoyable time the NPCs were brutal I had to refit most of my ships as if they were facing actual players and so far as I'm concerned, that's a good thing.

If I can take an elite wing of 3 in a 190m battle python, and pop 1 scb, they might just be too easy. I only had to pop it because I was trying to see if I truly needed 4.0.2 on the distributor.

Is your Python modded (not that I disagree with you)? Try taking on a pair of elite SCB spamming cutters in a CZ. You may find a challenge there.

Downgrade?

Interesting perspective.

You are aware it was a bug fix.
The bug allowed for the AI to cheat and illegally stack engineering mods.

It's these underprepared CMDR's who are the reason the NPC's were nerfed; put them to the sword, I say!

You sir sing the song of my soul.

Yes I have killed exactly 1 CMDR to vent my frustration at the lack a good fight. Then looking at the pitiful debris, I somehow magically didn't feel any better. NPCs were still dunceworthy.

Let the record show that I predicted that after 2 months of engineers, people would realize that the NPCs were a joke without access to the same mods.

OK Frontier time to notch it up. Give us some OP Thargoid scout ships to swat (us) down.

I think the best way to do this is to implement harder enemies in Low Sec and even harder in Anarchy. Those who seek challenge can go there

This is one way to go, and would definitely work for me. As it stands, the Elites barely put up a fight. I don't even use SCB or chaff anymore. We need a huge notch up in difficulty at the top end.

The players you say should pay that silly price are not the ones that took away the good AI, so not sure whats your point is.

Just about sums up my perspective. I say put 'em to the Multicannons though... How I love a "I lost not one, not two, but THREE Anacondas" thread.

There are two types of Cmdrs in this game; the prepared and the prey.

In some relevence to the OP (glad you reeled it in a bit LOL)... I'm getting so bored grinding up my combat rank so normal gameplay has some challenge (Master atm). Yep i can go into CZ's in a smaller ship for fun etc but that mission interdictor is just going to die horribly.
I've taken to stalking Cmdrs not killing them though, that's fun too... I follow, don't interdict, observe how long it takes them to notice me, watch as they react to my presence, if they wake out, follow them :D I like to raise a heartrate once in a while. I've had some great fun out at the Alien crash site without deploying a hardpoint.... You could go on a rampage with a balloon on a stick amongst some sections of the playerbase.

When my elder brother was a kid, he'd get angry sometimes and punch a door if he wasn't able to punch a person. It's kind of like that, but in reverse.

Today I think I will go hunt down those who are hauling gold in 133.
It probably wont matter if I destroy a Type 9 full of gold as the player can just whine to FD for a replacement, right.
People can continue to throw in their 'spoilt brat having a tantrum' comments, it only galvanises my resolve.
I will rack'em up later and make some lovely dvr clips for the collection. [praise]

Lol, you and I would stand in conflict there (but in a good way). I have a blockade running Conda for just such occasions. Am there right now (alas, in PC).
And... I'm off again. My wife is doing it intentionally, I'm sure. She hates it when I play. I'll be doing nothing but reading and minding my own business for an hour and if I log on for 30 seconds and she sees it, there's suddenly some domestic emergency that requires my urgent attention (preferably so urgent I have to leave my ship floating in space in Open). It's maddening. I'll wait for the girls to go to bed then :O

I've been thinking about moving over to pc, see how that goes. In the meantime however, I have my engineered Python with thermal shock and incendiary rounds to go play with later.

Sounds fun. Dirty drives or clean? Also, if you do go PC I recommend taking it one step further and getting a hotas to go with it (doesn't have to be an expensive one). What I'm desperate for is getting my gpu upgraded so I can order a VR set (Vive or OR).

Clean drives. I've had to manage power and thermal load alot as I've tried to keep the insurance as low as possible. Trying to kill other cmdrs doesnt always favour the aggressor.

VR is the selling point for me.

They fixed that bug but then a few patches afterwards downgraded the AI to fit more in line with other egoshooters on the market

No , the NPC in the current form would be seen as tutorial NPCs in the late 90s.

The elite ranked pirates are a joke and spend more time flying loops than actualy trying to fight.

There is no semblance of challenge in the game sadly.

True. As long as the increase in difficulty is also accompanied by an increase in spawn variety (context sensitive, depending on location and BGS state). Meeting all Elites, all the time, because they are tied to your rank, and large ships all the time as they are tied to your ship size, is also tiresome.

Am I missing something? I thought the lower ranked NPCs were rendered worse fighters, while the higher ranked ones were actually upgrade. That's what it feels like to me. The Dangerous and above NPCs are well equipped and fly well.

They're better, but they've lost the use of strafe and have no fa off (unless I'm mistaken). They DO have some engineering effects, however. This includes scramble spectrum so careful should you have a stealth build or lose your shields for any reason.
