Horizons Another Ship Transfer Issue

Ok, So we will get ship transfer soon. It maybe instant or delayed. I can forsee another issue.

A example

I have two ships in a far away station. 1 has a modded weapon or module that I want to transfer. The problem is I can't remember which of the 2 ships has the unit & i don't want to transfer both ships or both modules.

At the moment the Shipyard gives you very little data on ships in via this menu. For example Remote ships have no data & even local ships have Core Modules like Sensors are just called Sensors with no class or other stats.
We have no ship name to go by.

My question is : Do we know if the ship stats are going to be improved here so we make the correct transfer choice ?

Do you really have so many ships that you are not aware in which one you have which modules?
Is it really necessary for you to transfer a complete ship just to switch a module?
As far as we know, this can get REALLY expensive so better hold modules in the ship where they should be, and a module you use on more than one ship, hold it in the module storage.
Than you can transfer just the module so that it will get cheaper.

I'm hoping that i have it right in my mind that we will get module storage/transfer too.
Otherwise this advise is just crap :D

You really think this'll be a problem? It's not the game's job to tell you what you did where. Remember where your modded stuff is or go get it yourself.

Yes I believe we will get module storage too. No material or commodity storage.
I am guessing that you can transfer a stored ship or a stored module, but if you want to get a module of a stored ship you need to transfer the whole ship. <Speculation>
I do have a few ships and plan to get a few more, but as many ships share the same module size I do tend to chop & change a lot to get the best out of my ship.

How useful is this infomation on the stored ships I currently have. Below is a fragment :

Reactor Bay
Power Plant

Thruster Mounting
Thrusters

FSD Housing
Frame Shift Drive

I just hope they give the shipyard a bit of love.

I agree with the OP, more info on ship stats would be helpful. Some players have multiple builds of a particular ship that could get confusing.

ANOTHER ISSUE - Only Two ships can be at any given station at once, one in storage on the one you are currently flying...

At present you can only have two ships in one station. Try storing more and you run into problems of not being able to select the ship you want to use and usually have to sell one to access the other ship! Will this be addressed at the same time so that all locally stored ships are selectable from the shipyard menu? I have 5 ships but at present I have to store these in different stations (all with large landing pads!) to ensure I can switch between them. It's a headache, and I'd like to think it won't be made worse by this (very much wanted) feature.

Come on, foebits do you expect us oldies to remember what we did yesterday?
But I do agree it is nobodies job to remember for us. Those of us with bad memories get married.

Horse-hockey! I have all 4 of my ships at one station. A FAS, Viper III, DBS and a T6. When you select the ship from storage it works exactly the same as when when you buy them. Honestly, I've never understood the whole 47 different versions of the same ship thing. Chose a home station the has good outfitting and be done with it.

Good point actually.

The "remote Shipyard" Options coming up would benefit from giving the Ship Equipment details as we can only see them now when browsing the local Shipyard. Remote currently displays "Information not available".

When you say, 'only two ships in a station': Do you mean, two of one type of ship? I have 5 ships stored at Cubeo. 2 Sidewinders, a Viper, a Cobra and a Courier and have no issue with getting at them etc.

I don't understand how this problem has occurred for you. If it is persistent (try buying cheap ships, such as a Sidewinder and Hauler, and store them at the same station to test this), then if confirmed, you will have to contact FD support - you shouldn't be seeing this limitation.

As others have said, this will be a problem only when people begin using ship and modules transfer&storage to clear up the mess which is now their fleet.

Once people sort out their fleets, the ideal situation will be that you will only have one hull version of each ship, and all additional modules intended for that ship will be in storage. There's no point to having money tied up in expensive ship hulls when you can store modules for free. Also transferring stored modules is supposed to be cheaper than transferring an entire ship just for the sake of one module.

The only situation where I can imagine people having more than one ship model is when they have different builds and they don't want to have the inconvenience to outfit each build every time they want to fly it. If these players are willing to keep funds tied up in ships, just for the convenience of hot-swapping builds, then they should not worry about accidentally transferring the wrong ship (build).

Who have told you this?
I have 23 and later 24 ships stored in one station. As far as i know the max cap is 24 ;)

I've been suggesting this since Gamma.

The shipyard screen has looked like a placeholder since the game was released.

"Information not available" ??? why?

We should have been able to See details, buy/sell modules at the remote stations or even buy/sell ships where we have ships stored a long time ago.

If we're getting module storage and transfer capability, this will be a critical feature that will highlight this need.

Somehow, I expect FD to stay true to form and implement the shiney without the fundamental development that logic would dictate should have been their first.

Hope I'm wrong.

Another fact of the shipbuilder screen is that things like the max speed and jump ranges are all current with the shipin storage. So, unless you have 2 identically modded ships you can tell them apart from thier stats. Yes, naming would b better, but it is not impossible to tell the ships apart.

I know a dude that is having many Pythons with different loadout, like 5 or 6, whatever. Or, imagine somebody else that is having 10 vipers or any kind of ship with different setups. It should be logical to see what and which ship have what, right?

I have 16 ships in one station and have yet to encounter a problem. I have heard that when you reach 20 or 25, then the problems begin.

You may have to spend a few minutes taking some notes in the beginning. Then just use module storage to move your modules around.

I have some vitamins here to help with memory problems. Somewhere around here...
I'll send some over as soon as I remember where I put them
