So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

Video of EAFOTS GL-Y E2 beacon:

Again, transcription with a couple ? for letters I'm not sure of:
DYJEPQYUWLUDCQCKJXUE
OKJ
DJPQYP6UNL003
NED?YLKCJQ6
SKNICDCJUNC
SQ
UESKQP??
YU2
IKDUPQEJDXY

Best go at decipher is:
DYNASTY EXPEDITION BEACON
DNSTYS6ERP003
RAD?POINT6
FORMADINE RIFT
EAFOTS GL-Y E2
MODE STANDBY

I swear 2 of the 3 ? letters are being pronounced as 'telco', which doesn't match anything in the Nato phonetic. Help!
Small update: Going by the previous messages where the line above 'MODE STANDBY' is the system that the beacon is in, I filled in a couple letters I was missing.

Meanwhile, even if I can't get out there before it's all over (a few hours at most tonight before I have to sleep) I presume the beacons are of course giving us a rough path of 3 different expeditions. Thus the clues will be in;

1.) What they were looking at? Are they leaving beacons at refuelling stars, or something else?

2.) The order of the waypoints; ERP I suspect stands for EARLIER RALLY POINT, as the number is usually one less than the following. So this I read in the following way.

dynasty expedition beacon (which beacon set it belongs too)
dnstys6 erm002 (code name, possibly for a group on that expedition (Dynasty 6) left Earlier Rally Point 2.)
rally point 3 (where this beacon is, RP 3)
conflux (Unknown, what they were looking for, what they were doing here?)
pru aesc ty-j a64-1 (Matches the same system it's found in)

If we know where RP 2 is, we can plot it on the map and start narrowing down either what they were looking for, or where they were going. If more than one RP/ERP X turns up, we can be more certain that dynsty6 etc may be a code name for someone on the expedition.

Ok, I'm off to Hawkins I guess. Will arrive tomorrow when I get the chance to play. No solving it before I get there!

ERP = effective radiated power? If so, could this bit be a clue related to mapping location of something based on stated ERP of each beacon? Just a thought when I saw ERP there in the deciphered messages.

Cool. Should be fine. I'm bringing medium multi-cannons and D grade shields.

Incidentally, I speculated earlier in this thread that "Heart And Soul" meant between the two nebulas; EAFOTS EU-R C4-1 is indeed at a point where lines drawn from the edges of the two nebula would roughly meet. Damn it, should have taken a risk on that. Had the system already been scanned?

Debating which one to go too... Hawkins gap is furthest away, but my Exploraconda has pretty long legs so I might be most useful there.

I'm actually just 1k LY form Sol (in the direction of the 'Rift). I'm in my 50LY (base) range Asp (Got sick of the 'Conda in SC!!!), trying to figure out which is the best one to head out to, seeing as they are all about the same.

Anyone wanna throw a guess at where we have the least amount of person power? I can normally buckyball at about 3kly/hr, so won't take too long to get to any of the regions...

Rep for the most confident post I have ever seen about a load out barely topping the Freewinder!!!

From what I could see, it's Hawkins (PLAA systems) with the least reports, but I can only go with what people are saying here; 3k an hour? Blimey, best I can do is 2k but then I always have to stop and scan and check! Pru will return less First Discovery data though as it's on the way to the core, and as there's simultaneous CGs I'm happy to scan as I fly... about 1.3k from my base at Cowini so far, save some for the rest of us you lot!

As an aside, did the recent patch remove the NetLogs? I forgot to start EDMarketConnector and didn't record about 16 stars, and now when I look I can't find any NetLogs on my system at all...

Not to worry, found the explanation, it just takes aaaages for EDMC to scan the new Journal files...

50 LY, top of the line fuel scoop, and a very well tuned Jonking technique - 45s/jump (give or take FD server times). Though, that was before the new with the next jump behind the star thing, so . will have to get the stopwatch out again.

That 45 seconds actually allows me to quickly check the system map, too...

As for first discoveries... I'm not Allitnil, Erimus or Jackie Silver, but I have plenty of tags out there, not too stressed.

With a top end fuel scoop the behind star thing is not a problem ...I just disengage the star as soon as the tank is full to open the angle and launch the FSD.

Sweet. I can't wait to see this in the game!

This thread is hard to keep up with, how many new beacons were found today? Four? Was it five? Quite a day.

So I'm thinking my D-grade sensors are a mistake. I flew past the first beacon discovered and barely noticed it flash by on the Contacts. I assume you gotta fly close to these things for them to be listed, right? Might just stick to logging ELW and water worlds.

You need to be within 1000ls, abs they should spawn within that range of solar bodies

For this one specifically A grade sensors if u can before u leave, otherwise u need to drop otu of supercruise and get within 3km of it( beacons only occour when yorue in sc and less than 1000ls from them)

Just timed my normal pattern (There's many, many light years to go!), and from arrival at one star, scan, check local map, back to main screen and scan complete, skim the corona with my R6 FSD and leaping out to arrival at the next, looks like my time was 1:18, or 78 seconds including the load screen in between... and even with my much larger FSD (60ly average jump, max 62.78) I'm doing 17 to 18 jumps per 1000ly... so er, 23.4 minutes it says here at 18, so even then I'm somewhat behind your pace! 3000ly for me would be 1 hour 10... wonder where you're shaving the time off? :p

Curses, I'm 3k out now and am carrying low weight sensors. So what we need to do is honk, then fly to each planet and get within 1000ls? Sigh. Ok, let's hope people have narrowed it down more by the time I can play tomorrow, or I fear I'll be useless out here....

So much for that. I set out for the Rift, resolving myself to my first exploration trip for this. I got to waypoint 2 of 7, stopped for the night, and found that you guys had already solved that part.

Guess I'll just visit a nebula nearby and go home. I'm not flying to Hawkins Gap (the opposite direction) with two probes already found.

Disappointed but thoroughly impressed at the same time. Cheers.
