***POLL NOW CLOSED*** IMPORTANT, OFFICIAL SHIP TRANSFER POLL

It was actually 100 minutes to cross the entire bubble. The bubble is a little bigger than 100Ly. Don't forget to add refueling to the mix too.

Refueling? What kind of peasant do you take me for? I stuff a 256T fuel tank on the cutter and cruise like a king.

I believe that would require dedicated servers rather than the peer-to-peer system elite uses.

What are your thoughts on refuel/rearm times and cargo loading?

err... Been said multiple times... no gameplay inside stations, just menus, if you're ship's stuck for reloading or cargo you can't really play. When we can walk, I'm up for that though. At present, transfer delay does not prevent you from undocking and you know. Playing. ok unsubscribe, because I feel I'm gonna spend another life on this new thread.

What's really unfortunate is that this forum is essentially an echo chamber the more hardcore players who are deadset on killing a feature that would have helped the casuals in a game that is already extremely casual hostile.

If you check related topics on gaming sites not specific to ED you'll see that many who play ED but not exclusively ED are confused by why anyone would want to add artificial wait to a game that is already full of massive time sinks.

Sadly many of those who will be hurt the most by the delay aren't even aware that there is a vote.

Ok, let's get this straight because it seems to be going over the heads of the instant crowd. Implementing ship transfers with realistic times for shipping will not delay gameplay. Much the opposite. It will reduce waiting times drastically by allowing you to continue going about your business while the ship is transferred over. No one will be hurt by this. Not anyone. No ones gameplay will be hampered and you will not be forced to sit in front of a loading screen while the ship/s is/are transferred. It will without question add to your convenience and eliminate the need for a "taxi" ship so you can focus on other tasks while this happens. Again, repeat after me, your game will not be stifled by this in any manner. It IS a qol improvement. The delay is a concession heavily aimed at game play and ship balance mechanics with a nod to immersion. It works for everyone and breaks nothing. This is a good thing. Compare it to what we have now. No more need for taxis when relocating. You will be able to move from one task to another without having to go all the way back to your other ships if you have even a modicum of an ability to plan ahead.

So if they add space legs and the ability to walk around, would you also want to load your ship by hand? Maybe if you're rich you could buy a fork lift and then you could play this:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/273940/

Loading 720 tons of space poop by hand at Sothis would sure make that run less appealing. Also to add realism the smell should make you nauseous and you would need to take breaks which you'd use to reconsider your life choices.

I hope either side will accept the result.

If we get a delay, I'll accept it, even if I don't like it. Will the delay crowd accept instant if that's what the poll says has the larger support?

I know how you feel on that. I cant convince any of my friends to play anymore because they already play Eve. I cant convince them that flying your ship is better than clicking a button and waiting. Dont worry I will invite them back once we turn this game into Eve as well.

It's a step in the right direction. It could have been a massive leap but instead it got turned into a small step forward.

This. And a lot more of this.

I can't believe this huge QoL feature is being stymied by the hardcore before we even got to see it in-game. Why oh why would you advocate for an artificial wait time in a game? Especially in a game like Elite that can take people an hour just to get to the place they want in the ship they want to be in.

Spot on about only the hardcore (if you're reading a game's forum then you are not the average gamer) voting in the poll while casual gamers that this QoL feature was aimed at are oblivious that their feature is about to be dead in the water.

Well, at least we agree it is a step in the right direction.

Sure. I really enjoy this game. I'll be massively disappointed with instant but I doubt I'll stop playing, especially when FD do things like ask for our opinion which I really respect.

All of my EVE friends played this but quit due to feeling that the game was empty and did not allow them to interact with the world in any meaningful way or play with friends. I don't think the vast majority of the EVE crowd will be interested in ED until there is ability to build outposts - even if no PVP at all exists. There is a huge number of carebears in EVE who love the industrial aspect and have zero interest in PVP and basically 'tolerate' it in EVE. Sadly EVE is a 4 letter word to most of the vocal ED players so it'll never happen...

I don't sothis. And keep your sarcasm for someone else, your agressivity is just shameful. This is what I like, and I won't put a thread demanding this cargo loading mechanic, a completely different debate already. My taste, to each his own. Now just gnash your teeth if you like.

With live results? Where does it stand - I don't Tweet

You may have misunderstood.

The poll should have been right here at the top of the thread so everyone could see the voting in real time.

The only reason I can think of not to is so that they can minimize backlash when their decision on what to do disagrees with majority opinion.

Why else not make it public for everyone to see?

You could very well be right.

Really? So you're hardcore too?

Play it your way and blaze your own path then and do not use instant transfer just like you don't use Sothis. Let me play it my way. Thanks.

You do know that the jump range of a modded Anaconda destroys an Asp dont you?

<snip>

by doing your scenario

<snip>

You will have to remove all armaments defense and shields. You would also be able to boost about once every 30 seconds. Good luck sufviving anything in that build.

Well, I was just replying to someone else's scenario, not my own.

But stripped ships... my fully A-spec tradeconda had an unladen 22.72 with full shield/weapon loadout, stock, that's been FSD/PP modded to a respectable 38ly and 1224 shield strength. I never advise traders to go weaponless or shieldless.

Really? So you're hardcore too?
I am yes. This is my playtime from steam:[h=2]74.5 hours past 2 weeks[/h]
Vast majority of people simply cannot play that much.

Whatever happens won't affect me personally much. I didn't mind what an absolute nightmarish time sink travel was in Everquest - where you had to literally sit at a dock and wait for a boat that would slowly make it's way across the map. When the Nexus got added and allowed for INSTANT travel to all major zones there was a huge uproar from the oldschool community but many realized that it was a change that made the game more enjoyable giving players their free time back to do things that they actually want to do and enjoy doing.

Same applies here. Sure I could "play the game" while I wait for my ship, but obviously I'd rather be playing the game with the ship I am transferring.
