EDIT: One thing I missed from my previous attempt to transcribe what the mayday message says... right before "supplies are running low", it sounds like "We're surrounded"...

Its "Mayday Mayday, We`ve survived a Crash and need Help. We`re Stranded and our supplies are running low. I`m Including Coordinates with this Transmission"
Nothing jumps out on the waveform but someone with more experience might be able to spot something.
I`ll keep looking though
I have been conducting a small amount of archaeology of the ruins site in my time there (unfortunately no digging or GPR).
As I'm sure you're all aware, there seems to have been some kind of battle or mishap occur at the site in the past. Many of the obelisks in the various formations have been knocked over, cleaved or melted:
Melted:
Cleaved:
I have mapped the various damage and marked it as red dots on the pics below (if a obelisk formation does not appear in the pics below it means it has no damage):
ok, I lied...there is also the damaged obelisk on the small landing pad that I thought I had incorporated into the above image but apparently not.
Also, it appears that a segment of the inner wall has been "rubbed out" during the history of this place:
The fact that the obelisks are overlaid on an area where it appears there was once a large chunk of wall, now removed, suggests to me that that wall and possibly the large landing pad to which it is connected pre-date the obelisks.

She is telling that she is including her coordinates with this transmission. Looking at the spectogram in audacity the last second of the message (before the blip) shows that there is something in the 1kHz-2kHz band, as well as between 500 and 1000 Hz. Compared to the standard white noise at 1.7 seconds it looks different. I am not an audio engineer so far but I guess there is something hidden. Currently I am keeping changing the resolution of the spectogram using all the compilations audacity can give.
i think the crashed ship must be near the beacon somewhere (the debris near the beacon is too small to be a crashed ship). I'll have a scout around and see if there is anything in the nearby canyon.
So nothing worthy of a report on first page has been discovered since the Formidine Rift CG kicked off? Since FDev made this thread the de-facto go-to place for a dose of some story progression, i was hoping there has been some progress made.
This game makes me feel like a junkie. I cant get to the story content myself (drugs) so i have to hover around you guys (dealers) to feed off the scraps.

I did, but sadly they dont employ the "update first page with latest happenings" strategy this thread does. Also this thread (not the game) is THE place for all things related to Elite Dangerous story (according to FDev atleast).

I would like some story progress in a way that everyone who bought the game could experience. Since there is no chance for that to happen, i will gladly accept the biscuit. I am making some tea, would you like some? Or you prefer whiskey with your biscuits, like most Canonners do?

It struck me that the hologram image of the Comms Uplink on the HUD appears much bigger than the small piece we can see protruding from the surface of the planet. More than three quarters of it is under the ground. Granted, the buried part just looks like girders and support struts, possibly added to the model so Fdev can place these quickly on uneven surfaces without having them look like they're hovering, but still... There's a LOT of structure down there, and wasn't there something in one of the other Listening Post transmissions about being... buried alive?
I wondered this also... i used the Debug camera to fly inside of the Telescope to look at the star formations it was looking at and maybe see if i could find the stars on the galaxy map.
But given that the Planet moves and the telescope does not, what its looking at will always be changing.
Nice idea it thought but...
I have a screen shot of the formations from the Telescopes point of view (at the time of my visting) i also think i found the stars at the centre of the image (Tagged in my galaxy map list in game).
Ok sounds like you have done a very similar experiment with the debug camera inside the telescope as I had. We were wondering if the star formations were changing or not as a return visit the next day had the same stars in the same positions for us, or there was so little movement in that time we couldn't easily detect it.
If you could share your screen shot with spoiler tags here that would be useful to compare (my images are earlier in this thread) and your shared identification of the stars at the centre of of the telescope would be very much appreciated as we haven't done that yet.
We had been trying to get a 4k resolution image, hadn't realised at the time that an even higher resolution picture is available to everyone using the default Alt-F10 command to take the screenshot at max resolution (often far higher than 4k, my own being around 7k).

If the telescope image had not changed after 1 day (for your second visit) then it is likely either that the telescope is tracking an object or it is not programmed to change. However I think the telescope view is likely to be significant since I think the message was something about an alien signal being detected; it's the obvious way for FD to give us a clue about the origin of that alien signal.
