So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

Ah, dammit I was only 60 ly from the next beacon in EAFOTS.

So it appears that these beacons are the remnants of some ancient exodus. Three seperate expeditions, all under the same codename 'Dynasty' heading out from the bubble - One towards the Conflux, one towards the Rift and one towards Hawkings Gap. I think the beacons will serve as markers to the direction these expeditions took, like crumbs left behind by Hansel and Gretel in the woods to map their travels, or to give them a direction home. The beacons themselves don't seem to give any hint or clue as to the next location - but their relative positions might give us an idea of the expeditions direction.

Of course, as it was suggested by Drew, these findings only give us more questions - namely

1 - What was the purpose of these expeditions? Science, a search for Raxxla, running away from something...
2 - what was the nature of their voyage - a fleet or armada of ships, or three single mother ships carrying many people
3 - Who was the driving force behind the expeditions - shadowy government forces, intrepid explorers, religiously persecuted individuals or cultists, or just science

and of course -

4 - What fate befell these expeditions...

That's what we're trying to do over here in the Canonn Survey Team Board

General Summary

Below that ticket on the same column we also have the beacons, eg:
EAFOTS Beacon 2

Hawkin's Gap Beacon 3

Oh dang, of course you guys are! Wish I saw this post before I worked on mine. Oh well, here's to the effort lol

I linked to that Canonn post here on this thread, I hope that's ok. More info at our disposal is the goal!

Plot twist: We are the Thargoids.

Incidentally, I speculated earlier in this thread that "Heart And Soul" meant between the two nebulas; EAFOTS EU-R C4-1 is indeed at a point where lines drawn from the edges of the two nebula would roughly meet. Damn it, should have taken a risk on that. Had the system already been scanned?

Debating which one to go too... Hawkins gap is furthest away, but my Exploraconda has pretty long legs so I might be most useful there.

Yeah. I had a bookmark at EAFOOTS DU-A C0, about 300ly further out but directly in line.

That was based on 'the moon card' design, using Heart and soul as the two towers and Sothis as a dog. :p

Question, do the multiple probes in each area point at any specific location?

In EAFOTS, I've just visited the two published ones; they don't point "out" towards what we've historically regarded as "The Rift".

Hopefully there are more of them. Hopefully there is some order and meaning in their placement.

I'm searching on the rimward side of the two EAFOTS ones, and I'm quite sure I'm not the only one. :)

Do you think there is any joy to be had sticking within the CG's designated '200 ly' radius?

the way it seems to me is that if the beacons are, say 60 ly apart and heading in roughly the same direction it would be possible to suggest a best guess for the next beacon, perhaps narrowing it down to 5 or 6 systems. Once the next beacon is discovered, perform the same check again following the bread crumbs until you find the bones of Hansel and Gretel, or at the very least a Gingerbread house :)

It was suggested that the latest release would make it easier to find whatever is in the rift - it could be that the ability to turn off stars you have visited in the GalMap makes it easier to sift through known locations in order to find these beacons, pointing us to the final destination...?

cant hurt to rule it out rather than in. Im sure most commanders will just search key areas. Ive found some interesting things just exploring off the beaten track.

... Plus it also feels slightly conflictory to the original storyline - having the federation getting independent commanders to go searching for something they supposedly wanted to cover up.
Bygones ... it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Is it ? I think that what we have here is some old imperial secret expedition to the area that ended badly in some way, leading to a cover up.
The feds are just very interested in learning what the empire was doing over there and are probably as much in the dark as the CoR.

I mean : Dynasty Expedition sounds very, very imperial... with the fed's it would be more in the line of deep space expedition 1034#59

the 2 beacons have ~40ly between them, I'm searching in this sphere

Hi all,

I found another beacon at EAFOTS LZ-H B10-0 D just waiting for it to 'speak'

good work - how far is it from the last one?

edit, sorry - and can we get some sort of a visual on the line from EAFOTS rally point 1, rally point 2 and rally point 3?
I'm at work so I can't check these things myself, apologies :(

That's interesting, because according to my EDSM log, I was in LZ-H B10-0 last night. I certainly didn't see an unregistered beacon when I jumped in. I was the 6th person to visit there, it was first registered on EDSM at 20:11 GMT.
