Greetings, programs!
It has come to the board's attention that the controversial "heat meta" has become a problem with no solution in sight. SDC and many other PvP groups like AA and IW have abstained from using heat weapons in combat, since they are a horribly broken game mechanic that get in the way of fun combat with no way to counter them. However, this has sparked many comments on Reddit and the forums that we all need to "stop crying" and "get over it" (more on that later).
So the next logical question is: "How does a broken game mechanic become fixed?" Excellent question! Let's take a look at the 2.0 NPC behaviour as an example. While not a problem (challenging, but not impossible), it was by far the most complained-about topic on the official Frontier Forums, and also one of the most quickly-fixed ones. So what made it so quickly patched? Let's have a look at the timeline in a nutshell:
("issue") + (endless forum complaints) = (FDev's attention) = (fix)
Now let's apply this to the heat weapon issue:
(issue) + (numerous PvP player complaints) = (zero attention from FDev) = (no action)
Going off this, it is quite easy to see what the problem is. It is not a matter of the *quantity* of the complaints, but also their *quality* in regards to the place that they're posted. Frontier does not respond to PvP player complaints regarding balance, but rather the complaints of Forum regulars in regards to their gamplay. The next question that arises is: how do you make the heat meta an issue for the majority of the Frontier Forum regulars? Ah, another excellent question! That is where the game's resident terrorist organisation comes in with a new, purposeful campaign: Operation SpicyBois
For now, return to your trade routes/extraction sites, hold your wingmen close, and wait. Soon you claim what is rightfully yours. Let the games begin!
Yours lovingly

Disclaimer: no heat weapons will be used against PvP groups and/or in proper fights.

- What is it?
- Why are you doing this?
- I just got roasted by a wing of SpicyBois, what do I do to stop this?
