Farseer's level 5 FSD upgrade .... wake scans

That worked for me too. Now I just need a few million in exploration data to unlock level 5.

Tier 4 is reached by about 1,5 millions or so, maybe 2 millions, then make up to 3 t4 upgrades and your done

Edit: you can do a eco-mode 1kylie "exploration" and back just east of deciat or jump manually to A,B,F,G or K-Stars within a circle and scan every sun, HMC,WW and maybe ELW to get to that amount of scandata fast.

Yeah, Jameson is awesome for wake-scanning. Had the same problem as you, Ziggy, but just going on scanning got me four of them the next day. It's like finding Polonium. Don't give up. Maybe reset instance..

I think the trick is to not farm for them specifically, but let them come as a result of other gameplay.
Run a few missions? Strike up a trade route? Gain a permit? Earn a rank? Fortunatelym wake scans are not too prohibitive to find.

I figure I must be missing a trick here. I've scanned about 50 of those b'stards and not a single strange wake solution. I have scanned near stations and high res extraction zones.

Kicker is, you need 2 of those for a single roll, and I found not a single fricking one.

As ze Germans would say: Was der frog?

I got both of mine from missions...

My solution to the problem was posting about it on the forum. Because fer sure, after I posted this thread, the next hour I found 4.

Which always happens.

So, got my stuff together for 1 roll, and rolled a 42% increase on FSD :)

This is not even a proper German sentence. :D

Since you probably mean a variant of WTH (the other common abbreviation in this manner is censored...), we say:

Was zur Hölle? ("What (by) the heck?")
Was zum Teufel? ("What by the devil?")
Was zum Henker? ("What by the hangman?")

:D

You forgot 'Was zum Geier?' ('What the vulture?') It's more appropriate for Elite. :)

The thing about wake scan data is that the best way of getting it is something that you pretty much wouldn't ever be doing otherwise, namely sitting at a station and scanning all the wakes around it.
Sure, you can pick up a mission or two when you rarely get one that gives you those strange wake solutions, but if you're looking at the mission board, odds are that you're probably looking for something else - probably mission reward-only commodities. (Which are my biggest annoyance, by the way.) So the wake scan data is unlike most stuff in that you deliberately have to go looking for it, as opposed to getting any from activities that you'd be doing anyway.
Or maybe it's just me being weird like that.

Yeah there are more of these, of course. Like "Was in drei Teufels Namen?" ("What by the three names of the devil?"), "Was in aller Welt?" ("What in the whole world?"), and then let's not forget that all of these can come with any other question word like "Wie" ("how"), "Warum" ("why") etc. :D

Seems the game is somehow "psychic" that way :D

Just found three distilleries just by hanging around in a HiRES, doing nothing, just watching pirates shoot miners. It was strangely soothing. :)

That surprises me. I've not seen NPCs drop materials unless I've played at least a small part in killing them.

Im sorry if I sound stupid and Im sure this has been stated else where but, have you checked your inventory to be certain you have room for more data? The only reason I ask is, I too was looking FSD wake data and was coming up empty and was becoming rather frustrated. Then I checked my inventory to see if I had something else unrelated and realized I was at max capacity and had to discard some large data amounts that I had accumulated. I went back to Garay station and started scanning and got some kind of wake data from EVERY SINGLE wake I scanned. As I said, Im relatively new to the game but if I did it, chances are someone else out there is also frustrated and this may be why you arent finding anything. Good luck!

That's really unlucky.
I can only suggest you to stay at a station with high NPC traffic. Some stations have more of it than you can scan. Has taken me about 8 hrs to get 5 of these silly strange wake solutions.
But one good news stays, you find one? You get 3!! :)

This is a bit of a Necro lol

Datamined Wake Exceptions(I believe that's what they're called) are considered to be Very Rare. I've had the best luck going to anarchy systems and hanging around the nav beacons. I do the same when I need chemical manipulators as well.
