AhAh!
I love you all guys... it seems we have disagreements here :D

My thoughts on the matter:

We do not know what this CG will bring to the story but, according on how much care FD put on the riddle to find it, it seems to me that it must be important.
So, positive or not, it needs to be done.

To let the story unfold.

I'm sure we'll have plenty of things to do in the future to counter it if it is bad.

Right now, what I think is: "the show must go on".

This is though I feel the one biggest thing that people seem to forget about CGs. The story will go on!

There's always 2 base outcomes, succeed or fail. FD know where the story will go for each outcome. So you say let the story unfold, well it will do either way. If the money grabbing community want that to be to an unknown end, even if it's just terrorists taking down a super power, then so be it.

Always remember Emperor's Dawn though. One of the first CGs, FD knew how they wanted the story to turnout and unfold but the community backed the terrorists and so as well as having to bin months of preparation and follow up work, they had to write the story in a new direction.

Sheesh, I'm gone for one day and the thread jumps over 30 pages! I just read about the probe in the Canonn home system that mysteriously helped us decode the remaining nonogram to point at that Sun Tu system. What else has happened and what's new?

As if completing the CG would break the game lol. You guys are taking this stuff too seriously. For starters it's a game, not real life. Second, FD is always in control of the outcomes, so they won't make things go to unconvenient places. Third, there are limitations to what can acually happen, like none of the important factions will disappear, etc. Conclusion: either outcome (completing the CG or not) will be fine. The storyline will not really change from what has probably already been planned. So stop taking this so seriously, like if it was real life. I get that many people enjoy the roleplay, but it's not worth it to start blowing this out of proportion and getting mad at people, there's no reason to. Like I said, it's a game and the outcomes are limited and controlled by the developers. In the end what really matters is what alternative is more fun and interesting, if anything. lol

+1 (and more as soon as I am allowed)

xdeath my good man if you want to "hunt" aliens, then feel free, but I certainly wouldn't condone that kind of behaviour. And my "What?" was simply in reply to you saying we don't have anything else to discuss at the moment. (not sure what quoting 1 rifter's opinion is supposed to support)

Anyhow, when all's said and done, this isn't the first time we've disagreed about what course of action to take, it certainly won't be the last, and that's one of the great things about Canonn.
The definition of hunt that I am referring to is "to seek out", not find and kill. Though that may end up happening

OOC: I'm just going to be clear with you, that I was careful to avoid using any "out of game" references. Discord, forums and even reddit have been referred to in game(albeit by different names). I did this because this was a bit of a roleplay, and I hope you were too. I'm all for doing the CG to see where the story goes.

In Character: I've said this once before, and I'll say it again. There is nothing for the Canonn to gain by supplying terrorists with a potential BioWeapon. If you want to do it yourself, that is fine. But there is no good reason to associate the Canonns name with such acts.

See, look. Now we have got agenda pushing here.

OOC: No I got it.

IC: I'm not recommending providing them with it at all, I'm trying to stop people from doing it. The trouble is people don't care about the outcome, they just see the Cr. Supporting terrorism "just to see where the story goes" is, in my opinion, a terrible idea.

Oh and just ignore Cookie, it's for the best :D But it is a good example of how people assume it's about taking down the government, just because it's November 5th and that's what the CG was based around last year (not that it actually ended up happening that way).

Finally I've arrived at the latest alien crash site! Looks very spooky... To me it looks like the ships didn't end up there all at the same time. At least 1 ship is almost gone, others seem to very in deterioration. What could've happened? Was the alien ship first, where the Unknown Probes first and did the other ships honk their ADS near the UP's and crash? Or was there a huge fight?

There was a lot of scoopable cargo on the crash site, to me mostly food related: I've found beer, gold, algae, liquor, fish, fruit and vegetables, animal meat, food cartridges and of course UP's. Maybe the UP's are the viruses for the Aliens, and the Alien ship tried to prevent the other ships to spread out more UP's all over the galaxy.

A few images behind the spoiler block:

maybe someones trying to give humans a virus and is spreading it in foodstuffs

Guys, maybe it's a stupid question but....
What if it moves?? Yeah I know we still have no idea what the ruins are and what they do (if they do anything) but for me it is some kind of a machine. On one picture here (spoiler no. 2) we can see (yeah I know, it a bit cheating with debug camera going under the terrain, but we can clearly see that what is above ground is just a tip of an ice berg) that it is a massive structure.

What if it is a machine and it moves like so:

It can't (maybe can't) move to the left as there is some higher ground in the circle, but it could move to the right. Also the smaller circle in the bottom left corner, looks similar to the big circle, I did overlay the, they don't quite match but they share a lot of similarities. With the beacons growing up from the ground FDEV's showed us that it is possible to have a "growing", "moving", "doing something", unlike static - alien ship wrecks - structures.

Actually that is just garbage that the devs don't want us to see. Clip through geometry in any game and you'll see stuff like that. So that is not reliable evidence to go on.

Year ago they wanted explosives. Now virus. I would not be surprised if next year they demand plutonium or uranium.

CG that can only be seen, if you have the right Information (Wright City in ELLI), that came from the Guy Fawkes transmission ( https://community.elitedangerous.com/galnet/uid/581b5f259657ba866ca44a9f ) at Novas. Some Organization want's Toxjandi Virocide. For what? Nobody knows. But since you've reped my crazy theory, you know my share of the cake ;)

"There was another path planned, but that's now been adapted for something else.

Michael"

I know its a bit late (still catching up wit the thread, currently @ page 127 of, at current writing, 364 pages) I regularly check the FP for the latest developments. seeing the comment made by our Savior and Overlord MB made me think that the current Beacon Mystery that led to the discovery of another crashed alien ship and the different other beacons that spew out encrypted messages was (part of) the original 'path' of leading us to the Ruins.

I wonder what they will have in store for us next.... I also wonder where that ship graveyard (spoken of in the black wheel books(?)) is at. I believe someone mentioned them somewhere in this thread that it is in game now? would be something to visit it I believe.

now back to reading this thread.....

but a virus for politicians???...can shifty immoral character traits be programmed against with a virus???....... is greed a genetically specific sequence in our cells?

I think not. if this is targeting human "powers" then it is carpet bombing the lot of us to get the result
