Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

This will be all the more easy once we can get out of our ships. The only other way would be to put manipulator arms on all the ships and SRVs. That way you could more than scan, shoot, or listen.

I think the lack of tools and the lack of puzzle options are what is doing it.

Right now all the puzzles have been forced outside of the game.

The first thing that is needed is a complete suite of sciences and exploration modules.
Second thing that is needed is the ability to create save and send notes/emails inside of the game.
Third needs to be access to the forums inside of the game. Tools can be created for the forum that can do all kinds of things to make the game more immersive. They can just create an in game skin that makes it look like another UI. Heck throw it into Galnet.

That would be a quicker fix than the space legs will take. They just need to create puzzles that are both compelling and rely solely on the tools inside the game.

Would love to see science/exploration modules! Notes would be swell too.

Your wish is my command. The ship was parked about 1.5km out, ran in solo mode, wave scanner on the SRV turned off, right up next to the live UA making racket. Recorded 4 minutes. Uploaded both raw and one amplified with 18dB gain.

Great work! Did the UA scan the srv as you approached?

For the love everyone, more science!

Complaining (that isn't at least constructive) should not be in this thread.

We also don't need to have more conversations about Griefers.

And finally xdeath is awesome for finding the ruins. It was legit hardwork that did it and anyone blaming him or angry with him can shove off.

Back to the science!!!
Speaking of science though, have we gotten some bug reports about the ruins answered yet? Have we replicated the UP honk without scan at the new crash site? On discord I've heard it wasn't replictable but I was wondering if the initial poster had tried again.

Fantastic! And excellent to see that I am not the only one still searching for shaft 48. Please add me in-game if you - or anyone else who is interested (Mengy?) - want to team up for the search.

I too have been searching for most of today. That huge mountain seems to have more than one POI on it, but finding them hasn't been easy!

It took me a lot longer than a minute to find the ruins, or the system, for that matter.

Exactly. And I don't want the end game now; I'd be happy to follow a mystery that had clever clues and difficult puzzles telling us where the next clue was. Right now, we have a progress bar. No thinking involved, just "deliver thing X to station Y, Z number of times."

Anyway, whatever. We have a CG and that's not going to change, unfortunately. I need more money after getting a space bus, so to the CG I go.

tons of rep for you CMDR. You are a gentlemen, sir!

I'll be on them shortly.

Don't forget about the nonogram, many hands and all that.

While i definitely understand this, especially with coming from how bright a lot of you CMDRs are when it comes to unraveling this stuff, I think a lot of people are tired of the slow burn.

Giving the SRV a grab arm to pick up and drop objects would transform the options available.

A quick note: I thought I'd cut out a portion of audio (several seconds) of my SRV running out of fuel and having to refuel. I didn't get the first part of it. You'll hear it (rather loudly) at the very tail end of the files. Oops!

Thanks for the rep, btw.

I can not believe that Anyone would ever "blame" you Xdeath for your find. You did an excellent job and if Some People want to be bitter and put blame on someone it should be directed at FD for not realizing that someone would be able to figure out the location with the image they put out there.

X it is only natural for someone to feel attacked when others start pointing fingers at them and i don't want to see you take any of their comments to heart or upset you in any way....

You did a fantastic job and should only be applauded

Unfortunately, the recording is useless :(
There is a terrible high sound covering everything, I've never heard before. perhaps an artifact of the conversion/recording, don't know.
Can you check it?

The noise I'm talking about, starts after a bit and never ends, covering the morse...

Am about to make my way out towards Barnard's Loop/Horsehead Dark Nebula and while cruising through the Galaxy Map I stumbled across a few stars that were non-enterable stating "unknown permit required":

COL 70 SECTOR VQ-A C15-2
COL 70 SECTOR VQ-A C15-0
COL 70 SECTOR LB-D B29-0

Just to name a few. Check that out!

A high-noise how so? Let me fire up the raw one and look.

I think by "minute's work" he meant that FDev took effort and time to prepare the things "we missed out on because ruins were found a different way".
FDev however also officially stated that all of the aformentioned were adjusted and adapted back in somewhere else-- so no harm done, we're not gonna miss out on the riddles, FDev work will get put to play.
So why is this still a subject, move along everyone!

Thanks for the screenshots, BDC, I could use them ... to disclose the Alien Ruins secret: The notorious gasoline rodents are behind it.

(Sorry Bungalo for being near-offtopic there).
More on topic, free thought ... maybe we need to let the site draw a certain amount of our fuel to get running again. If the number of Obelisks that can be activated is going up over time, it could be a hint ... IF the site is indeed draining fuel.

Sorry but i am new to ED and don't understand about the CG's

I read.... https://community.elitedangerous.com/communitygoals

So what you guys are saying is that this is how FD uses community goals to handle things like the Alien Ruins and such instead of letting the players figure it out...and the kicker is that this was how the whole thing Was supposed to go down....that there would have been clues leading to the ruins which then would continue on with a big community goal

It begins at 25 seconds, exactly before the first UA scream, after which the morse starts.
