Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

can u explain how yo get coordinates?

Using the nonogram from this post https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...9-The-Canonn?p=4719488&viewfull=1#post4719488

In a kind of "brain crap" moment, i used the whole two blocks of the first ones. The last one is too big to convert into a number. So i used the first "01011" and just added the five block below. So "0101100000010110000001011", which converts to "11545611". Since the first five numbers are used as "main coordinates" i would have put the comma at "11545,611". Same for the second one "1110100000111010000011101", which gives "30438429". Although i just noticed, that you would need to set the comma at "3043,8429" for it to be in the Formadine Rift...so that idea probably just imploded...unless it isn't uncommon to have four digits behind the comma (highest i've seen at EDSM is three after the comma)

Edit:
I seem to remember someone saying about the formadine rift and the the rifters might want a sol permit soon so this could be the right ballpark.

I have too, that's why i "tried" to shift the commas a bit, that they align with the formadine rift

Just to add some thought on the ruin's themselves, they aren't yet confirm to be non-human, so what if it is old human tech. The triangles on the live "obelisks" look a lot like the mini loading screen using Galnet or when mission screen avatars are loading, could they be old style data banks and screen's, as now most displays in game a holographic. Just a thought and keep up the excellent work, it's all way above my head :D .

I have to say, all of the different nonograms and sciencing going on here has started to make it difficult to figure out which leads to track down. I was actively following along until 2 days ago. I came back today, and i don't know where to begin!! Should i just go back to page 200 and read everything from then on, or does someone have a synopsis of small objectives that need looking into? If no one has a task for me, i will be heading to the new dwarfs around Sol and poking around.

I just had another idea about the last block..."1001010101" gives you 597...597*5 (for the 5 rows) gives you 2985. Which would fit for coordinates...

I also thought about adding the lines themself ( (01011 = 11) + (11101 = 22) + (1001010101 = 597) ), but that does make even less sense.
Because then we would have 5 times 630...

Quick question...

The system map that is shown with the first incorrect NONOGRAM on front page is based on the error code correct? is there an updated one that is based on the corrected code?

I have a theory and the system is the same where the fungi have been discovered. Very VERY Similar layout but I want to make sure the map I'm referencing is accurate. Thanks!

@Eagle5, as rizal72 kindly pointed out, the spoiler'd data on the front page is correct. The system diagram is essentially unchanged with the new data.

After examining the evidence, I think the site is an ancient shopping centre, and the patterns displayed on some of the obelisks will translate into "Golf equipment sale now on, ends Bank Holiday Monday"

Sorry - just my silly sense of humour.

All hail to CMDR XDeath for finding it, and to the rest of the Cannon for keeping this stuff going.

All I can say that coordinates with 4 fraction digits seem not to be uncommon (I would have expected 3 digits too, that is), they go up to five at least:

I finally made my way over there last night, on Halloween, when the site was in the dark, with my headphones on and the noises of THINGS stirring from their aeons long sleep in my ears.

Anyway, if anyone wants to help me hose down the upholstery of my Scarab's cockpit....

Uhh...so...is it possible to search EDSM for coordinates? Because now there are 4*4*4 possibilities. I'd say from my gut, "-11546,11/2xxx/3043,8429" may be worth a thorough search :D

Seems like, EDSM has no "depth"...

captain obvius here: the COLONIA system doesnt fit... Isn't it? (I dont have data for it)

Interesting... thanks

no one reads meee lol

any map picture of colonia?

also, the last part
"3 12 21 5 4 Charlie"
maybe also traslate as
"CLUED CHARLIE"... Another key over this or another message?

A few folks have been attracted to the thread with the recent publicity and have said that they have no idea where to start with getting involved in Science. I can understand their position as it took me a while to start seeing what might be worthy topics of study. It also helps that I have access to the Canonn Discord, but not everyone does. What do people think about having a post on the front page which explicitly calls out a few priority items that we can direct people to. It wouldn't necessarily have to cover everything, maybe just the highest priority items. But as an example maybe something like the following:

"Alien" Ruins in Synuefe xr-h d11-102, Planet 1 B:
  • Help decipher the Obelisk Patterns.
  • Help photograph objects on site so that we can pull together a catalogue of all the carvings/markings to be found.
  • Other experiments on site (would need one or two details).
  • Help check the Planet, its moon and the surrounding system for any USS or POI of interest including Barnacles, Fungal Life, Other Ruins, UA or UP

Searching for other "Alien" Ruins:
  • Current priority target systems to search are TBC.

Fungal Life:
Fungal Life has been discovered on Colonia 3 C A. We are interested in finding any other examples and we sugget you pay particular attention to places which meet the same conditions as are found at the known sites.

Unregistered Comms Beacons:
  • Help us finish with the current message and when we identify a possible target help us to search there for whatever we are being led to.
  • Currently we know about Unregistered Comms Beacons in the following systems (TBC). Let us know if you find any others in your travels.

And so on including maybe:
  • Directions to the Formidine Rift Thread.
  • Pleiades Mapping Project.
  • Cataloguing Ammonia Worlds.
  • Ongoing hunts for new Barnacles, UAs and UPs and checks to see if their behaviour has changed after a patch.
  • Checking Permit Locked Sectors to see if and when they unlock after patches.

Oh and as I have suggested it I would be happy to help compile and maintain such a list, rather then just expecting other folks to do it :).

So, I have shot off pillars on the towers and am trying to bounce the beams from the relics round the site and have probably got the angles wrong.

Has anyone else tried this with any success?

The whole thing reminds me of a classic Tomb Raider puzzle...bounce the beams about and get the big reveal. I'm guessing the big reveal will be something huge pops up at the place everyone thinks is a landing pad.

Thoughts? Advice? :)

I did wonder why the pillars were separate shootable items - you might be on to something.

well... okay... I have to go back now.

Good thinking there Indiana Jones:)

I represent that dots as binary code and divided them as two block (because blank space between them). Then translated it to decimal and got this:
2633:513:340
And the second:
4:80:597
It may be wrong but however might to check in EDSM or right in place
