Does anyone actually enjoy driving on the planets?

Yes the scenary can be very nice but i find the expereince frustrating at best. Endlessly spinning around and bouncing off the smallest pebble just gets annoying after al while.

Yes it might be realistic but it sure as hell isn't fun. Maybe I'm just doing it all wrong so if anyone has any good tips etc then I'm listening! :D

I agree, BUT I know in my case it is because I am driving too quickly. It is an untouched planet surface not the nurburgring. Hopefully we will get hover versions that maybe go slower, but don't suffer the same issues at some point in the future

It's nice to do it with the Oculus Rift. It's like the first man on the moon. Great feeling. But it will not last forever. : )

Yes, I enjoy it immensely, as long as I don't _have_ to drive around becasue I'm in need of jumponium mats or want to modify something. I already enjoyed exploration without planetary landings, but being able to land and drive about on some of those moons and planets and feel their gravity makes it even more fulfilling. It's quite the time sink though. ;)

I love it. I don't ind it o difficult like you said. If you spin you did something wrong. On very low gravity planets you can not hit a rock on 80 speed ;-) ofc you will spin.

I love it!

Light control is everything, especially on very low gravity planets (check the exact extent of the gravity before you land)... More throttle control and opposite lock helps too. Or turn Drive Assist Off... Then you realise on the low grav one's you can fffffffflllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! I tried to make orbit from Charon :D... Huge fun to be had.

Get one with a sunset going on or just aesthetically pleasing in other ways, perfect relaxation... I sometimes just land for the lolz, If I hear a Metallic Meteorite I'll grab it if I can be bothered.

Stick with it OP. I hated it at first too.

don't go full throttle unless you know you can....im always on the throttle adjusting it whilst flying over the landscape...little bit of thrust whilst in the air ect....
I use my hotas to control it...yaw for steering and throttle for.... err...throttle.

im waiting for the day we can drive to a ocean and submerse under water in these things.....and no not subnautica.

First time out started off slowly, got faster spun out got even faster and spun out again started going weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee in my front room as I got the hang of it, started doing jumps got faster and faster here's the big one............oh crap...........that's a craters rim............................it was along way down and the airbag gave me a nose bleed not been out since

I can't say that I enjoy the driving itself unless there is some goal or purpose, but I do enjoy finding polonium or ruthenium in the SRV or scanning data points at bases for Cracked Industrial Firmware and MEF. I have found that I can tolerate long periods of SRV driving much better by turning the volume off as the loud whine of the SRV's engine is actually quite fatiguing if you spend a few hours driving it. Many players who hate the SRV don't realize that much of their dislike actually comes from the sounds as it is quite frustrating to try to listen for the wave scanner sounds over the noise of the SRV itself. Since I can read the wave scanner accurately by sight alone I don't really need the sounds to find mats and find it much more relaxing with the sound off. I've also learned to drive at high speeds without excessive bouncing and I try to find high-g planets if possible to do mat gathering as this minimizes the SRV bouncing and damage compared to driving on the low-g planets.

I love it too, you can cover some serious distance when you get the hang of landing smoothly. It's great fun.

Although my first time driving the SRV I chose to land on a massive mountain and drive down while figuring the controls as I went... that wasn't so fun lol. Spent most of the time going backwards completely out of control :p really do enjoy the SRV though. I think we need a much faster rally/racing version. That would be amazing.

Edit: forgot to say I use an xbox pad. I have no idea what it's like with m and k or flight stick, but it feels nearly perfect to me.

I find it relaxing... and the sightseeing sometimes is stunning. It's also nice having to care about things like gravity, high gradients, big bumps, different rock sizes... It would be even better if the planets were more extreme, with more abrupt terrain. There should be planets where ground travel would be impossible. But all in all, it's a nice change of pace.

Love it, great drive\fly model, can't wait to get out and walk into a base and check out the inside of it.

Exploring alien worlds by rover is actually one of the most awesome experiences you can have in the game. I dont need things to do, just drive. I live it. The first landing i did in the Horizons Beta was one of the coolest moments in the game...

I hope the CMDr whos ship inexplicitly crashed when recalling it does because hes like stuck on it forever... Seems a strange situation people can visit him give supplies but not rescue him..
