Is Jacques a good place to sell exploration data?

You make it look bad. FYI we ask, we don't tell.

I say it as I see it....bubble 2 should be different for all the politics that's in bubble 1.

Again read thread #3 sounds to me like you want to take control of the region no matter how hard you try to disguise it

I've reset my game save on several occasions. Each and every time I have made it a point to become allied with Jaques ... this goes back to before he left on his aborted trip to Beagle Point. As a true friend of Jaques I think it is important to respect his own wishes insofar as we can.

Next to my computer I have a boxed copy of Frontier: Elite II. If you pop open that box you can fish out my copy of "Stories of Life on the Frontier" which contains David Massey's original short story All That Glisters that tells the story of Jaques, the cybernetic bar keeper.

I don't think Jaques is the kind of cyborg that has any interest in controlling a star system, let alone expanding his influence out into the surrounding systems. Jaques is a bartender not a political power. By reducing Jaques' influence in Colonia we're allowing that character to be who he was written to be. I do have mixed feelings but I think that, ultimately, helping Colonia Council is in the best interest of Jaques.

Jaques is as much part of CCN as everyone else who wants to be. BUT the ingame mechanics drive the Colonia Hub station into lockdowns and so on when the influence dies down to much. that is basically the reason why we asked for this as the C-Hub has no Cartographics yet. End of story. Please dont jump on any drama train. Seriously. I never encountered a more friendly, inviting, creative bunch of people like in CCN or around Jaques for that matter. I love it here, and I feel sad when players deny themselfs the opportunity to be part of it, just because someone spreads something like that around.

Then I suggest that you re-read post #3 of this thread

I wrote that post. All I said was that Colonia Council has requested we don't sell our data at Jaques. That is a statement of fact not a censure on people. Folks are welcome to support whom they please. I didn't tell anybody NOT to sell to Jaques I just wanted to pass along the fact that players have an alternative.

OP: all the populated systems in Colonia are safe, although the Jaques system has the lowest Security rating I think. So you can sell at any of them, although neither Colonia Dream nor Colonia Hub have Universal Cartographics.

The Colonia Citizens Network (who I'm with) would like more data to be sold at other stations rather than Jaques, because the Jaques faction has 98% Influence in that system which keeps the Colonia Council faction in constant undesirable states. Our SEPP members think that if we can get them to Boom for two weeks, we might be able to upgrade Colonia Hub's facilities.

I ought to just respond to DynamicBob's criticisms of the CCN above, as he keeps making them on threads all over the place and they should probably be addressed.

CCN is a Discord server that seeks to create a Colonial identity and provide the infrastructure for groups and independent pilots to collaborate and colonise the Nebula peacefully. It is made up of many player groups as well as many independent pilots.

It's not a player group itself, it's a completely open community. We seek to build ties between as many player groups as possible so that, as Colonia is colonised, relations between them are peaceful and collaborative rather than mistrustful.

So, CCN really is not standing in the way of "keeping Colonia open for everyone".

Sorry CMDR but the more you write the more political it all seems.

I play this game to get away from all the daily life ritual of politics/politics/politics. Why do I want to see all that stuff in a game.

But that's drawing away from the OP's thread.....Yes it's safe to sell data to where ever you want to in the Colonia region

Depends what you're after, I think.

If you're solely after getting your data sold as safely as possible, sell it all at Jaques (or ask around for an escort) - the Colonia system currently has no NPC pirates in supercruise, while the other nearby systems have them occasionally (though the risk is very low if you don't carry cargo).

If you're flying a large ship, Jaques is the only large pad station in the nebula with Cartographics at the moment (though you can buy a basic Viper or similar there to use as a shuttle)

If you want to help out politically, the mining CG is pushing Jaques influence through the roof anyway, so sell at the others to help reinforce non-Anarchy governments over Anarchy minor factions.

If you want to stick around for a bit afterwards - or plan to come back later - sell 5 million to everywhere you can and get a bunch of Allied statuses with minor factions.

If Jaques is a significant detour and you're not interested in the area as such, just head back to the bubble anyway - NPCs are still not that dangerous so long as you take the normal precautions and don't carry any cargo; ask for an escort if you want to be sure.

I'm a bit confused now. Who represents the Colonia Council in-game minor faction? Is it the organisers of the Colonia Citizens Network, or is it a separate player group?

The Colonia Council is a nod from Frontier at the CCN. We never requested it and never said it was our own faction. We'll use it to ensure that the inhabited systems stay in peace and to favor availability of Starport services. That's all.

It's the Colonia Citizens Network, although CCN also support the other factions in Colonia that are Broker government type (which is all the non-criminal ones).

The Colonia area is generally a place that is quite safe for travellers.

And exploration data? Well, I spoke to Kancro Vantas some days ago concerning exactly this. He said I'd be welcome to sell my stuff at Jaques and that CCN was doing CG mining that would offset any faction loss anyway. However, he also said that if I chose not to sell at Jaques but rather some place else, it would aid the efforts of the players doing their things there.

So I sold at Polo Harbour. Call it politics if you will (which I find hillarious). I call it being considerate of others, a thing the world generally has a shortage of.

To be honest, I'm quite amazed by the avalanche of replies. The topic seemed pretty innocent but apparently politics roam even that far. I'm still a good deal beyond beagle point in the middle of nowhere at this time so getting over there to sell my data would shorten the dangerous part of the trip somewhat.
Now that you mentioned surrounding systems I checked the government type filter show up some populated systems close nearby. Up to now I thought there's just one lonely small station floating in the endless purpleness that is the nebulae. Seems I've -really- been out of touch for a while. If it's a considerate thing to sell the data across multiple stations there, I'd gladly do so.

Yes! The colony is growing fast! Because of so many many awesome folks putting even more time and effort into it. And I can say I am proud to be part of it and anyone who is/wants to be. And FD seems to approve heavily of it, which makes it even more awesome. Shaping the game for the better, litterally. That's all we want.

It's not what anyone thinks who's in CCN, if they are a political faction or not.

The fact is that I THINK that CCN is a political faction......& if I think that then others will also think that as well. Therefore I will always look at what CCN are doing with skepticism, whether they like it or not, purely because I would like to see the region void of political factions - just my opinion.

Your opinion is fine. But you have to understand that we, the CCN members, feel very strongly about it and want to clear up our intentions for others. Like we said, we never asked for this. Its FD's doing alone and we are infinitly thankful for our efforts to pay off like that. Critisism is completly fine and I understand how it could be confusing. So... <3

I can't agree more. I done every CG in the region, making numerous trips back to the bubble for resources, endless days of exploring & mining to try & get the station up & running & spreading out into the region.
It's good to see that FD hasn't let the area just fade away.

I think we can only agree to disagree.......& move on!

Colonia Council isn't a player faction. It is, however, a rallying point for those of us wanting cooperative gameplay. I don't represent CCN. I represent the Earth Expeditionary Fleet and we want a presence in Colonia. To me. Colonia Council is a kind of "United Nations".

The kind of cooperative gameplay that I'm looking for is outlined pretty well in my EEF video:
