So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

Why write all that stuff CoR?

Could have just gone with "sure execute her, but make sure she tells us where the rift is first, and not through some murder mystery puzzle. Coordinates!"

Because she doesn't know!
She's had access to far more information than she's ever shared publicly and all she's managed to achieve is to get herself disappeared (twice).
Quite frankly, she's bloody useless.

Nah, don't apologize - the fact that it is localized to a few star systems really makes it look like it could be something deliberate, rather than just weird behavior. I felt it was far more believable (in story/lore terms) than the disappearing nebula thing. I was rather disappointed when I didn't see anything - although I did only check one system.

I also would suggest that anyone else within a few thousand light years swings by and checks it out for themselves - it always comes back to "it depends on who goes looking".

IF, and I say IF, it's a bug or system-related malfunction, FDevs could have the most elemental politeness to tell us. So many players loosing so much time (looking for a "..it depends on who is looking..", "...looking at the tapestry from behind..", "..it doesn' involve only one system") etc , etc, etc .. for a game bug ??? No wonder so much player base is loosing interest....

FDevs, please : SPEAK (..if it's a bug, if you don't we'll assume it's story-related ;) )

Loved Lady Kahina in the book, but she lost my support when she became a terrorist.

I hated her character in the book, was hoping she'd get stabbed in the face at the end.

I'm hoping Frontier hangs her , or beheads her, or whatever. Good riddance.

I am not cut out for this exploring thing.... SO many jumps and I'm only like 5000 ly from home. Not sure I'm ever going to make the rift...

Explorer's ship IS home ... if not, better do fighting or trading.

What's your jump range?

Put a movie on, read the forums, eat junk food and drink liquor...

It's better when you're in the area of operations and looking around places, I promise.

The Phoenix Group is (or was) another player group. Links to their website are dead (goes straight to a go-daddy registration ad). I'm curious about what connection Kahina may have had with the group.

Phoenix...mythology... yeah, other things are mythological, so this must be another clue. ;)

Oddly enough, the site worked for me yesterday but I too get a go-daddy link today. It wasn't very exciting though - even after reading their site, I still have no idea who the Pheonix group were.

I'm at about 41 LY, I'm on Xbox so watching tv isn't an option while playing, although I'm sure the forums will pick back up after the 2.2 beta releases, so that's an option.

Oh man - I don't think I could cut it either without a 2nd screen to read forums/watch videos during those long travel stints to distant locations......

Aisling is blaming Kahina for the instability(Emperor's Dawn). That's a nice way of getting the attention away from her self.

The people backing Aisling and Emperor's Dawn are probably working to get Harry on the throne. They arranged the fake assassination attempt on Pat and framed Kahina.

As long as Aisling is able to steer Pat by his pants, he can be quite useful to them.

If anyone in the Empire is going to support Kahina, it will be Arisssa. She has everything to lose by giving the 'Traditionalists' a victory. If they gain momentum, they may be able to reverse the Lavigny family coup of the throne.

Open questions:

- Is Pat a naive as he seems, or does he just play along?
- What is Trovald's position? She is obviously to smart to give anything away, but I have a feeling she knows everything. She is a traditionalist, but she also dislikes Aisling and probably Harry as well.

And what would any of this have to do with the Rift? Sigh. This whole "everything is going to be connected to everything else" idea may not be such a great one, and be a killer for the pacing (and comprehension) of what could be individual story lines.

And for the love of Randomius Factoria please FDev/Drew don't link the Rift mystery to Powerplay. That would really be the final straw for me.

Yeah, I can use my surface for that kind of stuff, but I find that while transiting, I really don't have time, I'm always jump, scoop, scan, jump. I don't identify every body while transiting. Maybe once I get to EAFOTS and actually start looking for stuff it will be an option.

I'm still trying to see the possible connections with the Rift and the barnacles. The Rift has supposedly been there since day one, so how can it be related to things that were added in expansions? Hopefully there's a meaningful connection and it's not just thrown together. Of course that also assumes we ever solve the Rift.

It only links to the Powerplay characters. Nothing in the game links to Poweplay mechanics. ;)
