Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

I've been looking at those triangular markings on the Obelisks - and the prevalence of triangles in the site.

Could there be a code tucked away - as in a Sierpinski or Pascal triangle code?

That might give us a clue to some co-ordinates?

I think you may be on to something there. will read more.

Before recording hours and hours of these things check if there are any overlapping segments across any of the recordings so far, I suspect you'll find none though

It is worrying that the patterns doesn't repeat at all.

The 'barcode' patterns look promising as a format, but we don't have a message.

I think the obelisk is in idle state and is producing random characters.

All the mysterious sound object we have encountered in ED so far, have an idle and an active state.

The UA activates preiodically(lights up and send Morse code).
The UP activates by honking and by flying in front of it.
The number station beacons activates once per hour.

Given the length of non the repeating signal, I suspect that the Obelisk has something similar. Perhaps connected to the position of the local moon (as clock)?

I mean that Nature abhors a vacuum (с) and few "dead triangles" in patterns is very illogical.
Yes it can be several (96!) words with "dead triangles" but ... need time to think...

I know, it bugs me to no ends.

The different states differ only by a few "bits", so it's unlikely that they are "letters".

  • The "blocks" of the pattern (i.e. the "exagons") do not repeat during the sequence as far as I can tell.
  • The top, middle and bottom exagons do not seem to share common states (i.e. the top exagons never takes the a similar configuration to ones in the middle)
  • There are dead zones in each exagons, and all state changes flip at most 5bis (i.e. few)

I wonder if the five markers at the bottom of the pillars with the relic are not "headers" with the actual content being the inside of the 10 blank triangles
in those markings. Look at the sequence => check for the header => extract the info in the sub-triangle. It "works" at least for one of the pillar's markers.

Maybe it triggers just after scanning an active one ?

And maybe the sound message you get is then gamma+gamme or delta+epsilon and so on ?

Just throwing ideas in the Wind.

If the recordings indeed hold information, I find it strange that FD expects us to record hours and hours of sounds. It doesn't seem natural to me since it's not very user-friendly in terms of gameplay. But that doesn't mean that I'm against this method. It's still interesting.

I'm floating around 8c in the Col system, pretending to be an explorer. Is anybody else out here at the moment?

Yeah i'm in system too on xbox - going for a much slower approach of driving my SRV around 3A. It's too dark on the dark side to see anything with my ship. good luck!

The UP message was originally to long to record with a jettisoned UP. FD sped it up, for it to be more accessible.

I doubt they would put in something much longer than 10 min.

IMHO we need multiple shorter recording (10m? each) followed by information as to what sort of data is given by the scan.
There may be similarities for a data type.

I can't find the second shipwreck. There's no -98 coordinate on planet HIP 17862 6 C A. After reaching -90 it starts to go backwards.

First thought was that this markers at the bottom of the pillars is an encrypted formula for a regular triangle or something similar.

Has it been tried to see if the big blocks (or any other blocks that may be acting as start/end markers) in the spectrogram fit togeter in some way when overlaying the spectrograms of different obelisks over each other? Maybe it's like those spy movie schematics where you have to have all layers overimposed and correctly aligned.
