General / Off-Topic 2.2 made my Ignore List explode!

Not to my knowledge. I tend to block anyone using an Anime-Avatar to prevent retinoblastoma.

On twitter, I probably have thousands of people with anime avatars and egg avatars that are blocked.

My blocklist was at over 20,000 last time I checked. A lot of garbage people there. If anyone wants to know why twitter is a dumpster fire right now, it's because for 10 years they let people abuse one another with no repercussions.

I love block features. I also love that some people think it's censorship to block them.

Passive as in "I am ignored by somebody": would be great to know what the record might be, but I doubt that we could find out about that.

Moderators can see this, but will not talk about it for privacy reasons. We don't know what the limits are for 'ignores' - that info is buried somewhere deep in the forum code.

I find it so hard not to respond to stoopid posts but sometimes i just cant help myself and it always ends in tears. Only a few on my ignore list. I always assume that people do these long rambly or offensive posts because they care and perhaps there is some truth in what they say. Or because it amuses me...

No Ignore list for me. If a post does not please me, I do not read or I pass quickly on it
That's not possibe! This happens:

Have to ignore a few special snowflakes. :)

And Frontier is to blame! (just kidding)

The forum, especially the Sothis thread and all the "2.2 is disappointing/rubbish/meh" threads were really instructional over the last few days. They brought out all the chronic vitriol sprayers, doom and gloom sayers, Space Citizen Fanbois, "Frontier is Evil" bots, "They nerfed Sothis so everything else is rubbish" complainers and every other imaginable idiot under the sun.

Fortunately, there is the forum sanitizer in form of the "Ignore User" function. Usage instructions on this function should say "Apply liberally to trolls and other socially challenged forum posters". Which I did recently, my list swelled from 10 entries to 60 in two days and suddenly the forum is much more fun to read. Admittedly, I also used the Rep function much more than usual.

My only concern: how big can the Ignore list grow before impacting forum performance? Is there a hard limit?

And: what is the record number of Ignore entries that a single forum member might have?

You can add me too :)
I have also some things to complain about 2.2 but also some things to talk about how great they are.
You're decision to ignore the opinion of so many people playing the same game.

I don't use the ignore-list function. Instead I maintain an ignore-list in my head. The beauty of that system is that after some time I forget who's on the list. That way everybody gets a new chance after a while. It's my experience that some forum regulars go through cycles of posting interesting comments and then becoming annoying for a while and then becoming interesting again. That up-and-down perception is subjective of course and probably caused in part by my own mood swings ;).

:D reading OP post made me smile and rep given (fully agree). And regarding 'ignores', I found more useful/practical function 'ignore thread' which works quite well. Except very few (fortunately) 'don't like' trols are most of complain threads one-time matter.

You are not on my ignore lists. I have no problem with criticism, just with obnoxious whiners, socially challenged rude people and those that have nothing to add but "Frontier stinks" to every thread. Why should I waste my time to read their scribbling?

I've only got a few people on my ignore list permanently. I occasionally add someone and then take them off again, so it's more temporary.

I've been feeling like I might be on a quite a few ignore lists, I've been replying to threads left & right and I rarely see a reply with quote.

Anyone, anyone, test, test? :)

It depends what I suppose. I'm pretty tolerant, because I understand that I'm always right, and everyone else is just misguided. Its not their fault.

In 16 months I've had one person on my ignore list. Just one, and I took him off the next day for the same reason I hope others don't have me on their ignore list. We may disagree on some topics and I'll defend staunchly what I believe is right, but at the same time I'm reasonable and I'll admit fault when I'm wrong, and just because we may be at odds on one thread wont keep me from having your back on another. I wont be insulted; I'll show respect and be civil so long as everyone else does the same, whether we agree or not.

There is no limit on the ignore list. But lets say if you reach 1000 people ignored, I'm just going to say it: It's going to be a lonely place.

There's a few people ignoring 100+ other users. There's a few users being ignored by more than 250 members. ;)

Just as a FYI, the thread and forum ignore list caps out around 20 or 22 items. vBulletin bitfield hard-coded limit.

Can't imagine why. [alien]
