Same here. Got a UA, did around 70 jumps in the contact area and no luck.

Final FULL update as I head off to bed - wall of text but this is as it happened:
Story so far at 1:21am on 6/1/17:
No confirmed encounters without a UA onboard yet. Some unconfirmed reports of encoutners with MA onboard.
Corvette in first encounter jumped to Aries Dark Region XU-O B6-3 in first video and from Pleiades Sector DR-M B7-2 to Pleiades Sector OI-T C3-8 while being interdicted during a jump on the way to Maia in the later video. Second in Hyades Sector WJ-Z b3 and Third in Pleiades Ector BR-M B7-
Corvette reportedly had no UAs onboard according to wing pilot (conflicting reports on this) but the second video shows the ship with 6AUs

DJ Truthsayer encountered one while streaming and shot at it. It took no damage and jumped away. He sacnned the wake and got the same unknown wake scan. He tried jujmping while targetting the wake and received a message that the drive was malfunctioning.

EDIT: jump destination was supposed to be PLEIADES SECTOR HR-W D1-S7 (or D1-57, unsure) and he got thrown out of hyperspace at PLEIADES SECTOR IH-V C2-12 instead

I doubt you can. Wouldn't even let me use classified camera while my systems were offline.
I was wondering the same thing. I got my first 5-6 jumps after I grabbed an UA. After that I've jumped around 30 times and nothing... Maybe it's one sighting per player (per day?).
Been interdicted twice in a row (straight after one another) carrying meta alloys

Alright, so I got interdicted in Sterope II just now with a UA in the hold. Had no luck for an hour and then another commander gave me one. I jumped one time from Maia to Sterope II and it happened.

I shot it. The hits registered, too. So yeah, interdictions can happen in the Pleiades, too.

I also just had the encounter, doing the exact same jump - also with a single UA on board.
Simple Science:
Classified Camera was completely unavailable throughout (likely because it is no more than a scripted event for now)
Ship (Asp Explorer) is not equipped with Palin's Patented Pox Preventative Racks (or whatever they're called)
EDDiscovery log lists the encounter as "Encoded, unknownshipsignature, Discovery Number 25" (edit: looks like this may just be the 25th material that I have discovered - probably not relevant)
The hyperspace jump failed - didn't even get out of the system - wound up just under 20,000 Ls from where I started.
Occurred in Solo mode
Sadly I wasn't quick thinking enough to jettison the UA while the UFO was still present, but I did drop it in the vicinity of the unknown wake. This is on video if anybody wants a crack at the morse code to see if it's beeping anything different now (though you'll have to wait a while for the upload as my internet is abysmal).
11/10 would do it again.
