Title: Pilots Federation members are called to vote in referendum.

A proposed Galaxy wide ship transportation system has caused a lot of controversy. As a result and in an unprecedented turn of events the Pilots Federation together with all three major super powers and many independent systems have decided to call for a referendum on the implementation of the new ship transport system.
During the planning phase for the new system many members of The Pilots Federation have voiced concern that the travel system will badly impact their way of life and now members of the Pilots federation have been heard and asked to cast their vote. Please log into your Pilots Federation account and have your say. Consulting company Frontier Developments have been called in to manage the referendum and details of the controversy can be found on the Frontier Developments discussion forums.

Title: The Federation's Stance towards the Empire

These times have been quite exciting to say the least with the new barnacles, probes and possibly a crashed alien ship! The empire are over the crashed ship now and I believe they have good intentions for it. The Federation do not like the empire being there and even contradicted them selves when talking about the Empires intentions.

"The fact is that they have no authority in AB-W B2-4"

In that case. The Federation should leave the Pleiades sector entirely. They are mining the barnacles for there resources and some commanders even think there depleting them! The Federation really need to think this through again.

One commander spoke,

"To be honest, the federation was trying to seize control over the barnacles first, they also started to build resupply post's in the Pleiades sector to. Im not sure what they are up to but I think they are up to no good." - CMDR CookieJarvis

Title Canonn response to Ulla Burton
Title we can count to four
An undiplomatic response was broadcast from an obviously inebriated Canonn member to Ulla Burton's derisory claims. Space crab .... Pah we at the Canonn can count above four. Where are the missing appendices if this wreck is a crab? You may as well claim it's a walking sterilisation unit as a crab! We at the Canonn are independent and not need of outlandish claims to further our so called celebrity whims as miss Burton is. We are mostly serious scientists and using our name to gain headlines is a cheap shot. How many pincers do crabs have? Where are said crabs descendants? Did it just die out? We at the Canonn work for humanity's good not for profit, if only others followed our lead. We have made and continue to make observations, but we do so in a more professional and less self promoting manner. I suggest that miss Burton in future works in the realms of reality rather than the dumbed down trash for market appeal that she currently peddles.

TITLE: Independent Access to Mysterious Wreckage Denied

DESCRIPTION:
The recent deployment of Imperial warships to the site of the mysterious shipwreck discovered in the Pleiades Sector AB-W B2-4 has already stirred up controversy. Independent onlookers have been quick to point out the blatant hypocrisy on the part of Imperial and Federal leaders, noting both powers are hampering independent research efforts in the Pleiades.

An independent observer, Commander RAH HA HARRIS, who was at the wreckage site when the Imperial deputation arrived, had this to say of his encounter:

“Shortly after they appeared on my scanners I overheard something about ‘setting up a perimeter,’ immediately followed by a hail of missiles and bullets before I even had time to realise what the hell was happening. I mean, I didn't even get a warning for loitering! This is unacceptable behaviour.”

Commander RAH HA HARRIS is also reportedly seeking compensation for damages his vessel sustained during the exchange, totalling 450 thousand credits.

TITLE: Civilian Fights for freedom at the crash site (Or) Imperial defence compromised
LOCATION: Pleiades Sector AB-W b2-4 and Galnet

DESCRIPTION 08/09/3302 19:00
Earlier today a member from The Canonn interstellar research group (CMDR Chichoff) responded to an act of aggression from imperial forces while trying to conduct scientific research of the crashed ship in Pleiades Sector AB-W b2-4 , He is believed to have single handedly take down many of the fighters and defence modules on the Imperial Majestic Class Interdictor, Canonn, after discovering the site, intended on it being open to all.

Chichoff also stated : "The fact that I took down a Majestic Class Interdictor with a single ship shows how much the Empire needs to reassess the situation and to start investing in some more reliable military ships. We do not know what any alien civilization could plan for humanity. Should an interspecies war occur - speculations aside, an alien invasion for example -, the Empire is currently clearly unable to defend its own citizens."

Title: Imperial Hypocrisy

A usual phrase used by imperial aligned CMDRs to justify hostilities against the Federation is "The Federation is a warmongering military-industrial complex.". But is this really true?

Out of the four major conflicts between the Federation and the Empire over the last months only one was caused by federal aggression.
Two of these conflicts, namely the battle for Daramo and the now ongoing battle for Mu Koji, were in fact caused by imperial expansion into federal space.
One, the battle for Neits, was caused by imperial intervention in an independent system after a federal faction tried to take control of said system.
Only one out of those four conflicts, the Battle for the Pleiades was caused by federal aggression, after a federal call for aid was actively sabotaged by imperial aligned pilots. Federal high command consequently launched a preventive strike against the imperial installation in the Pleiades to impede preparations for further aggression from the Empire.

After three losses in three battles the Empire should consider very carefully if it is really strong enough to face the Federation in yet another war of aggression.

