Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

Any significance to the fact that the site was found in a binary planet pair (or planet with satellite?) one much larger than the other; and the site has two prominent circles, one much larger than the other? Could the site layout be reflective of the system layout?

The scale seems pretty close too.

Just something for you guys to rule out, if you haven't already (search of the thread didn't show anything).

Hauled an Ancient Relic, Casket, Orb, Urn and and Totem over to Khun and Elvira Martuuk, on the basis of:

'She is fascinated by all things alien, and has become expert at spotting human fakes.'

...in her description, and you have to give here Soontil Relics to get access to her. Thought she really ought to have an opinion on the things, and maybe at least hand out a red herring [big grin]

But nothing in her engineer interface looks to have changed, there is no market to sell them, and discarding a relic at the base didn't do anything, so apparently not.

I've come to the same conclusion as I've seen mentioned in a few other places, and that is that the fact that some triangles never activate is significant.

The distribution of how often triangles are lit shows that they are all lit between 62 and 73 times (over the 96 unique states) apart from the 35 triangles which are never lit.

which is a scientific glitch in EDs concept, assuming Thargoids similarity to insects is to be taken literally.
Insects are using PASSIVE breathing (CO2/O2 exchange by partial pressure difference through their trachae) and convection speed is depending on temperature, this why during earths Mesozoicum the biggest insects were living and also today largest insects are found in tropical lattitudes...
If insects would have an active breathing apparatus (like lungs), highly presumably they would be the dominat species on our planet, as there wouldn´t be a limitation in size....
(Formicula -who knows that ancient C-Movie?)

When you have ammonia as solvent in your cells, you don't like it to hot. It boils at -33degC at normal pressure.

We don't know if the use passive or active CO2/O2 exchange or if they have constant or variable body temperature.

Follow the breadcrumbs.... search adjacent systems and pattern analysis of the things found in itself, for other ruins and stuff, it will eventually lead to the bigger stuff.

My point entirely. The base will yield clues but I doubt fiddling about with the relics...totems or towers will activate anything. This is another step in an exciting journey of discovery.

That's what I was thinking. The walls around could also mean "orbit"... I tried to read it as a map but suffered brain overheat.

Was in solo, as ive been killed twice surveying the ancient ruins and did not want to give any more of my moneys to the insurance companies, searching the moon above Synuefe xr-h d11-102, Planet 1 B. I was loaded with the relics from the ancient ruins. just as landed and deployed my SRV I was attacked by some NPC pirates. just a heads up its not 100% safe in solo either

After rizal's comment about the large circle seeming like a landing pad, it made me wonder if the point is to land in the large circle (representing the large planet you're on), wait for the moon to be over the smaller circle, then perhaps the line which extends outwards from the large circle points towards.. something.

Even if it were true (and kudos to Frontier if they put anything like that in-game), it'd be an incredibly imprecise directional indicator.

Yeah, I've been trying to figure out if the patterns around the landing pads mean something too, but I've not been able to yet. I'm sure they aren't just there for the sake of it though...

Honestly Riz, you seem to have far too many holidays in far too beautiful places :D

To be fair the maintenance of this thread alone is justification enough :p

Ahahah!
You're right!
But, honestly, it's impossible to live in Italy and to not have holidays... you throw a stone in the air, and it always falls in some beautiful place...

Interesting stuff. I haven't gotten around to scripting anything to use the data yet, but really appreciate you've made it machine-readable so quickly. I thought I'd share a couple avenues I was thinking about in case I don't get around to it so anyone can take and run with them.
  • Assuming it's a developer puzzle, and not something that actually looks like alien language, we should compare the frequency of states and/or activations to letter frequency in English. Might even check if it looks different in other language versions.
  • I noted that you found 96 states... this happens to be the number of common ASCII characters (32-127), though to use them all would assume that it runs through them all then states its message. Especially since this set includes one non-printable character, delete.
  • When I first saw the obelisks, it made me think of a game of life... hopefully we are dealing with something that encodes information, and not an alien screensaver! [redface]

Amazing!
I'll add it to the FP later this evening...
Right now I'm still on Naboo (... not joking: the Lago Maggiore, close to Milano, was the place for all the scenes in Naboo, where Anakin and Padme, fall in love) ;)

From my window:

You better not fall in love with a princess and join the Thargoid side, otherwise there won't be anybody to keep the forum's padawans under control! ;)
