I know, but it's still a theory ;)
Also, it seems strange to me that the "solution" for the UPs is pointing to a locked system. That makes little sense from a gameplay perspective. If you give a "solution" it should also be "solvable." That's why the answer bothers me a bit, even though it fits every single time.

Do the FDevs even know it is yet locked ? After the recent events we might wonder if ...

Focus on science PvP ... Seems it's only thing Devs feel concerned.

UA selling is something u can assist with in the short term it has ingame impacts

After recent events lets assume they arent paying attention and the broken galaxy will continue as is until it really becomes and issue.

Or they're working on it but it's related to something that is pretty core to the game engine and as such 'fixing' one piece will break many more and as such are doing their due diligence with QA.

The next beta for a client update comes out on Thursday so the base may be fixed by then or it will be fixed by the time 2.2.03 gets released proper

Anyone still grinding away at extracting data from the symbols displayed on the obelisks at the ruins site?

Had a play with the Obelisk Playground yesterday. Two groups of 18 lights = 36 bits per state, maybe two 18 bit words, maybe a single 36 bit word. I didn't really want to point the finger at humans again, since I'm not convinced this time, but a couple of interesting coincidences / possibilities:

  • Base36 is a binary-to-text encoding scheme that represents binary data in an ASCII string format by translating it into a radix-36 representation. The choice of 36 is convenient in that the digits can be represented using the Arabic numerals 0–9 and the Latin letters A–Z.
  • There have been some 36-bit computers: Smaller machines like the PDP-1/PDP-9/PDP-15 used 18-bit words, so a double word was 36 bits.

If either of these possibilities was correct, there is still the issue of how you would read a state out into binary format. Where do you start? Presumably the lower bits would be the most frequently used, and this might explain why some (highest?) bits are not used at all.

which will be after janurary 1, a key xmas period when new players will have time to play, wont be able to access content over a key sales period, all we can do is hope Fdev fix it in the next 2 weeks

So do I. Not wanting to whine and complain, but frankly I can't be bothered flying my ship from the Formidine Rift 11,000 LY back to the bubble, only to have them fix it, and fly another 11,000 LY back. It would take me about 2 weeks of my leisure time. So, my ship is parked out there waiting for the fix and I'm not playing Elite at all.

If I could have another commander so I could actually do something else in and around the bubble, without having to buy another copy of the game and future expansions and gimmick the installation to make them both run it wouldn't be so bad. But I can't. And it is.

Edit: Oooh and I've just received an anti-trolling "advisory" from the moderation team. And you can't actually write to them to complain because they have chosen not to receive private messages. The moderation policy of this board is just garbage, sorry, I think I've had enough.

If you cant find enjoyment in the game, you came to the wrong place (these forums) to find anything resembling it here.

Is anyone else experiencing screen jitter while in station since 2.2? I've updated my Nvidia drivers twice in the last couple of days but that hasn't fixed it. Not raised a bug report yet, but think I ought to.
Also noted that the galmap ship location marker isn't updaed when you transfer a ship.

A lot of work has gone into that Obelisk Playground +1 Rep

Whilst it is very disappointing to learn that an important lead in the Formidine Rift mystery is currently stalled due to a bug, I thought it might be an idea to summarise the current mysteries to show that there are other elements of different storylines in-game which have the potential to be progressed by player actions. Are there any that I have missed?
1) The location of Raxxla
2) Something that has been in (or missing from!) the Formidine Rift since launch
3) What is the meaning of the ancient ruins?
4) Outposts of "The Missing"
5) Possible additional alien shipwrecks
6) Possible additional ancient ruins
7) Possible Barnacle locations in other nearby nebulae (e.g. the Orion Nebula)
8) Are any Generation Ships in-game?
9) Are there any more Unregistered Comms Beacons / local Galnet articles etc. pointing to other locations/mysteries we are not yet aware of?
10) What is the role in the storyline for certain rare commodities only found in space, e.g. Hafnium, Scientific Research, AI Relics, SAP 8 (are these still there?)?
11) Are there any other kinds of surface 'life' that have yet to be found?
12) Is Salome alive and where is she?
One other activity that could be done is to systematically go through the list of UA-affected stations and try and cure them. Since there are people actively UA-bombing new stations all the time, the list of affected stations is only increasing, which may be quite a hindrance in future.

Speaking of the Obelisk Playground, has anyone previously modified the code to display a count of the lit triangles in each of the three patterns? It would probably be easy to do but I'm not too familiar with Javascript and even though it looks straightforward, my head hurts just trying to figure out where to add code.

If we don't know the meaning behind the triangles, and there are three sets, we could just count the number of lit triangles in each set and we would have some numbers to try and find a pattern in.

Apologies if this sort of thing has been tested & eliminated previously.

Do you mean this: https://ixalon.github.io/elitedangerous/

It's on the front page. You can pause it and FF/RW to do the counts. Might be of some use.
