Bass shaker / butt kicker solution?

I've been away from the game for a while but contemplating a comeback. I remember fondly having set up my bass shakers to my seat when I was using the DK2. It was easy to split the analogue sound source to the bass am and my headphones. But now that the CV1 uses HDMI audio or whatever, I haven't found a way that isn't super laggy to do the same and send the sound to my bass shakers so I can feel the ship.

Anything new and improved been found? Thanks guys.

There are a number of butt-kicker users in here - I'm sure they will chime in shortly... 777Driver and a few others whose names escape me presently... :)

I'm starting to look for info on it too. Like if you're getting good bass into your seat, is it still 'loud' in the next room (kids sleeping etc, wife effect lol).

Not at home at the moment, there are lots of ways to reroute the channel to your transducer. A lot of people use this - http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Voicemeeter/banana.htm

Run a google search and pick the software that works best for you.

OK, I'll give bannana a try again. I recall using that a while back and finding that there was a big latency between what I would hear in my CV1 headphones and what was felt in the seat. Worth a shot!

I use standard headphones, the Rift ones used with third party software cause way to many issues for me. I also use an app which requires the sub channel volume to be changeable from within the Windows sound mixer, all of the third party apps manage their own channels in the software with no way to control sub volume only from what I can tell... basically - use your own headphones is my advice..

I thought about that for a while too. Problem is, I really like the quality and ease of use with the CV1 speakers. They work great in everything else I play so don't want the hassle of removing them to play ED. Would be perfect if there was an ability to simultaneously output sound to a separate device via in game setting or if the game somehow output a type of telemetry that could be interpreted as vibes from a 3rd party software like Simvibe. I know I am dreaming now :D

I use Voicemeeter I have an OSVR HDK 2.0 so can't confirm for rift but I have my headphones plugged into the HDK USB port and my bass rumble plugged into headphones and it works great. Voicemeeter seems to be pretty good with minimal delay.

How is the HDK2 for ED?

I have been dreaming of SimVibe support for years - the SimVibe team are willing but FDEV are not releasing an API for telemetry any time soon (if ever) :(

So I downloaded and installed Banana today. I can get it to work where if I do something like play music or a video, it will output to both Rift audio and the shaker amp. To do this, I have Voicemeeter VAIO as the default sound in windows. Then in banana, I have Rift audio as A1 and shaker amp as A2. Works great no complaints.

The problem is when I try to go into oculus home. I get no sounds from Oculus home and when ED starts, no sound from that either. I end up having to stop voicemeeter, restart oculus home for any game sounds to come back. Wierd. Anyone have a fix? Seems like I am almost there.

Silly question but have you changed the sound setting in Home from "Rift Headphones" to "Windows Default"?

Not sure about Oculus, but with SteamVR I can redirect the sound output to a different peripheral other than the headset.

I have then set up Equalizer APO to redirect ALL 5.1 channels to the Center/Subwoofer one, as from my experience Elite does NOT handles well Subwoofer output; a Low-Pass Filter on my dedicated amplifier takes care of the rest.

You can see my setup in my signature - it works really well.

A lot of work!!

but now steamvr have included asynchronous timewarp in the new beta it runs really well.

There are some positional tracking challenges (I get quite a bit of coasting unless I bump the OSVR server priority but there is a fix for the tracking camera due soon.

All in all I would say I'm really glad I got the HDK

I have both the oculus rift, headphones (for when listening to youtube or whatever) and a buttkicker.

I set the rift audio to the default device.
Go to sound / recording. Right click an empty spot and selected "Show disabled devices". Right click "Stereo Mix" and select enable. Right click it and select "Set as default device".
Do a properties on it. Go to the listen tab.
Set it to listen to the Occulus Rift.

I then plugged the headphones in the back of the computer. It asks what I plugged in. Select headphones.
Then I plugged the buttkicker in the audio jack in the front of the computer. What did I plug in? Large speakers (with base).

Done!

People say this makes the headphones laggy, but I do not notice any lag. And I get the sound to both the rift, headphones and buttkicker at the same time.

I use 2 AuraSound AST-2B-4 Pro Bass Shaker Tactile Transducers attached to a comfy office chair driven by a Sony STR DH130 amp Y-split off SoundBlaster X-FI. I don't use Rift or other headphones as I prefer my 5.1 surround speakers for that full room sound.
This, for me, was less expensive than a Buttkicher setup (including the chair) and more flexible in placement of the 2 transducers (1 under the seat and 1 on the back).I could have driven 2 more transducers with this amp, but I found 2 more than powerful enough.

Interesting. Do you have pictures?

Have to say I'd be really interested in adding a tactile transducer.
Any other options out there? No one seems to have a Buttkicker 2 in stock.
