An investigation into Frontier's actions on Combat Logging

The fact that people openly defend it is mind boggling.

Can you blame them? It's like speeding at this point. There's no consequences for doing it (something suspected for a long while, but proven beyond doubt in this thread), bad consequences for not doing it, and if that weren't enough, it es off the griefer groups.

I mean, damn, honor only goes so far. I can't even be mad at people when the deck is stacked this far against them.

ohwow, we are not griefers we are content delivery specialists. We specialize in high velocity and high impact deliveries of content through accurate deployment and precision tactics in concert with straight-thru-the-cockpit (STTC) and rebuy screen maximo performance. We do not discrimate your ship color, size or the type of equipment you are carrying.

Combat logging is a deterrent to our service response model and as such should be condoned and punished fairly by frontier.

What about other equally valid content delivery specialists providing buckets of context sensitive RAEG or lulz with nothing more than an expertly timed Windows Update for straight-to-the-lulzbucket entertainment?

Whoever designed the little feature on Windows Update that tabs you out randomly every few hours should be burned at the stake.

Slowly.

Yeah, give yourselves a big title. That will make you look more civilised.

If it doesn't work for Donald trump it wont work for you.

Oh, goodie, more political whinging. Just what I wanted. I suppose it's better than the smarmy, idiotic comments we'd be seeing if the other candidate won.

I'm glad Trump won.

But even his supporters can't deny that he has all the grace of a tea towel.

I'm glad Trump won.

I've just added a whole new layer of salt to this Thread I can feel it.

152 pages later and dead horse is still dead.
Are there even any horse molecules left to beat?

Yes, this is an issue for some people.
No, there isn't a clear cut and dry solution.
Yes, some people do do this.
No, they probably shouldn't.
Yes, Frontier has stated they do not approve.
No, they're not going to drop everything else they're doing to worry about how to fix this now or in the near future.

There, that pretty much covers everything that needs said on this subject from now until the end of time.

at least someone here understand.

To be fair, it was NEVER going to be possible to raise such a thread about combat logging WITHOUT resultant discussion about the motivations behind combat logging (ie cause and effect considerations) and just how serious an issue it is or isn't really. Surely SDC is not so niaive as to think otherwise?

Dead horse indeed. Time to let it go. The point has been made, the media has gotten it's non story, videos have been posted, hyperbole has been thrown around and the resident "I like to watch the world burn" people have had their soap box... Time to move onto the next hyperbolic and alarmist thread.

Pretty sure there's one on here about allowing someone like EA to take over the game creation somewhere, maybe you should all drag your dead horse whips over there.

In all seriousness, this has become laughably circular.

No. Because in combat, it gives no advantage to you nor does it put an opponent at disadvantage.

We're discussing an exploit/cheat that has a material impact on gameplay. You're discussing HUD colors and paintjobs, things that do not impact degrade gameplay for an opponent.
His claim was "Multiplayer cheating, if nothing is done about it, ruins that game, every time."

So: please define "cheating". He didn't say "cheats that have material impact"; but you are welcome to include "has material impact" in your definition.

So you're either being purposely obtuse, or are completely unfamiliar with Elite. Which is it?
You are being confrontational in a personal manner. It's tempting to report: but I'll wait and see if you want to either discuss the topic at hand or wander off as opposed to continuing to badger.

Been around many a gaming forum. The ED player base is the worst I have seen, by far. No other gaming community I have been a part of has been so childish, narrow minded, and petty.
Or, you're focusing on a particular part of the community and extrapolate this to the whole.

That's my guess, otherwise you'd be silly to be a part of such a community. And you're not silly are you?

cheat
verb
gerund or present participle: cheating
1.
act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination.

I'm discussing the topic at hand; you are discussing "what do words mean", in a failing effort to win the debate by changing, or challenging, the grammar used in the discussion.
