VR animation when jumping to stars rocks - except the swirl - major hurl

Dump the 'Twirling'. I like the new animation. It looks better via my CV1, before the stars start spinning. I can spend hours in the rift, but that makes me dizzy.

Yes the swirling definitely gives me some motion sickness but Im getting used to it. Actually Im finding the fact that we now have a star that we are speeding towards act like a point of reference and for me this feels wrong when I look at it in comparison to the speed of all the other mass of stars flying from it past my ship. The scale of movement feels wrong and also causes me some issues which again Im slowly getting used to.

My vr legs are normally sturdy like oak and I hardly ever feel anything so Im surprised to be affected at all.

Same here, the tunnel effect is pretty cool up until 2-3 seconds in when everything starts twirling.
I must admit I'm pretty susceptible to motion sickness though, don't last a minute in an SRV.

Doubt they'd be able implement this as optional, and removing it altogether would be unfair towards the non-vr crowd I suppose.

Yeah, I think we just have to suck it up and get used to it. I'm normally like iron VR guts too, but this does actually just get me too near the end. No nausea, just an odd 'disconnection' I can feel.

We will get over it and be stronger than before.

Gloom6 - report to planetary driving training immediately! 6 laps of the closest planet, rapid! :D

I wonder if this has something to do with dropping FPS/personal systems when coming out of witchspace.

I don't get any nausea, but for a second or two, right after I come out, there's a slight lag. . .just a little jutter. . . as the "wobble" effects clear away. It's not bad enough for me to turn down my settings, and it doesn't happen anywhere else.

Just something to take a look at.

It does give your Commander a bit of depth, doesn't it?

"Commander Inga Stevenson had been jumping through Witchspace for over 20 years, and she still got sick after multiple jumps. She could, of course, close her eyes when passing through the swirling chaos that is Witchspace, but she preferred to emerge into Real Space at full throttle in an effort to dodge any pirates who may be lurking at the jump point."

I think the jump sequence looks great, swirl and all, and a single jump doesn't have much effect. But several jumps in a row? I'm telling my tummy to behave.

Haha, agree - maybe the devout explorers in VR will need to add "Bucket" to Jump and Honk.

Do you see the star approching when jumping ?
I thought they added that in 2.2 but I didn't see anything. Does it work only without VR ?

I don't have issues, some times I roll my head left and right to increase the effect. If you have motion sickness maybe you have graphical issues, try to lower them a bit.
I like that now you see the star in the middle, that's a great touch, so when you see a blue star with two tails, start praying not to finish in those tails!! HAHHAAA

I've not had a problem with it, if I focus on the swirl than I get a twinge, but I'm usually just eye balling the incoming star.

As far as personal tolerances go, Elite is pretty comfy, as long as I keep "Eyes on Horizon" on when it comes to the SRV. It's gets pretty gross quick for me without it.

I've always gotten sick on rides that do a lot of rotating, so in my case I'm pretty sure it's me. I don't get sea sick, I've been able to read on the car or bus as a passenger, and driving the SRV in VR doesn't bother me either. But rapid rolling in VR (or the swirling in the hyperspace animation) does a number on me.

I had plotted a route to Farseer station recently, and had forgotten to reset my preferences from a quick exploration trip I had made a few days before, and I happened to see something like that during one of the jumps. It was one of the biggest "oh CRAP" moments I've had in the game. Thankfully it was my third consecutive jump, and my "Witchspace sickness" wasn't too bad, so I hadn't closed my eyes yet. THAT could've been a nasty surprise upon exiting Witchspace.

Having just passed over 200 hours played in VR... The new jump sequence is the first time I've felt any nausea in elite.

It seems like there's something off about the glow around the approaching star. Like it's not quite in the right perspective.

Currently coping by looking off to the sides.

I've stopped looking to the side when swirl.
Problem solved

But every now and then I can't help but look deep left. It's like being really drunk

Hm I actually LOVE that swirl the most of the new animation! I hope they don't take it away, I am quite addicted to it - it has something hypnotizing :D

personally I never get motion sickness whatsoever... I love rollercoasters in RL and the like...

So, three weeks later. Has anyone who reported motion sickness in this thread gotten used to the rotating effect?
Definitely still a no-go here, have to close my eyes during jumps or really fixate on the feet :).
