Reducing distance costs by 50

If I had a second monitor, I'd be watching Netflix anyway. Many people do. And once again, this just looks like you being scared of instant transfers. As long as the community votes for it, and FD are willing to listen and make changes, that's that. I don't know how many times I have to say this, but still; it's the same process that made transfers even have a delay in the first place. If the community turns around and says that delays were a bad choice, you're going to have to live with that. Just like the 30% now have to live with delays. Take a hint from your own arguments and get over it.
Can we take a second to realize this dude is making a correlation between bad steams reviews, ship transfers, and the downfall of the whole game? I feel like some people are really reaching to make their arguments.

I originally thought cheaper would be better. But ziljan's argument makes a lot of sense.

I am against instant it just doesn't fit with the game for me. I think it would completely change the game for the worse.

I can't see myself ever using it. I like flying my space ships in my space ship flying game :)

This logic would be useful, but very much is not the case when looked at Exploring or Trading unfortunately. A combat fitted conda can get to a 120 ly station in about 4-5 jumps, 6-8 jumps in a corvette, both fitted for combat with maximum rolls on increased FSD and combat fitted, now that 120 ly station would take you half an hour to transfer said items over to said station rather than picking up said module or said taxi ship in the first place. However each jump only takes a mere 30 seconds to really complete, of course depending on fuel scooping which could only take up a minute anyways.

It's a butchered Moriarty quote from Sherlock, sorry. Awesome series [up]

I'm glad there is going to be a price reduction, tbh I don't know enough about the subject to say if 50% is the right figure.

I think the fundamental problem is understanding the average wealth of a player. Someone that has 10B cr or more to their name is going to have a drastically different PoV to someone on 50M cr net wealth. FDev need to make that call because only they can see 'the average wealth of active players'.

So you're a 30% person who wants more people to be as miserable you are until the whole thing collapses and community gets as toxic as ^this post?

Thanks for sharing your pro-apocalypse argument. But no thanks.

I'm a 30% but I'm willing to compromise, but not like this. I was more expecting a 10-15% nerf to the time limit if anything. But honestly, with the way how this "QoL" feature is turning out, I wont use it for ships, only on modules, cause its useless for me as a large ship pilot.

It depends on how much they want the feature to be used. They've already dropped the cost by 50%, so hopefully that demonstrates they want players to use it as a QoL feature rather than an option of last resort. If the current prices are too excluding of new and resource-limited players, who knows? They may go even lower.

Honestly, with the reduction in price I'm okay with the feature. It's something I will only use once every few months probably and I will never use it for anything other then a small ship, but it's now not totally useless in my mind.

The thing is, even if I had 10 billion I would still never waste 3-36 million on transferring a large ship. Though I'm sure some others would.

Hey Ziljan! Whatever happened to accepting results made by FD or the community?

Apparently doesn't mean anything as soon as you don't get everything you want! Who would have thought me calling you out to having double standards would be correct! Not me that's for sure!

And also, do you come from the future were you know as a fact the community will collapse based...on ship transfer costing less and maybe taking a little less time?

Oh...you don't? So you're just making it up as usual? Okay, got it.

It's only a slippery slope fallacy if you say 'this WILL lead to this, which WILL lead to this'. If you say 'this has POSSIBILITY/POTENTIAL to lead to this, which then has a LOWER POSSIBILITY/POTENTIAL to lead to something else, that's good forward thinking.

And this is just Frontier over balancing something that didn't need balancing... again. ;)

Now - nerf bat, meet passenger missions? :D ;)

Except that it's already happening all over the forums.

The whole reason 70% backed delays is because several threads from the fabric of the game are at stake.

Like it or not, all of these threads are intertwined. Start yanking at them and the 70% shrinks until half the people are unwittingly voting for undermining the core mechanics of the game.

I used it a couple times to bring all my ships to a new home, then to a newer home. I thought they scaled it perfectly for ship size and expected wealth and timed it perfectly. I spent a total of about 2million and I have 18mil in the bank. It wasn't a trivial decision.

I'd rather it was left alone or reduced by 25% and I agree with Ziljan's concerns but I think we have to wait and see. There may be more balancing in the future.

Um...what? Miserable? Where did I say anything about being miserable? And how was my post in any way toxic? All I said was that this decision was made the same way as the decision to include transfers in the first place: a community vote. If shorter transfer times get voted in, then so be it. You'll have to live with it. It's really not that big of a deal. Personally, I only had an issue with the pricing of large ship transfers.

And a "pro-apocalypse argument"? Are you even reading what you're writing, or are you trolling now? (That's a legitimate question. I don't really know at this point.)

And the core mechanics of the game are...what? Running back and forth with cargo? Mindlessly shooting at NPCs for hours while they try to face-tank you? Hitting "J" over and over again?

Bit like an OFSTED inspection I reckon. We used to say that if this is all they can find to focus on then we must be doing things pretty much right.

And the core mechanics of the game are...what?

Core mechanics at stake if "transfer cost-delays are trivialized" refresher course:

-how we routinely get from A to B
-scale of the galaxy
-ship balance based around jump range
-massive effort required to engineer short range ships to 20 LY wasted
-everyone flying taxis everywhere
-and everyone's favorite: immersion

If the transfer cost were 50% of current prices at the start no one would have complained, now they want to half it the immersion/realism brigade have grabbed their pitchforks and torches again. Predictable.

The costs are objectively high or low based on cost and availability of rebuying the ship locally, and the cash reserves of the individual pilot. Engineered ships are obviously priceless, so they are almost always a bargain at any price if the need is high enough.

Imho the core game mechanic of forcing you to manually fly everywhere is deeply flawed. A tiny fraction of players venture outside the bubble because of this. As much as I like ED and genuinely think its a good game I'm getting awfully fed up with long journeys to the point I don't start the game sometimes. Ship Transfer with a sensible but not punative cost and delay is the way forward as is NPC co-pilots imho.

Woo,

I am happy of the news. I will go test it right now.

Oh wait...Is it the cost or the delay that has been reduced ?...
