Ship Transfer Costs - These Prices are Nutty!

This is just another so called quality of life improvement... same value as the surface map of planets... just a useless garbage!
two great features burried straight... all thanks to "mah immersion" i guess...
Thanks FD for nothing!

I think they accidentally multiplied the cost of ship transfer by 10 in line with ship prices coming out of Beta.

It's got to be a bug. Ridiculous pricing.

And by the way, I was an avid proponent for delay and making it non trivial to move ships.
Dude, pretty sure you SPECIFICALLY said the price and time were fine.

You told me on numerous occasions to "get over it and stop complaining since we lost", how about you take your own advice? It is how it is.

That is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. To be going on about instant at this stage is, unhelpful at best. They will probably listen to fair and balanced feedback.

Some more numbers. Lets say I want to get one of my ships to Walter Dock (140ly away, a typical CG distance):

Viper 4 - 122k
Cobra III - 138k
Vulture - 340k
AspX - 500k
Orca - 1.1m
FDS - 1.1m
FAS - 1.3m
FDL #2 - 1.3m
FGS - 1.9m
Python - 1.9m
FDL #1 - 2.1m

Can't tell about the Conda, as that is what I have here. All transfers take 29mins.

Sounds more or less reasonable to me, anything below the Orca even cheap [noob]

Game finally loaded.

Well, I arrived in Sothis. Nothing to say about that.

But. I've just been to the shipyard and I have to say I think the prices are very reasonable based on where I am.

Bringing a Fed Corvette 500ly is nearly 36 Million. Bringing my Python from further is 4 mil, a Hauler from Ray Gateway is only under 50000.

I had a Cobra III in Ceos for the data transfer missions (very underpaid now) and to transfer that takes six minutes, and costs 3,290.

I completely get Alph087s point and I would rep him if I could. But these are better than I expected.

Other threads are claiming they are broken though?

Passenger missions?

There seems to be a bug where the passenger lounge and mission board doesn't always display - but if you keep flicking between menus, it will eventually work.

If you mean the reward prices are broken - I really don't know about that - but they are more or less the same values as during beta.

all thanks to "mah immersion" i guess...

please stop muddying the water...... the prices are totally separate issue from magic instant transport. You trying to bundle them together just makes it sound like your toys are being thrown out of the pram.

Personally I would have no problem with FD lowering the prices a bit... I thing which surprises me is according to sandro this is CHEAPER than what it would have been had instant of won...............

I do worry a bit that the game is being balanced against those who ran billionaire cow muck hauling missions for the last 12 months....... If so this is a very bad thing imo, as not all of us chose to hit that money printing machine.

(TLDR - I agree with your view that its pricey if you want to use regularly, just stop trying to merge in with other "features" which got changed for totally unrelated reasons!)

Thanks for that!

Honestly, I'm just not going to use this feature but at the very least it seems the prices for smaller ships (which I think most people have) seem to be fair enough.

One thing that really gets me is the time. I could go there and back by the time it took to transfer one ship! I'd rather just do it myself and save a lot of money.

I am happy the feature is fine for some people, I just wish everyone was happy rather then a few.

I could get my corvette there in about half an hour for free. This has to be a joke.

Those are reasonable times and prices. I think that some simply lose perspective when comparing to a ship move to Jaques. That is a LONG way...22,000 ly. That is nearly 1,000 jumps in a 25ly jump range ship, with a slot taken by fuel scoops. Add to that, most hulls and modules can not be bought at Jaques. It should not be easy to have fully kitted big ships that far out.

At this point I'm beginning to wonder why FD even bother creating new features if they make them so inaccessible that hardly anyone will use them.

Wow, yeah: that's chump change. Very affordable and easily earned back in under two hours.

Thanks for coming up with some actual figures based on a realistic transfer in a variety of ships. It turns out people have been going crazy for the last 5 pages for no good reason! :)

Reply #24, the nonsense is parodied.

I had to look up parodied to make sure it's right. Looks as if Paro died. And I never really got to know him :(

In all honesty, it's not just #24, it's pretty much the entire forum. Especially if Frontier decides to introduce a QOL feature.

"Instant transfers.." - "but it's not fair to meeeeeee or my immmeeeershuuuun.."
"Long range hauling that pays well.." - "but it's not fair to meeeeeee because I don't leave the bubble!"
"NPC bounties that pay well.." - "but what about my traaaaade roooouuuuteessss..."

There's a theme that crops up every time Frontier threatens the immersion or senseless grind that's seemingly favored by the old guard.

Um. No they haven't. Just because you like them does not mean nobody else has said anything valid.

Elite is not just your game, it is everyone's.

I think the devs wish that too.... If ever you figure out a way to pull that one off you will be very rich indeed.... but with a playerbase who often want radically different things I am not seeing how it is possible....
Allow for both cheap delayed and pricey instant...rather then just over priced delay?

3.5 Million to transport my Type-9 a few LY.

5.5 Million reward for one passenger mission at a distance of 35ly, (takes around 5mins).

Doesn't seem too bad to be honest. Passenger missions seem to pay very well. ;)

I think the point is kinda being missed. The time saved moving the ship needs to be taken into account with the time it takes to earn the money back you spent

If you do passenger missions don't you end up at not the place you wanted your ship to be, and so need to fly back too?

It's not just about the credit cost, it's also about the value of the players time to get back credit wise where they were.

Yes the prices are stupid and make the feature almost pointless. I cannot understand why there has to be any cost at all. A time delay perhaps. May as well not have added the feature. Initially I thought it was an out of game QOL feature. Very disappointing, in an otherwise magnificent patch.
