T9 Pilots, show your precious!

Yes, I stated I would love to have a T9, but I don't, so I just posted pics of my T6 instead. I then asked people to post pics of their T9s.

Well get yourself a T7 first and fly that as that is a dog and then when you think you can't get worse buy a T9 and it'll make the T7 feel like a vulture.

Here's one of the very few pictures I took of my Yellow T9. Yellow as it stank like ... :D

6A shields is that enough? don't you get shot down in seconds with that one?

I used to run class 7 on it but I needed to shuffle some internals to make room for the fighter bay which I assume going to use class 5 and 7 internals. After testing my trade conda 4A shields modded with level 3 thermal resist and a combination of shield boosters with level 1 resistance and heavy duty mods I figured I could work with class 6 modded on the T-9. My trade conda stood up pretty well against a FDL interdictor, but needed some help from the system security forces to take it down. I usually run away in most cases, and definitely if it is another conda.

Once we get space-legs, I'm looking forward to the threads of people complaining that they got lost inside their Type-9, or if we can eventually board another's ship, that a pirate got lost in someone else's Type-9 :D

When is this happening? October?

I was in a combat zone yesterday, and one of the NPC factions were using T9's as their "big ship" class. Kind of awesome, I've never seen that before.

I like all the T-ships, they are gorgeous. I hope they get a balancing pass soon, because as many have noted, they don't really fit well in the current game. "Stepping stone" is a terrible niche for a ship to have. I want the 5th small hardpoint on my T7 enabled at least, lol.

T6, T7 were transition ships, on the long long road to a Python.

No idea now though, maybe they are pointless since earnings allow you to jump straight through.

IMHO T9 is one of the best looking ships in the game, it's just you rarely get to see it.

The thing is ginormous and looks so great, in VR a landed white T9 with you in a buggy really is a sight to behold!

They are massive, and massive targets too, but with a good shield you're good to go.

My Type 9 which went to Jaques back on the initial CG. Took her ages, but she get there and home. Will always be part of my fleet.

Pic of her en-route to Jaques with 400 tons of cargo, insane amount of jumps, but she never let me down.

Great thread - I'm interested to know what sort of modiications T9'ers are adding - does Dirty Drives 5, FSD Increadsed Range 5, armour etc change the essential lumbering character of the ship?

I've never owned one (Annie ownere here), but love the model and look forward to its hopeful re-classification as a potential pocket fighter carrier.

Incidentally, I dropped into a Combat Aftermath USS and found a destroyed T9 (I'm sure its a common USS). She'd taken quite the punishment.
Needless to say I rescued her cargo and made off with some choice components and other bits :D

First one I've ever seen in white... immediately make it look like an imperial ship from Star Wars. Epic.

I can't imagine how many jumps it took you to get to Jaques.

T-9s are definitely in the CZs now, and they seemingly are there most of the time, and in addition to other larger ships. I have seen them in combination with both Anacondas and Federal Corvettes, so far, as I am sure that other systems aligned with the Empire will probably have T-9s and Cutters in CZs, so they don't actually replace the largest warship.

I am surprised that you ran a Size 7 shield on that beast, sure it gives more shields, but that is a huge drop off in Cargo to sacrifice that size 7 module for a shield - although that does sound backwards by saying you are sacrificing cargo for shields on a ship.

Here is my build, when I am looking for something completely different to do in game. However, since the Vette was released and my build carries an approximately 384t of cargo, I haven't really bought and fitted out a T-9. I bet with modded thrusters, shields, FSD and distributor, it makes for a much better ship.

Although, I am holding out for the Panther Clipper. Ever since I first learned of Elite I wanted that Panther Clipper when I saw it for the first time on the wiki.

I love the white color, and the amount of jumps it took, she only had a Tier 4 average rolled FSD mod on her, it was painful...... Space insanity reigned supreme........
1749 jumps each way! - I watched the complete series of Battlestar Galactica (new series) doing the run.

She carries 500 tons of cargo at 160 m/s, 24.56 light years (17.74 laden) at a time.

Got a T9 for mining. Not at home, so can't grab a pic at the moment. Still currently working on kitting her out, and going to engineer her up.

Here is the build i have (or will have):

Use the prospector to identify a good rock, then should be able to start shooting immediately with the lances while flying towards, meaning plenty of fragments for the 11 collectors to go grab when in range of those.

Planning on getting grade 5 clean drives to help with manouverability in the enclosed spaces of rings.

How do you avoid getting attacked? Or do you fight back and if so, how?

I have mines in all the medium hard points. The key is submitting. Your FSD cool down is only 10 seconds then, rather than 40. Then you ensure all your pips are in shields (4) and engines (2). Then you deploy your launchers and wait for the bandit to pop up on your scope. Put him at 6 o’ clock and fire away while occasionally boosting. Any AI NPC is toast.

Occasionally you'll snag an elite Anaconda with an SCB. Run from those, because you're probably not going to break his shield and all that wasted time takes too great a toll on your shields ( and my shields are pretty weak. )

For live people I just stay calm, submit, set another star system in the nav panel, and jump out. Repeat if necessary.

Or play in solo. :D.

I bet you would have loved a autopilot to plot an fly that route right? I know I would.
