So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

Nah. The transport ship taking her to the penal colony will be attacked and boarded. A tall man in a black suit and mask will demand that she give him the plans to the Death Star. Kahina will complain that just because he named his CMDR "Durth Vaydur" that doesn't make this Star Wars and complain that he is breaking her immersion.

Durth will become angry and choke her to death.

With one last breath Kahina reveals the secret of the rift as the word whispers from her lips, "Rosebud..."

She wake's up screaming, thank gawd it was all a dream, as her pet cat Salome paws her for breakfast when she can sip her favorite blend of coffee formidine. At least starbucks is still around.

Some oddities, I couldn't bring up passenger missions at Hiram's for quite awhile. Yesterday the area around Prism was littered with systems with military economies and today they're all gone with only Facece still being one. Koontz Asylum is boooorrring a square box unprotected with a public data beacon you can scan and nothing else you can do. You'd think a prison would at least be guarded it wasn't.

Time to go touristing to the hottest spot and then back the black.

Added it to an old post so prob no one will see it but trianglulated a central spot be tween the three constellations Gal [a distance out there] 136.8 0.4. +- .5 degree or so http://imgur.com/a/nzYGH Sure it's meaningless but its on the way.

I'm new to Formidine Rift mystery; CMDR Evaldo got me hooked. I had the idea to turn the R-R line into the R-R pipe. I wrote a program the looked collected all the systems in the EDSM that have a perpendicular distance less than 5 LY off the line. My first surprise is that there is a group of 8 systems with "EAFORTS" in this narrow pipe. Eafots TH-C b54-2 is only 2 light years off the R-R line. I plotted these system, the Heart and Soul Nebulas, and the all systems in the Cassiopeia sector into a 3-d model (using AutoCAD). The first picture attached is a view of the x-y plane with z-axis coming out of the screen heading to Sag A*. From this view, the Heart and Soul Nebulas (big red spheres) line up with R-R pipe system(in light blue). The second picture is an isometric view; the grid is the x-y plane. The R-R pipe passes through the systems that make up the Cassiopeia constellation (colored pink).

Indeed. It is was Salome asked for: John the Baptist's head on a platter. Patreus as John the Baptist is interesting.

Also, 'Reap what you sow' quote is from the Hebrew Bible. The choice of that exact quote, rather than the colloquial 'you reap what you sow', might be interesting.

At least on the surface that suggest a narrative that is not sympathetic to Kahina.

Storms again? - 'Hosea 8:7 Sown the wind - A proverbial speech to denote lost labour. Whirlwind - A tempest, which destroyeth all that is in its way; an emblem of the wrath of God'

The next twist is that she will goto the penal colony and then be rescued and vanish again into deep space. Im calling it now, this saga isnt finished yet

Achamán will spring her out of the clink! ;)

I've been reading through the Galnet article about Kahina's show trial looking to see if I can find anything out of place that might provide some kind of clue. While I haven't found anything worth reporting I do have to mention this one thing:

Every time I read THIS: "an announcement was made outside the Prism Hall of Justice"

THIS flashes in my mind:

EDIT: And yes, it makes me read the entire article in the voice of the announcer from the old Super Friends cartoons.

I posted it on the wrong thread before, but Hey someone go rescue Kahina then drag the angry Imperial fleet to Maia so you can use them as a distraction to get Palin out of there.

I'd try it but I'm heading to work... So I nominate Jmanis.

theres already a hint in that news article about the two people she was talking to and a favour granted ... perhaps that was in return for the life sentence or i think we can agree this isnt the end of the story

I got the impression that the conversation with the 2 unknown individuals was just the "evidence" she was convicted on . Was probably out of context too.

Really? I read it as an overheard conversation outside the courtroom.

I suspect that it will act as a measure of how big a favour Salome did them and how powerful they are.

Hypothesis:

She towed the line and kept her mouth shut as her 'favour'. If the people she was conferring to are [insert powerful conspiracy group here], and very powerful, and the favour was that crucial, then they will be able to serve a proverbial head on the plate. In terms of narrative, if Patreus ends up having an accident or disgraced, it demonstrates just how powerful the conspiracy is and how big the secret is: That Patreus's career/life can be ended merely as a 'favour' in exchange for silence/whatever.

I read it as a conversation outside the courtroom first too as a literary reprise, but no I believe it is the 'evidence'. That's the scene from the end of "The Children of Raxxla". Somehow Patreus got a hold of a video of that, someone or somemany in C.o.R. are spies and traitors. Remember her emergency transmission when she was boarded she spoke of betrayal? Also serves as reminder that "The Children of Raxxla" story is canon too and maybe there's something in there we've missed.