Title: Radio Sidewinder Crew Lottery Under Scrutiny

Description: With an impending expansion state expected shortly in Na Chem, several members of the Radio Sidewinder Crew have organized an impromptu lottery, betting on which system RSC will expand into next. CMDR Jonuss has stated that "any system within 30 light years of Na Chem is fair game", and that the winner/s would be greatly awarded with a prize equivalent or greater then 4,800,000 credits.

Popular bets include 31 Epsilon Librae, 16 Librae, Tachmetae, and Wolf 561

However, rumors that the lottery is tied to an illegal Imperial Slave smuggling operation and that the prize is in fact 400 tons of Imperial Slaves have been vehemently denied by CMDR Jonuss, and CMDR Arbitration, one of the head administrators of RSC has vouched that the lottery is "perfectly legal and within the boundaries of the law".

Title: Metadrive Receives Counter Offer
Where: Galnet / Alternatively: Okinura, Chi Orionis, Sirius
When: Any time

In a surprising turn of events and as a bid to keep Metadrive, Inc. intellectual property in Federation hands the Earth Defense Fleet has taken control of the Chi Orionis system. Rumours that Metadrive was developing new hyperspace technologies has sparked a lot of interest throughout the galaxy.

"Mismanagement of system resources by the New Chi Orionis Resistance led to the problems that placed Metadrive into receivership. We had to act fast to try and keep Metadrive’s tech under Federation control," said EDF Sky Marshall Vicktore Beskore. "A concerted effort of our entire fleet delivered control of Chi Orionis into our hands. It is our hope that, through this action, we can at least temporarily block a collaboration between Metadrive and Sirius to allow time for them to consider other options. The Earth Defense Fleet would gladly work toward directly funding Metadrive ourselves or to broker a deal between the company and Core Dynamics.”

Jaiotu

---------------------------------------
Note to Editor: When the existence of "Metadrive" was made public last month EDF took notice since Chi Orionis is one of the systems where EDF has a presence. The Earth Defense Fleet went to immediate work on Chi Orionis' BGS and, as of yesterday, emerged as the controlling faction. We're very interested in seeing if our actions will have any effect on whatever narrative Frontier has planned for Metadrive. None of us expect Frontier to make any radical changes to that narrative based on what we've accomplished but we would be greatly appreciative if the news got out that we did at least try to keep the technology in the hands of a Federation corporation.

"Sky Marshall" is the internal title given to EDF leader CMDR Vicktore Beskore. Please feel free to change that if it is not in keeping with Galnet editorial policies.

Title: The Alliance Returns to Leesti
Where: Leesti, Alioth, Gateway, Wolf 406, Lave
When: Friday, Monday, or Tuesday

The sixth of September is now etched into the already storied history of the Old Worlds. The Justice Party of Leesti has held dictatorial sway over the system since early November 3301. Power was only an arm's length for the JPL, as time passed more and more Leestians grew tired and distrustful of those governing them.

Over months, the AEDC worked tirelessly to reach the billions of citizens and convince them to rise up. Gains, followed by setbacks, marked the protracted campaign. Kolmogorov Hub was taken, then lost while AEDC's resources were devoted elsewhere. Weeks followed with consistent gains, until the last straw was burned. With the war came the reveal of how reticent JPL's resolve really was. Scores of ships fled George Lucas. Even as the call rang out to sympathetic Pilots, the transfer of power was already being signed.

At long last, Alliance democracy shines from Leesti.

----------------------------------------------------------

Please note: At first I realize this looks like yet another post about a system changing controlling Faction, however there is more to this. AEDC has been working to flip Leesti back to the Alliance for the last several months. This is an extremely high population system and a lot of player traffic trading at George Lucas station. This makes influence movements extremely hard to make in significant numbers. We have run thousands of missions over the last couple of months to trigger the civil war for Independent Leesti for Equality and it finally went active this last Saturday. We called out to friendly Alliance player groups to help in the civil war and many joined in the fight to return Leesti to the Alliance.

We believe this is also significant because Leesti has in past games and lore been an Alliance system but since November of last year has been ruled by the Independent Dictatorship Justice Party of Leesti. Even with the enormous amount of missions done to trigger the civil war, once it was started it was won in the minimum time frame for a civil war of 3 days. This was a coordinated effort by diverse Alliance player groups led by the AEDC.

Title: Logistics industry Booming in Rhea
Where:
Rhea, LP 726-6, Orishpucho, Amun, Masans
When:
Saturday, Sunday, Monday

The system of Rhea has been in economic boom for some time now and this has had a knock on effect to the logistics industry. We got together at Ito Orbital with one of the companies that have recently been formed in the wake of the boom, Vector Logistics. They are partnering with major Federation Corporations with their biggest partner being the East Galaxy Company.

Their co-founder, CMDR FingersMcGee had this to say on their success:

“The boom has allowed us to increase our net worth by a whopping 30 million credits within the past few weeks. With the boom in trade we have increased our delivery range to up to 150 Light years in a single trip. Our fleet currently consists of two Type-6 transporters and we have a Type-7 currently being outfitted by our lead engineers. Keep an eye out for us, soon we will be Vectoring in a direction near you.”

Check back weekly for more success stories
