This game..........

How many times does this need to be said? Elite Dangerous is NOT EVE-Online! Could it take some things from EVE? Yes, absolutely - but it's not EO and it never was supposed to be.

and thank goodness I say .......... but something would have to take it, for example? the market, for example? that fear you have when you have a ship 200 million, here is the insurance! Dangerous? naaaaaa

the elite community to luck is not like that of eve, another Mittani no, please!

Band Of Brothers + Goonfleet forever. Well, not any more, they fixed that, but I still made a nice bit of money off that.

Physics disagrees: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_of_light or http://physics.info/constants/ if you prefer. And yes, it's typically writ: c

I was just being tongue-in-cheek to keep up with the spirit of the thread.

c is not a speed of light. c is a property of spacetime (and materials and everything). It's a constant, depending on other properties.
The fact that light travels at that speed at all times is just a side effect of it not having any mass.

But strictly speaking, saying that c is a speed of light is as accurate as saying that Mach 1 is a speed of Bell X1.

Something we can agreed on!

Erm, as much as I do not wish to side with the absolute lunatic who compares No Mans Lie to ED, I do have to side with him on this one.

c = speed of light in vacuum. And since physics won't allow for anything to travel faster than the speed of light, that makes speed of light a constant.

There are other constants like this in our universe (26 if I recall correctly), better known ones would be :

h = Plank constant (shortest possible distance)
k = Boltzmann constant (limits of kinetic energy within gas)
r = gas constant (governs gas laws)

and

c = speed of light (fastest possible speed appart from shifting spacetime itself)

Thanks, D?
But absolutely lunatic? Nothing is absolute.. nor is c actually constant... https://arxiv.org/abs/1411.3987
But we're getting down to splitting infinitesimals...

But say what you will, I'll still watch your videos, but pick on me too much and I'll skip your ads. ;-)

c was discovered thanks to light and is often described using the speed of light wave propagation through vacuum. Yes.
But c is not a speed of light. It is ALSO a speed of light, but if no better description is available, it is a speed of causality.
Hence the letter.

:p

I wonder, what does the speed of light with my post ............ ......... mah come to rome we drink a coffee, the Italian one the best!

Well ok, you are right, if you wanna dig down into relativity and lean towards quantum physics, then yes, c is speed of causality, however it is a vital part in Lorentz Transformation which also happens to predict the maximum speed possible within our universe.

This is a long topic, but if you really want to be THAT politicaly correct, then c = speed of light, BUT c = speed of causality FIRST

Now back on topic:

If OP cannot accept the sand-boxiness of Elite and refuse to find the fun himself, the game is lost to him.
That's my opinion, for what it's worth.

Please don't skip the ads, I'm about to hit the 3 dollar profit milestone :D

And please don't get offended by stuff I say, I'm well known for having a flair for dramatics :D

OP does seem like a laidback kind of guy, and most importantly of all - does not compare ED to No Mans Lie , like some people Q.Q

So my verdict for OP would be to simple give it time.

In Elite i sometimes set out to do something and compeltely wander off in a different direction simply because I see an interesting star, or a planet, or a moon, suddenly im on a moon orbiting an earth like planet thats orbiting a black hole, sitting on my coach in front of my huge TV and just staring at the beauty before me.

Say whatever you want, but there isn't a game out there, nor probably will be any time soon, that can drop your jaw to the floor when it realy wants to, like Elite can.

Ignore my added logo here, I was messing with this image long time ago before I even had my youtube channel and managed to save over the original :D but I captured this screenshot myself and still remember it as one of the best experiences I had in any game, just driving around this alien looking planet

First of all sorry for my english.

Ok I come to the game: you do a question what's dangerous in Elite? absolutely nothing, you lose the ship? there is a rebuy, remember in Eve when I lost my ships !! a disaster!!! ships destroyed and millions paid to buy them I needed to work very hard, not here, here we have insurance!
Here you play for money, only money and more money! and once you reached the billions you do? you're bored!!
What is your intervention in the galaxy? zero!
Elite is increasingly become a wild grinding and unfortunately it all comes down to a "jump jump jump jump (n times) just to be the largest ship then?
They put passengers missions that serve? to explore the universe?
The market is much more interesting than my house!
combat? I do not see players around who are willing to fight, a healthy non-pvp arena but in the space where is it ?? (Which I suck at pvp is another matter! Ahaha)
the final question is: what is the purpose of Elite Dangerous? where you must bring the fun of Elite? to do a thousand jumps to see the center of the universe? and then? done missions just to get credits, million credits? and then?
A sandbox should give users something more than what Elite offers, do not you agree?
while I keep playing in the hope that they tell us something that is worth doing, so why run without a goal well .... it is frustrating!

Fly Safe Commander!

Sounds like you should just go back to playing Eve. If there was no insurance then a lot of us would not be playing Elite.

Wow.. least coherent thread ever... Lets see if we can summarise... OP doesn't like the game, everything else is just messin' with sasquatch.

That doesn't sound like EVE. Last time I played I had to buy an insurance package and as long as I had paid up, same thing in Elite Dangerous. Nothing horrible happens. Have you been flying without Rebuy in EVE?

Of course it's been a few years.

You play for money. I play to fly ships. I'm having fun. You aren't. One of these things is not like the other....

Intervention? You mean impact on the galaxy? Haven't been playing the BSG have you?

Well we are flying from system to system for things other then combat.

Passanger mission, good for exploring the universe, seeing the sights, and getting paid for it.

Are you talking about the ads for Elite or the Trading? In which case, get a cargo ship and start trading.

I think you're looking for CQC which is on the main menu and can't be reached in the game. Otherwise you should try following the CG's.

Alright. The purpose of Elite Dangerous is to fly a ship and have fun doing it. There is plenty to do in a Sandbox but it seems to me you haven't quite figure out what it is you want to do or what you find fun. The game doesn't hold your hand and send you off on an objective. It leaves you to your own devices and you haven't quite figured out what to do. Try joining a group and get involved with their agenda or make your own player group and set up your own agenda. It's worked for me.

Inch deep and mile wide, inch deep and mile wide,
There’s a space game flowing deep and wide.
Inch deep and mile wide, inch deep and mile wide,
There’s a space game flowing deep and wide.
:)

Rep for the attempt but it doesn't flow off the tongue well.

As a "retired" biker, a Gulf War Veteran, parent of a teenager, and help desk technician, actually offending me takes both effort and a certain talent few possess. If I were any more laid-back, I'll fall over. But I do love a good debate, even heated argument, so long as it doesn't turn personal, or degenerate into the intentionally offensive. I also love to play "devil's advocate" and am known for taking the most opposed sides or least popular views - even when I openly disagree with them, because I find too often people just cannot make their point, or communicate it articulately, and because it can be just plain fun.

Peace and Profits!
