Should ED start instantly when launched or should there be a delay?

While I am with you on wanting a delay, I shall not make the mistake of thinking that the exit poll reflects the official poll.

Remember, the exit poll is only available to forum users, whilst the official poll was E-mailed to EVERY SINGLE ACCOUNT on the planet.

for playing on a xbox or wanting the quick fix gameplay?....console player.....the avatar.....it says it all.

I think buying a ship is too quick. There's no salesman pitching leather seats & extra cup holders.

Also looking through mission updates is too quick, where are the cold callers, spammers?

When using a docking computer and waiting in the queue to dock I expect a man to come clean my windshield. Docking Computer is too quick in this regard, windshield man would add depth.

Completely off topic but what's with the compute shaders? I tells me it will only have to do this once unless I get a new graphics card, but it does it EVERY time. I don't mind as I have a nice fast machine with a GX970 so it only takes about 5 seconds, but is it just me? Do I have a fault in my setup, or is the message just wrong?

I get it as well.

I have heard that loading them on launch saves you from weird texture loading in game?

Must be doing something right as my game runs smooth as all heck on a 960 like this.

Don't be so sure. Exit polls have a time-honoured tradition of getting it wrong on occasions.

I've known canvassers standing outside a polling station that said "From the number people that said they were about to vote for X against the number of people going past in total, X should have won, just the margin was uncertain. However, they lost". This means that a significant number of people who were willing to provide an answer to the canvasser, saying they were going to vote for X just before going in to vote lied.

What about rust proofing and insurance in case you dent your hull?

I dislike the black screen delay before the stars show up on loading Elite just before the title. It's too long .... I want instant stars .... because they are instant in real life.

Why not make the whole game instant. At startup you will be asked your goals of the day, which rank do you want, how much credits, how many kills etc.
Then on the next screen you'll see your results like "You've reached Elite Rank in Trade, you've gained 4 billion CR, you've killed 5 CMDRS and 30 NPC's and you saved about 4 hours of your time. Spend it wisely. Right on Commander" and the game closes. And on the closing screen it says "You know how you can save even more time ? Don't play this game."

I voted for delay :)

Indeed - or possibly duplicate the obscure networking bug that effectively kept my PC at the initial black screen (before initial logo) for about a minute and a half for no purpose whatsoever - very immersive that was. It certainly heightened the anticip....

It's not really doing it every time. It just displays the same animation when it's only checking the shaders. When it *really*updates the shaders, it takes much longer. You'll be able to tell.
