I see the game is still a Joke....

So I've been away from ED for about 4 months and recently bought an Oculus so decided to give it another go. Gotta say that the VR experience is fantastic. But after 2 days of playing ED again I see there are still many issues I thought would have been ironed out by now, like the issue I am experiencing now:
I have a simple delivery mission but for some reason the game thought it would be a good idea to spawn a Fer de lance with master skill level to take me out on my final jump; I mean the game really knows how to annoy you, it waits until I'm 5 secs away from the station before interdicting me. This would be fine if I could somehow get away from it but I see FD are still cheating when it comes to AI; it doesn't even appear on my radar when in SC then bang, I am being interdicted and it pulls me out of SC instantly. I drop out of SC and my shields drop within 3 secs and there is no way I can fight it so I jump out of the system. I jump back (after repairing) and the cycle starts again... This isn't my idea of fun.

NPC's shoudl still be relatively easy to escape from, submit to the interdiction, then 4 pips to shields and boost while FSD spools. If you have a half decent shield in, assuming you dont have a heavily underpowered shield in, jinking from sie to side shoudl see you get away. if they mass lock, you can always high wake to another system, which isn't affected by mass lock.

As for the NPC, it is probably due to the level of the quest and or your rank. With a bit of prep you should be able to evade pretty much all NPC's.

I guess the FDL is crap.

Usually at interdictions I shot the AI ships up within seconds with a bigger ship.

They told you ships would come after you when you accepted the mission. What did you expect? The only difficulties in the game come from your own lack of knowledge. If you know how, everything is possible. If you're unsure of how to deal with any situation, ask on this forum and you'll get the knowledge. I guess you're going to be getting plenty more surprises, so be prepared. The whole essence of this game is learning how to deal with whatever the game throws at you.

If an NPC is after you, just log off and log back in. Worked for me in the latest CG. Sure, it's a workaround (or a cheat) but I hate interdictions. Especially in a shieldless T7 with no weapons. ;)

I can't see how you can take off the VR headset and call the game a joke considering the incredibly shoddy state of VR software right now. Elite is the cream of the crop other than a few driving sims.

Your best bet is spend more time in outfitting getting your ship to the point where it is able to defend itself and less time on the forums.

try fitting a bigger shield and some mine launchers if you don't want to dogfight but still want to make the interdicting ship ded.

NPC's are indeed tenacious, some npc's spawning from missions can be an irritation, but they are hurdles to overcome

Most things with NPCs have improved somewhat, but yes, spawning directly behind you in super-cuise in perfect interdiction range is stupid and needs to be looked at.

I see nobody actually read the OP. The issue is with ships instantly appearing behind you and interdicting you without ever being in super cruise.

I read the OP, but as the occasional instant interdictions are something that i presume FDev are looking into, the only response is to deal with the situation once it arises.

that is a bit cheaty IMO, if you choose to run a shieldless T7, that is a choice you made that can bite you in the a##, and instead of taking the repercussions of your actions on the chin.. you choose to exploit & log..... Please don't encourage this kind of behaviour

It happens the majority of the time. Ships also able to follow you well beyond their jump capabilities. It's a huge issue. This is all due to the poor instancing system.

Agreed it would be much better if the interdicting ship didnt just magically appear out of nowhere. Hopefully that's on the list!

However you can easily avoid death by interdiction and escape to your destination by a combination of using chaff and submitting to the interdiction straight away rather than fighting it and losing. If you submit straight away you wont be pulled far away from where you were and you wont have a hard SC exit and can boost and chaff out of there right away with no damage.

You have a great headstart once back in SC and 9 out of 10 times make it then without any further hassles :)

The interdiction are a bit over zealous. To put it mildly. Sometimes you don't see anyone for an age, and then all of a sudden you'll be pulled out of super cruise four or five times in succession often more. It's not made the game harder, just more tedious.

That is not an exploit. That is using a game mechanic as intended.

You what? There's lots of great vr software out now! For example Onward was released last week and is already taking the (Vive owning) world by storm as a game changer.
