So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

A tapestry is many individual threads woven together, so I think it's important to consider all the mysteries in the game and how it may relate to the Formidine Rift. I actually believe the tapestry clue is perhaps the most important, as it can be taken to mean that everything is connected in some way.

With that said, excellent work Mengy!

I do wonder if the fact that both Reorte & Riedquat have the same z coordinate is significant- how does that match against the beacon's z coordinate? Perhaps the mystery is around that height?

Edit: ok, just checked EDSM, EAFOTS EU-R C4-1 is located at -5805.78125 / 129.875 / -5969.875.
So z= 129.875; Reorte has coordinates of 75.75 / 48.75 / 75.15625, so z= 48.75. So to test this hypothesis someone needs to check systems around 81ly *below* EAFOTS EU-R C4-1.

Just checked the other Eafots beacon positions, z=99.5, 151.8, & EAFOTS LZ-H B10-0 D1 hasn't been submitted to EDSM yet. So I think down might be the way to go...

Hey Just arrived in EAFOTS EU-R C4-1 and headed down.

Found an interesting system EAFOTS QM-W D1-25 which is at -5820.19 48.22 -5964.88 going to scan the planets here.

Any other places I should look? I'm not even sure what I should be looking for :)

I guess the beacons have all been decoded and didn't reveal anywhere that needs investigating?

Some careful exploration goes wrong.... ship malfunction, crew incompetence, an ED bug or just the Formidine Rift?

Whilst exploring the formidine rift and looking for Jumponium something strange happens.... "Shield are down....I repeat shields are down...."

A carefully parked Anaconda mysteriously loses it's shields and begins to sustain hull damage....

Desperately looking for helm commands to tell my co-pilot to take off comes to nothing and so I chase back to find a few dust clouds and nothing more.

Deciding to continue my search for the rare commodity I decide to send my ship into safe orbit and that's when things go disastrously wrong and I am left stranded on a cold rock deep in the Formidine Rift...

And the cost?

- 2 days to get there....
- many systems scanned and lost along with my explorer ranking....
- 5+ Mil insurance cost...
- No entry for the CG...
- Another dead crew member....
- And back to the bubble and out of the alien hunt...

:( Looks like a bug - no hostiles on the sensors.

Send a ticket to game support and link your video. They may not be able to restore your data, but they will compensate you, and if you ask them I'm sure they'll put you back out in the rift to save you the time of traveling back to where you left off.

That is one weird bug. Your ship started blowing up before it even hit the ground.

Can you do a spiral search (economical routing) at that galactic height? Even if you don't find anything then you'll get a nice load of exploration data for your rank & the CoR CG (assuming you're not supporting the Feds)
Edit: Oh, and dont forget to keep an eye on the skybox for anything unusual, keeping watching your six plus the H&S nebulae, watch out for lights on planets, & any discrepancy betwen the galmap and the systems in your navpanel. Be prepared to do a video recording & screenshots, and jump out rapidamente if necessary!
Good hunting!!

Steps to Reproduce
Go to EAFOTS GE-Z B14-0 4 A .... (The Long way)...

Land exactly where I was and wander off looking for "jumponium" for a few KMs..... wait for you incompetent but expensive NPC co-pilot to ignore shield loss and hull damage and return as fast as you can to discover they can't take off or land when you jump to the menu and back in to game....

Landing instructions seem to have be replaced with the instruction for crashing, burning and dying....

apart from that all is fine!

If you want compensation, and a chance to get your data back, you need to submit a ticket, not just a bug report. :)

Submit your ticket here : https://support.frontier.co.uk/login.php?page=contact

Lost Items : Lost Exploration Data : Open a Ticket

And also remember to ask them to put you back in the Rift, if you want to go back.

Well I tried to reproduce your problem. I landed at the same planet, and drove around shooting rocks a bit, but my ship didn't seem bothered. Although I was in an Asp with no AI messing about with my control panel.

I have been trying to pay attention to my surroundings when coming to the search area for the CG in EAFOTS.

I noticed suddenly next-to-no systems were showing up on my nav-com. Having an engineered Asp it doesn't cause me a problem, but the 20ly limit on the nav panel became very obvious. It seems a little surreal having so few systems in an area that is fairly well populated with stars.

It's likely to be coincidental but given its proximity to the search area I thought I'd jot it down on this thread if somebody else wants to stroke their chin about it.

EAFOTS LF-0 B20-0 <-- only 2 systems on the nav com
EAFOTS JE-Q B19-0 <-- 3 systems

Feels a bit "rifty" if you know what I mean.

Being a Beta backer I have raised tickets in this way before but it seems to direct me to the bug report forum I have created.

Guessing this has changed at some point?

So incompetent AI is your suggestion....

and the puffs of smoke with no interaction?

So Temors scenario then? ;-)

When you get truly 'rifty' there'll only be your next jump point in the Nav panel.
That's usually when mine starts to glitch and things start overlapping slightly.

Yes: bug reports are just 'informational' while tickets are needed if you need "something done" because a bug cost you something.

You only get a 20ish ly range for jumps AFAIK, so when you're really out there only one or two systems show up. But you could plot probably 10-15 more manually in the galaxy map.

It's dumb, but probably stops the game from breaking when you're near the core or even near Sol

I'm still new to the whole Formadine rift mystery. One thing that's been puzzling me is what the whole ROC thing comes from and why it's supposed to be "Right on Commander".

Anyway I've just got back to the bubble, sold all my data and just made Elite for the first time. First three words, "Right on, Commander!"

That and two invitations to go to Founder's World. I'm sure you've all made the connection before but it took me by surprise.

I found this. It seems that Raan himself may have posted it yesterday (his youtube account)

The connection is clear.

Raan Corsen.
Raan.
He's Raan. He ran so far away. He couldn't get away.

The aurora is made of colors.
Colors make up a prism.

As some of you may be aware, I have been vocal in my criticism of Kahina and CoR. I would like to make it clear that this is an entirely roleplayed position, and I have nothing but respect for the Cmdrs involved in CoR, and for their efforts to influence the Kahina/Salome/Rift storyline.

However, in the light of Friday's Galnet post regarding the destruction of the Imperial convoy in Daibo system, that FDev are unwilling to allow players to affect the story they have mapped out - that is to say, the attack on Patreus's flagship and subsequent recovery of escape pods has had no effect.

Again, with respect to CoR, I would caution Cmdrs against putting too much stock in CoR communications which do not emanate from the semi-official NPCs Salome and Alessia.

I wish things were otherwise - not least because the Independent Rift Explorers Alliance is having an awful lot of fun roleplaying with CoR. I feel that FDev is missing an opportunity here, but their actions to date suggest that Kahina's story has been mapped out and is not open to alteration - hence my suggestion to apply a large pinch of salt.

Any typos, grammatical errors or arrant nonsense are the result of me typing this drunk at 1:30am.
