Why did you kill me?

Wow. SMH. I dont like griefing, but this is a horrible attitude to have to Open PvP. The OP did not even mention griefing, or repeated killing, in their post.

Obviously not, otherwise the OP would not have been asking the question. If you want to have a rant, why not go to the Open vs PvP Megathread, where this post will eventually get dumped and forgotten? :)

He had this Question because he didnt know before.
Most People either never Try Open or get Killed and simply leave Open.
Unless your going for an CG System you can have Weeks in Open without meeting someone.
Take a Guess why.

I don't normally play in Open, but I did today and I got interdicted immediately by a cutter, which then killed me without a word. I wouldn't have minded if they actually said something in the chat.

Well you see.
Some People just dont have any Joy in Life.
<Badgering >
Hence they Randomly Kill People in Games which allow that.

Best Stay out of Open.
There is no meaningful interaction with other Commanders anyways. So aside from PvP there is no real sense in being in Open.

Quoted for truth.

Plus, that PvP is that sort of mess in the game, is FD's fault, for not implementing a meaningful "crimes amongst players system" into the game - why PvP is not fun except for < Badgering >.

As someone who has played the game for about 2 years, and uses ALL the modes, I can tell you now that is not true. But go on telling people that if it serves some purpose. There are many different nodes and places where players congregate. And it is not all griefing and trolling, I have only seen it once in all that time. It is not an argument worth having though. As I said before, it belongs in the cupboards with the other 1000000 posts.

I wanted to ask the pvpers in the community why they kill other commanders when there is no in game benefit for it.

Because they have no imagination. They can't play a role. Short attention span. They're boring. Probably get bullied in real life.

They are just gamers, you coming here an calling people names is just as bad. Many online games are PvP, so many players buy the game for this purpose. they are just normal people. The person who destroyed this OP did not repeat kill them, they did not taunt them. They just engaged in combat. And Won. Look at all the pathetic name-calling in this thread, it is embarrassing to read.

The better question is: Why do you die?

Can you not pay attention to what is going on around you?
Can you not high wake after submitted to an interdiction?
Can you not wing up and find some safety in numbers?
Can you not drive your SRV around a hot spot and leave your shipped parked unprotected?
Can you not give up some cargo to save your ship?
Can you not adapt your playstyle to a game that allows open pvp?

There are many legit reasons to kill another CMDR - and FDev doesn't consider killing any CMDR on sigh to be griefing, and indeed considers it a valid playstyle.

Don't turn it into a 'anyone who kills another player must be a loser' garbage - that makes YOU the loser.

The 'griefing' accounts are vastly inflated because of the belly aching that goes on about someone being blown up (see reasons above), outside of CGs and a few other hot spots, seeing a CMDR is rare, much less one that tries to kill you.

I think the griefing problem in open is higly exaggerated, been playing in open since the game came out and only been killed 2 times and that was before i learned to run away. Most commanders i meet just mind their own bizniss and great you with an occasional "hi" in the chat. But on the other side i dont participate in communety goals so maybe thats why i dont see the a-holes that much:p

I actually think the people who engage in name calling on the forum are worse by several measures. The PvPers are just playing the game; the name callers are denigrating real people in the real world. The fact that this behavior is allowed on this forum is mind boggling.

I will tell all you name callers this: your behavior on this forum, as well as your sense of entitlement, is exactly why groups such as SDC thrive on shooting you like fish in a barrel when given the opportunity. The more you engage in name calling, the more you expand the very climate you deplore.

System blockade, CG blockade, PP undermining, merit denying, revenge kills, player hired someone to kill another player (so the attacker has no reason but the one who hired him), protest/turmoil (community related), being wanted, PP faction being hostile, known combat logger, part of a hostile player group, supported hostile players or player group, for the fun of it, other.

Basically there is always a reason apart from "for the fun of it". :)

A real pirate after my cargo is interesting. A psycho killer who just kills smaller ships for nothing is BORING. my opinion. Don't tell me how i should think. You think its ok, fine. I won't tell you how to think.

I'm not telling you "how to think", I am telling you to stop the childish namecalling, this is playground tier

Well PvPers complain no one plays in open any more, and when they do the go round ganking them for easy kills, then wonder why people don't play in open LOL..... That's a little unfair as most pvpers are actually decent players and good folk, looking for other pvpers to fight. It's the few small minded or slightly ones that ruin things, don't tar everyone with same brush I think the saying goes (little bit like bikers are considered lunatics because a few are)

I nearly always play in open and it is rare to come across this type of player in general play, certain areas will be more likely (CG's and Engineer systems). Most of the time you come across cmdrs just going about their business, some say hi (the polite ones) others don't. Don't let one death spoil your game.

Have you not watched any of the streams or videos these "pvp" commanders produce?

Lets just say that its not just one side that is name calling not to mention the making of humiliating video's, invading private groups, never-ending reddit baiting/carebear comments etc. Neither side in this debate -which has been going on for years now- is free from toxic elements.

Since when do two wrongs make a right? I don't hang out on Youtube; I hang out here. I've noticed that threads that are started by PvPers are shut down pronto on this forum, and threads that run wild with PvEers actively denigrating PvPers are given free reign. I'm guessing that when my posts are actually noticed by the moderators, this thread will get locked for being too argumentative.

Last weekend I shared some time with a group of murderers outside of a station in a cg. Their gameplay felt boring and nauseating to me. Looks that they enjoy it though, what can I do?