I made a longer post earlier, but the spam kicker did not like all the URL's as I'm a newbie to the forums. This one is short. I searched the EDSM and collected all the systems that are less than 5 light years from the Reorte-to Riedquat (R-R) line, I call it the R-R pipe, and plotted the systems in a 3-d model similar to the Galaxy map. In the pipe are a cluster of 10 "Eafots" systems. Eafots TH-C b54-2 is only 2 light years off the R-R line. I also the Cassippieia system (in magenta) and the Heart and Sould nebulas in red. I'll try to attach an isometric view of the model.

Can you list all the 10 Eafots systems?

Exactly. It is from the founding days of the Children of Raxxla over one year ago. The two persons mentioned are two of our founders, pilots who we certainly know had nothing to do with the emperors dawn and were not part in any assasination attempt on Admiral Patreus. Nor were the Children of Raxxla. And it is absolutely certain that CoR did not leak the video - it was made at a time when CoR was still being founded. And in a place we would never have had access to set up surveillance. Somebody else has secretly recorded the meeting. This is definitely a set up - but by whom? Patreus? Or is Patreus himself only a pawn in the game of someone else? We need to find that out. Why did Raan Corsen go to Alioth? Who would profit most from a war between the Empire and the Federation? The Alliance?

My gut is telling me that Patreus is just an unwitting pawn and scapegoat of some shadow power. He just sees an opportunity to rid himself of a "rival" even though Salomé wasn't really his rival.

I believe that even the official governments, aka the President and Emperor, are somewhat blind as to the real reason behind all of this.

Some organization, likely at least infiltrated into the Empire if not the Federation as well, is working behind the scenes to silence Salomé, or at least prevent her from "looking into things that don't concern her."

As for who would benefit from a war between the Empire and Federation, I doubt the Alliance would want that. However, any organization that is desperate to keep the secrets of the rift hidden, a war between the two largest militaries certainly would distract almost everyone, and make any research into the Rift difficult for those not dissuaded.

Soviet era style "traitor" searches and higher protection of "state secret" information would likely benefit them as well.

Finally, there was a galnet article earlier about some imperial senator denouncing the arms limitation treaty on capital ships. That would certainly add embers to the fire of war.

Now we're in a John Grishom novel,,,,qui bono,,,follow the money?

The answer is as clear as the tentacles on his face.

Mbrook, Dbraben, and Dwagar, that's who qui bonos.

As well like all newly found archeology sites, Synuefe xr-h d11-102 B 1 is clearly a Druidic ritual and ceremonial site.
They've been awfully slow laying claim and setting up shop,,,

We need to find out a lot of things we're not going to be able; galnet is like trying to figure out "war and peace" published in ap news wire format where the characters are not even be mentioned.

Re-read your questions of who really set up the meeting, Patreus being a tool [the galaxy seem unanimous on that], being in a position to manoeuvre TOW 2.0, access the Graveyard, fingers in so many pies,,,why it could only be,,,THE DARK WHEEL,,,

Achamán will spring her out of the clink! ;)

Astirian - That is Phi Cassiopeiae, but it's actually below the R-R line in that picture. Here is a view looking at the x-y axis with the z axis coming out of the screen heading to Sag A*. In this view the magenta system by the EAFOTS cluster is 6 Cass and Phi is below the it. I put a version of the 3-d model on-line. It works like the Galaxy map. You can pan, rotate, and zoom around the systems. Clicking a system and clicking the properties tab will tell you the name of the system. The link is:

Astirian - That magenta system is Phi Cassiopeiae; from that view it looks like it's on the R-R line, but it's acutally below it. Here is another view looking at the x-y plane with the y-axis coming out of the screen (heading to Sag A*). From this view it looks like 6 Cassiopeaie is on the line; Phi Cassiopeaie is below it.

Yeah, it was only on second reading that I came to my judgment too. Whilst I had read that short story, I didn't remember that, and didn't actually think it was canon, but it would be nice is was.

I had to re-read it too. The sentence is written as though it was a video recorded in the press room in which Kahina is seen speaking with the two men. It, of course, made me wonder why the conversation from the CoR short story was being shoehorned into the trial. The fact that it was video evidence from the trial that was leaked TO the press room does make more sense.

Yes leaked like Cheney leaking lies on Friday to Judith Miller to report in the NYT so he can quote the NYT as evidence on Sunday.
I called it video should probably call it a holofac. And Ambassador Cuthrick Delaney, ambassador from who to whom for what? Or is it the honorific of calling someone by their past highest held office like Secretary of State Baker instead of calling them by their current job Saudi Arabian bagman Baker.

Cuthrick must have some interesting connections to still maintain connection with Kahina under the eyes of Patreus. It was Paterus btw who railed against the London Treaty. I have a feeling Arissa has him on a long leash assuming he'll eventually hang himself; he's her patsy and fall guy when things go wrong.
